Saints and Patriots The Superbowl of the Regular Season

They wil be several factors in the upcomming saints game.  Belicheck, undoubtly a future hall of fame coach goes against the offensive mastermind Sean Payton.  Future hall of fame quarterbacks are present on both teams.

The NO defense has the highest turnovers in the NFL right now.

NE offfense has a nack as good or better than Drew Brees to discect the opponents defense.

This leads to the ultimate question.

What is the ultimate X factor in the Saints-Patriots game.

Pressure

We can list stats and compare QB’s and I think we all agree that the Saints are playing like the better team right now but this is a different game it could be a preview of this yrs Superbowl
and the fans and the media are making it the game of the year

But pressure changes everything and all the pressure is on the Saints, to stay undefeated and storm thru the NFC play-offs to the SB and that can be a huge distraction the media hype, the interviews , the expectations from a big game it’s easy for a team to try to hard, if the Saints can stay grounded it will be an exciting game
If not they could beat themselves I know this doesn’t seem likely but

Any Given Sunday ( or Monday night )

Pressure changes everything

Any given Sunday

you're right about pressure

but wrong that it’s all on the Saints. Miami plays Buffalo on Sunday, whom they trounced earlier in the year and will probably do so again. If the Pats lose to the Saints, Miami will be within 1 game. And the Patriots have to travel to Miami the following weekend. The Patriots are in the midst of a very tough road series that could end up costing them the division. Professional players almost certainly don’t think about these scenarios as much as us fans do, but they are doubtless aware of the consequences of slipping right now.

The reality is that the Saints have all but locked up their division, a first round bye, and home field advantage for at least the divisional round. On the other hand, the Patriots are fighting for their playoff berth at this point. After the Colts, there will be 5 other playoff spots, with Miami, Jacksonville, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, San Diego, and Denver all likely to be in contention for them. I’d say the pressure is far greater on the Patriots to win this game.

I would say what the offenses can do against the defenses they face

or vice-versa. If NO can keep up the balanced attack they will have the advantage.

Pressure; A Bad Thing?

I think pressure is great. It takes players to the next level. Every team should not only want to be in that situation but be pumped up to keep it going.

Defense:
In watching randy moss through the years, i’ve seen to many conerbacks play 10 yards off scared to get burned on a big play. The saints need to show guts and bump him at the line(you get 5 yards for a reason. I think the saints D-Line is really good and can get to brady. But we cant be scared of their receivers. Respect them but dont be afraid of them. Whoever covers moss needs to get physical at the line and disrupt him cause that one or two second delay is enough to ruin the timing between brady and moss.

I think it's more important to press Welker

Moss is very hard to play press coverage against because of his size. With those long arms of his, he can knock a DB’s arms out of the way and get around them too easily. Welker, though, is short/small and much more susceptible to timing disruptions. I don’t know if he’s ready for it, but I think the best guy the Saints could put on Welker is Jenkins. He’s big, physical and has great instincts. He might get beat a few times, but in press coverage, Malcolm should be able to disrupt Welker often enough to reduce his effectiveness.

I think we will press them both

but I agree that it’s more important to press Welker. He’s the key to their offense. We need a corner who can press Moss a little and another corner, working with help, who can press Welker a lot. Maybe the combo of Jenkins and Shanle or Jenkins and nickel back on Welker. I am sure GW will have something. What is going to be the key thing has to do with halftime adjustments. Whatever GW does, if it works in the first half, Belicheck will make adjustments at halftime but GW will be countering and anticipating adjustments so whoever counters most successfully will be a big factor in who wins.

When we have the ball, there is just no team that can game plan effectively against us without leaving one or two of our weapons with a mismatch, especialy if Bush and Moore play.

I agree with the pressure aspect but don't forget the FANS factor.

I would assume the Superdome walls will be cracking Monday night!!!!

I think the Fans Factor could well generate 14 points!

Pat's Fan here...

…just wanted to say how funny I think this is. This will be our 3rd Super Bowl this year!

Week 2 Jets, Colts and now the Saints!

Best of luck! Just remember, there’s a high chance we’ll see each other again this season.

High Chances.

Since The Patriots are my second favorite team I look forward to not only nibbling my nails when we play you but I look forward to and love watching you beat everyone other than my Saints.

Any game you play is always a good game.

I am not allowed to say Best of Luck because when I said it to the Rams… well… I got fussed at afterwards. But I wish you an injury free game and a great season other than Monday.

Ahhh 10-0 It feels soooooooooooooo good.
