Poor JD
I wish him well…maybe a new team was what he needed.

Poor JD
I dunno what Pay-Loo were thinking when we signed this guy. We don’t run a cover 2….so why sign a strictly cover 2 corner? Coming from indy he probably never had to man cover a WR in his nfl career, but we expected him to be able to do so here? I don’t think JD’s epic fail in NOLA is totally his fault, i don’t even think the majority of it was his fault. He can make some good plays sitting in his flat zone, just trying to cover guys like Brandon Marshall downfield with JD was…I guess i’ll be kind and say questionable thinking. Well atleast now Detriot has a blueprint for this guy…massive liability in man coverage, does pretty good sitting in the flats.
Good luck JD…u shall need it.
For what it’s worth, Randall Gay had never played outside of the Cover 2 prior to coming here and Jabari Greer had limited exposure to anything besides. It’s a zone scheme, so it tends to hide the shortcomings of players more than others. That doesn’t mean everyone who plays it, CAN’T adapt to a more conventional scheme, just that you don’t really truly know what you’re getting, without evaluating the player from game film when he was in college, bringing him in for extensive pass drill workouts, etc. All in all, it’s a crapshoot. David just didn’t work out as a CB for us. Jonathan Vilma has struggled in the 3-4. Every scheme isn’t for every player. David does have pretty good recognition skills and plays big, in terms of delivering a hit. He reminds me of Toi Cook, in a lot of ways. Maybe he’ll eventually find his niche as a safety. Maybe he’ll have a better go of it with the Lions. Whatever the case, I wish him luck.

too bad it wasn't the bears
Would love to face a secondary of Josh Bullocks and Jason David someday.
