A poster on the Saints message board BlackandGold.com claims to have inside knowledge that the Saints are going to sign former Saints cornerback Mike McKenzie. I would NOT believe it until confirmed by another, legitimate source.

Per ESPN
Less than a week after signing veteran cornerback Chris McAlister, the Saints now are planning to sign former cornerback Mike McKenzie, according to a source close to the situation.

What does it mean...

1) Porter and Greer out for longer than initially tought…?
2) Gay and Torrence got nicked… maybe more seriously than initially tought?
3) They dump McAlister already…

6 Corners on the active roster at last count… hmmm

Wow..

I don’t think they dumped McAlister, I just think that both Gay and Torrence won’t be able to play, leaving us with 2 legit corners if Greer is healthy. Malcolm Jenkins and Jabari Greer, then we have Chris McAlister and supposedly Mike Mckenzie, leaving us with 4 cbs, and that would make sense.

Greer and Jenkins start, McAlister and Mckenzie are the nickel and dime corners, let Torrence and Gay get healthy.

Hard to believe

Unless Greer’s injury is going to keep him out longer or Gay’s recurring hammy problem also keeps him out. Porter’s injury will probably have him out for at least three more games.

I’m glad to see McKenzie back. They may just be giving him a look-see today and this report may be premature. I’d be surprised if he is as effective as he was before the knee injuries. He’ll also need time to learn GW’s scheme. Our secondary is a lot different than when he was last here.

Don't get ahead of yourself, Satch
I’m glad to see McKenzie back.

That has not been confirmed.

Saints sign Mike McKenzie

Thin in the secondary with injuries, the Saints have signed cornerback Mike McKenzie. He played for the Saints last season until a knee injury sidelined him the rest of the season.

Just hope Porter and Greer will both definitely be back.

I am thinking Torrence might be nicked up enough and marginal enough to be replaced. Then there is Gay- he could be getting phased out. Young also could be on his way out too if Jenkins is looking capable. Especially if Jenkins or one of the others could play safety (Mc Alister?) .

If our DBs were Greer, Sharper, Porter, Harper, Jenkins, McAlister,McKenzie, Reis that could work with Gay and Young waiting in the wings if there are injuries. But, that might ,make special teams thin. Young stays and Reis goes?? Stay tuned!!

Next signing- Deuce Mc Allister!!!!
