Carolina Panthers @ New Orleans Saints: Game Predictions

I can't believe it's already time for another round of game predictions. Seems like just yesterday we were voting for last weeks winner. Oh wait...

Speaking of last weeks contest let's congratulate our latest winner by just a hair, saints-nation. His victory marks the second week in a row that a Canal Street Chronicles contributing author has had the most accurate predictions. Guess they know their stuff.

But enough from me, it's now time for you all to make your three prognostications. I haven't seen many this week but any Panthers fans visiting Da Chronic are more than welcome to take a shot. Just follow everyone's lead.

Good luck to everyone this week.

NOS-31 CAR-27

1) Saints win turnover differential by at least 2

2) Difference between Panthers and Saints’ total rushing yardage is less than 30 yards.

3) Steve Smith has 4 catches or less.

Bonus: Saints yards from penalty are greater than Delhomme’s 1st half passing yards

Yards from penalties from the game or from the first half?

from the game

I’m guessing Saints yards form penalty for game-95ish, Delhomme’s 1st half passing yards-65ish. It’s also my “bonus” pick, so it doesn’t really matter. Kind of a joke, but I bet it’s not far off.

Saints 36, Panthers 13

I did this quick and dirty analysis by comparing the Saints’ rushing offense vs. the Panthers’ rushing defense, Jake Delhomme’s passer rating vs. the Saints’ average passer rating allowed, etc. etc. etc.

Then I compiled the yardage you should expect from every aspect of the game, and the points each team averages per yard gained. And it came out 36-13. So that’s what I’m going with.

1. Saints get over 400 yards total offense.

2. Delhomme is responsible for four turnovers.

3. John Carney has a better game than John Kasay. (I know you hate non-quantifiable predictions, Dave…but you didn’t say this was the quantifiable prediction contest. You have to learn to be specific.)

I really beleive it

Our D is really good,I know a stat id like to see is how many TD,s not luck bombs have been scored on us from actual drives of 100-to 80 yards.I bet its real small i’d say 90 percent of the TDs scored against us is either turnovers from offense with short feild.I blown coverage on kickoff once again short feild or a couple long TD pass (philly, atl)and one long TD run (blown coverage).

No D can stop a OFF from making a few plays and even with all that weve had several red zone turnovers to equal that.Point is we get the kickoff corrected, the turnovers corrected, and the blown covereges practiced on.(witch weve seen them all dominate just not at the same time)than we will start shuting teams out .Give them a long feild and thay will not score

by darshiva420 on Nov 6, 2009 9:03 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

The only problem is

we ARE going to give up big plays. That’s just what happens when you play agressive defense the way we are. But you are definitely right. Are D has been good in the red zone and we have actually been pretty good after giving up short fields.
