Some Observations from Jets/Pats Game
I found a lot of comfort in the Jets/Pats game. I saw several things of which the Saints could take advantage. The Pats' secondary looks tired and slow. If the Jets' receivers could catch and their qb wasn't a touch too anxious, the Pats would not have had those interceptions and the Jets would have beaten them. Additionally, they doubled the wideouts a lot and left linebackers to guard running backs and tight ends. If they do that against the Saints expect Shockey and Bush (if he plays to have huge days). On offense, Their offensive line does not react well to penetration. I saw on several occasions hands reaching out to stop charging lineman. They should have been several holding calls. Maybe the Saints can get some of those calls. Also I saw the Jets doubling Moss and leaving their second best cover man to cover Welker. I would put my best coverman on Welker and try to force him to the outside, which still doubling up on Moss.I might even have a linebacker chip him at the line of scrimmage before rushing the passer to force the running back to stay and pick up the blitz. The Jets did it effectively twice and it really effected the timing on Welker. I really don't know why they didn't do it more often, since Welker was killing them. I have high hopes for this game. I really want to clinch the division this weekend.

I want this so bad I can taste it, even after I’ve eaten my red beans with Dave’s Insanity Sauce.

Atlanta and Carolina
I can’t believe so many of you are thinking Atlanta and Carolina. Atlanta maybe, they have long been a thorn in our sides, but Carolina. They are so one dimensional! If Fujita and Ellis are playing they will be crushed.

Not if we’re resting everybody and their brother for the playoffs.
Not that I want them to do that, of course. But IF we are doing so…
I'm going to be at that game, so they'll be CRUSHED as Ajun says
No excuses, Saints. My first game attended in 26 years. There had better be some crushing involved.

WHO DAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This year is different
As a longtime Saints fan, I still suffer from the residual fear and nervousness whenever they play a really good team in a “big” game. But this year, they’re giving me reasons to feel more confident. For years, they’ve been good enough to win, but didn’t always manage to pull it off. How many times have we been through the frustration of watching them lose games at the end by 3 points or less?
But this year, they are actually winning all those games. They play up to the level of the competition each week, doing whatever’s required to win that game. They’ve struggled against some teams that had weak records, but when the big boys come to town, they bring it, because they know they have to. The same will hold true vs. the Patriots. I don’t think the Saints team that plays Monday night will look much like the team that played the Rams, even if you ignore the injured players factor. They will all step up their game and respond to the challenge, and I fully expect Payton/Williams will have more than a few tricks up their sleeves.
It’s a strange thing to feel positive going into a game like this, given our history. I may be watching it through my fingers, at least at first, but I’ll definitely be watching! And from what we’ve seen so far, I think Brees is right, they can continue to get even better, making 19-0 definitely doable. WHO DAT!

Welker-Moss
Welker is tough on zones and Moss is tough on man coverage, GW will be cooking up something in his secret Lab for this one. We gotta be physical w/both, challenge them at the line, we get 5 yds. to jack’em up, gotta do it every time. Plus Brady is got to be pressured, he can’t stand back and be able to look all over the field. Crowd will help by gettin’ loud but D-line or a blitz needs to shrink that pocket.
