Time to get rid of John Carney
New Orleans Saints have a sublime offence, a sublime defence, great special teams, great fans, great coaches, great everything except for their kicker John Carney. When are the coaches going to realise this and give Carney the hack the boot, when they lose the Superbowl because of a missed fg? The guy is just making extra points for god's sake. Doesn't anyone else see this? FG kickers are the easiest to replace, this guy is way past his best, time to give him the boot before its too late.

Oh yeah, we see it.
I still haven’t forgiven him for this.
I’ve had enough.
I bet we see Hartley next week. Carney’s performance was unacceptable.

Time for Hartley
Even Carney’s extra points were just barely making it through. Was there a problem with the snaps and holds? I’ve never seen him kick so poorly. Payton should at least give Hartley a one-game look-see in Washington. He does have the luxury of playing either one while the other rides the bench. He wouldn’t have to cut Carney.

Hell yes, there was a problem with the snaps
It’s just a matter of time before Kyle snaps the ball behind Brunell’s back. I just hope it doesn’t happen in the playoffs.

There has been problems with the hold all year.
While I agree that change is necessary, we have to change the correct thing. Maybe we need a new deep snapper or a new holder. I don’t know enough about it to know what needs changing.

He did have the record

KICKER
I agree he SUCKS, but i’m superstitious about such things. I think we have to ride him out. Makes no difference if we lose a game cuz carney misses or some other bum. At least with carney we know where we stand.
Maybe
But Carney isn’t the future, Hartley is. If Hartley is as good or better than Carney, he needs to go in. At this point I’d say he can’t do any worse, and I’d rather see him get the experience. Better he misses some now when we don’t need them, than later when we really do.

we're undefeated and playing awesome, don't change a thing
don’t even change the waterboy. nothing is broken, so don’t try to fix it. This is what success tastes like. Get used to it.!!

We’re undefeated in large part because Payton and Loomis haven’t shrunk from fixing things that are broken. Our kicking game isn’t truly broken…more like it’s missing on two cylinders. It may be fine just hauling us around town, but how is it going to behave on the interstate?
Fix it. Sit Carney this week, and play Hartley.
(The only way I can see this not happening is if the virtually unthinkable has occurred: if Hartley is looking worse in practice than Carney did last night in the game.)

Our kicker isn’t broken, he just doesn’t kickoff, attempt long field goals or convert short ones. Thanks, I feel so much better about the situation, now that I’ve had a moment to access it.

I think
Carney is still kicking now just because the kicking game has been Payton’s biggest glaring weakness as a coach since he got here. Ever since he let Carney go in the first place, it’s been a non-stop carousel of hacks. I think he’s just trying to ride it out while it’s not important, like Coughlin did with Carney, to try to be the “better coach” about it. Pretty sure that’s got to end now, or soon. I also think Morstead should be holding kicks, but maybe that’s something to address next season. And Kyle hasn’t been great in the most secure and simple job in pro football, either, nor is he a spring chicken. I think the whole kicking unit will be the most obvious and easy overhaul of the coming offseason.

It would not be surprised if it's strategy

need to start a web sight call FIREJOHNCARNEY.COM
what are we waiting for ? Is sean waiting for Carney to loose a playoff game to FIRE his ass,I am very uneasy even on xtra points, this guy carreer is over,Please coach send him packing before he causes us a game,Do it now please…make him a water boy if you like him and want to keep him around, start this wegsight you will have a million hits..
I would rather watch Sed Ellis kick FGs and XPs than Carney right now. He was terrible last night and has been all over this entire season.
If Hartley isnt still the same guy he was before the suspension, we can easily go find someone to do the job.
The base paths belonged to me, the runner. The rules gave me the right. I always went into a bag full speed, feet first. I had sharp spikes on my shoes. If the baseman stood where he had no business to be and got hurt, that was his fault. -Ty Cobb
