A Storm is Brewin'. Saints v Patriots
I am so new here myself it seems I am not yet up to the level of being an official welcomer but So the heck what.. Welcome!
I posted this in a Get Better Lance area but it seems it fits here with yours better.
p.s. Patriots are my second favorite time… well kinda tied with the Cowboys… but still..
Welcome and I can’t wait for our game!
Saints v New England
I think this might be the game of the year from many perspectives. I can only offer mine.
Some say it is a walk in the park. Okay I get that – we are on a High being 9-0 (soon going to be 10-0). We want to be positive and I am positive that we will win but I don’t think it will be a walk in the park.
I can’t offer you statistics I can only offer that gut feeling that certain something.
You know how just before a Hurricane comes and the air has a certain smell, and the light is somewhat green and there is a hush at a level you can’t really define. You know the storm is brewing and you know it is coming your way.
Well we are New Orleanians – We are survivors and Thrivers… We don’t just survive we thrive.
When that North Easter comes our way… we will turn and face them and we will rise and win but it won’t be like a Sunday walk through Audubon Park. It is going to be one damn fine game where we HAVE to stand and cheer because it is in our souls and because our boys will want and need that energy. We Will shout at the TV Screens or if you are lucky enough to be in the Dome you will stomp your feet.
Your heart will pound and you will find at times you are holding your breath…. You will grab the person next to you and say "DID YOU SEE THAT?" and years from now you will say. "I was at that game." even if you weren’t.
Have you ever wondered if all the people who said they were in the old Sugar Bowl Stadium on November 8th, 1970 when Tom Dempsey kicked the 63 yard field goal in the last seconds and we won uhm…. (time out for research – okay back) 19-17 were all put together if they would even fit in the Super Dome much less my beloved old Tulane Stadium? And yes… I WAS there… with the Gris Gris Man and I saw the field Goal… because I didn’t know enough to know it was impossible.
We will be there 100 percent where ever we are because…. We need to be. It is going to be the Game of the Year…. and we will have won it at the end of the day no matter what the score.
Personally I say we win by three but I am just a fan and don’t know anything about statistics or stuff like that. I just know my heart belongs to the Saints.
So Lance… I am praying for you and for every one of our guys. Get your Game on your Fans are behind you and we believe.
Who Dat? The Saints is ALL Dat and more.
Great Game today everyone!

Love the Morgus
I am too young to remember his first run, but my parents and aunts and uncles spoke fondly of him…then in the 80’s he had a re-emergence, and I enjoyed it much. Bad horror/sci-fi movies with goofy mad scientist-lab bumpers with him and Chopsley…good stuff.

True Story....
Morgus was on when I was little and I remember when I was first allowed to stay up ‘late’ enough to watch. Gris Gris Man was older so he was already able to watch him (perhaps that is when he first became inspired)… I usually fell asleep before it was over.
Anyway Chopsly scared the heck out of me. I used to peek at him through my fingers. Unbeknown to me our dad was friends with Tommy (forgot his last name have to ask GGM).
So one night our front doorbell rang and Dad said to go answer it. We scampered into the front hall to open it and CHOPSLY in full garb was standing there.
I peed my pants.
true story.

Chopsley lived on my paper route
He lived in the old Carollton district close to Tulane Ave. on Leondas St., if I remember right. I used to see him come out in costume with the hood off to drive to the show. Some time Morgus would pick him up. For six months, I was too terrified to go collect for his paper. Finally, he met me on his front porch out of costume to pay me. He was a nice man.

Thanks for the welcome
VoodooGrisGris
Thanks for the official welcome. Your team reminds me of Patriots when we had our first SB year. Lots of passing and high scores. No doubt you will dispose of Bucs today.
But ours will be one of the best regular seasn games………actually our big one was last week and Belichick gave it to the Colts. Most of us are really pissed about the 4th and 2 play. Bad idea……….could have worked if we throw for 5 yards, but nnnoooooooo……we throw for 2 and Faulk didn’t retain possession until after he got knocked backwards.
Anyway, we showed we could light them up. Really looking forward to next week. Thanks and good luck to you.

Thanks for the visit
We’ve all been looking forward to this game for awhile. A lot of people, myself included, think the Pats are the real tough team remainding to stop the Saints, although you can never know with our division. I’m sure it will be an awesome game.

It's an old merchant marine trick ~
When you encounter a hurricane at sea, let the wind hit your back, hold your left arm out to your side and point. You will be pointing to the eye of the storm.
When your team lands at Louis Armstrong International Airport on the southern approach, tell them to hold their left arms out and point. They will be pointing at the Superdome ~ the eye of the “Perfect Storm.”
Trust me. We don’t intend to be Patriotic!
Welcome to the Big Easy, y’all. And, as they say in Japan, “Good ruck!”

Merchant marine?
Is that your background?

Nope.
I used to own a 54 foot power boat and cruised/fished/dove the Okinawan waters. There are as many typhoons here as there are hurricanes in New Orleans, if not more. I just learned to survive and quit boating years ago.

Hmm
I wonder if you’re south of the equator, if you’d have to put your RIGHT arm out? Everything rotates backwards down there . . . curious.

Actually
we are on almost the exact lattitude as New Orleans. It doesn’t snow here, lots of sugar cane, people are “buried” above ground, and we have about 15 to 20 typhoons (huricanes) pass through the area every year. We haven’t been hit by a bad one for about 4 years now.
Anyway, left arm out. Swing it all about. Do the hokey pokey. That’s what it’s all about.

hmmmm... JND
Maybe with the Patriots you should come up with a special Warding Dance… I could lend you some feathers and rattles if you like…. every some sparklies if you like.
I also have to find a very special avatar I think for the whole week until next Monday.
If I make the Brew, Jay makes the Healing Spell, you make with the Warding Dance added to the GGM’s spell… Oh lordie we could rip New England off the coast and make it a new Island… better be careful with all that power.
Ahhh 10-0 It feels soooooooooooooo good.

I responded with a VERY Serious and heartfelt response. Pfffth. I wasn’t the one to make the first joke….
So here is serious as a heart attack.
The Pat’s have some serious competition facing them when they get to New Orleans and enter the dome and it will be a seriously sad day for them at the end of the day.
Because…. it is a very serious game for everyone.
Seriously.
Ahhh 10-0 It feels soooooooooooooo good.

Da Brew
Well I will work on a new potional brew, might have to send a note to Morgus for suggestions but what will cinch the game will be The Gris Gris Man’s Spell. We need it for this game for sure.
Just watched most of their game and sure the Jets were loose but we can’t be loose with the ball because they will grab it fast.
Not going to pretend to be a Football Pro with the real talk…
I am just a fan…
Ahhh 10-0 It feels soooooooooooooo good.
