The most notable thing to me

Its how unbalanced they are on offense.
They have 404 passing plays and 284 rushing plays

To be fair...

…would you rather have the ball in Brady’s hands or Laurence Maroney’s?

by Richard Hill on Nov 26, 2009 9:21 AM CST up reply actions

I can relate

But what happened with maroney I always thought he was a good back much like Marion Barber from the Cowboy’s but it seems like nobody hears about him anymore.
I realize you have Brady Moss and Welker but i dont hear much about your running game

Well...

…I’m pretty sure Maroney and Barber were teammates at Minnesota? They came in with high hopes, but neither of them are stud backs. They’re both backs that belong in a tandem or trio. Barber does well, but he’s with Choice and Jones. Maroney does well too, but Morris and Taylor are injured and BJGE isn’t getting many reps to prove himself, meaning Maroney is splitting with Faulk- more of a receiving back than a running back.

That being said, if Maroney finds himself with one person in his way, he’s going to run him over. Odds are just as good that he’ll run into the line and go nowhere.

We don't know

He seems to be like Reggie Bush when he’s running well he’s very good but Injuries and inconsistent running have kept him struggling but he works hard and I think he’ll get there.
Our other backs Sammy Morris, and Fred Taylor have been injured for a few weeks so were struggling with our running game Kevin Faulk does a good job filling in but it will be good to get our starters back

I'm not saying that you aren't a very good team

but I think teams like the Eagles and Cardinals and on the negative and the Steelers, Giants on the positive, have shown going all the way without a formidable running game is extremely hard or impossible in this era. You have to have a passing game too, but you really need to be able to pound it at some point. Defenses are to sophisticated to just throw all day and win it all. Just ask Andy Reid (and the Sean Payton of the past)

We were a top 10 running team last year.

I think we were ranked #6 in overall yards? But all of our backs have been injured for a LONG time forcing Maroney to try and carry the weight of the running game which he can’t handle alone.

The truth is

The Patriots average 12.5 net point per game, but remember they beat the Titans 59-0 so much for average
The Saint average 16.5 net point per game, but they only beat the Rams by 5 and Tampa by 31so much for average

averages can not be relied upon

by Deckape 69 on Nov 26, 2009 11:42 AM CST reply actions

But it is important...

…how you handle good opponents versus how you handle the bad ones. The Patriots have manhandled the easy teams. The Saints, after the Rams debacle, wanted to prove they could do the same when they faced the Bucs. Which they proved. Averages may not be the whole story, but they’re important when trying to realize how a team plays. Do they play up all year round? Or do they play down to their competition and risk getting beat? Usually the first team will win in a faceoff.

by Richard Hill on Nov 26, 2009 7:29 PM CST up reply actions

It's not about proving anything

It’s about cleaning up mistakes, breaking in our rookies who have been on the bench or special teams all season behind veterans who are now injured, and it’s about beating teams that we have to beat. Tampa is playing well and the Rams are underrated and play well to the Saints’ biggest weakness. You need to look beyond the scores and the scoring to see what is going on. I think your commentary has led you to realize that the Saints have a ton of key injuries right now.

I was about to comment that the Saints fans were posting all over the Pats website.

But here is where you guys all are. Welcome to New Orleans! Hope y’all are in town to catch the game!

The truth part 2

True when betting a game the averages come into play and it gives a general view of what that team has done
But remember the Patriots lost to the Jets and the Saints beat the Jets, remember the Patriots beat the Bills by 1 the Saints beat the Bills by 20
If we look at the Saints win average over the past 40 years we can make a perdition that they will never win more than 5 games in any given year and that might be a high number
So your saying the Saints don’t stand a chance against the Patriots, it will be like the first playoff game they went to 42 – 7

You get paid don’t you
