Still under the radar?
On ESPN, Roger Staubach was asked for his superbowl prediction. He stated that he thought the Nfc is up for grabs between the Vikings, Cowboys, Eagles and Giants, and if he had to pick right now, he'd pick Vikings vs Patriots. Even though the Saints are 8-0, and have beaten both philly and the giants, he didnt even mention them in the convo....amazing. I guess he isnt aware of Romo's inability to play in the playoffs.

I just looooooove being under the radar!
I think Tiki Barber said it best (paraphrasing) “The best thing that can happen to the Saints is that they lose a game so they can re-focus on what matters, and that’s the playoffs!” 19 and 0 would be grea but, I’ll take a couple of losses and the Vince Lambardi Trophy ANY day!

And then there's this
Andrew Perloff of Sports Illustrated:
What is New Orleans’ signature win? The Saints beat the Eagles without Donovan McNabb, reeling Giants and Jets teams, and a Falcons squad that can’t play on the road. And they had to come from behind against slightly below-average Miami and Carolina.
Ignore for a moment that the Giants and Jets began to reel when they came to New Orleans, and ignore for a moment that Donovan McNabb doesn’t play defense, and ignore for a moment that come-from-behind wins are the hallmark of strong teams…8-0 is still 8-0 They’re so rare that having two of them is unprecedented.
But couple Perloff’s disrespect with the widely touted fact that (for now) the Saints’ remaining schedule is the easiest in the NFL, and you can see where things are leading: we’re an illusion, just a lot of glowing swamp gas. Fine by me…I hope the opposing coaches are as stupid as the chattering class.

IF
the Saints continue to win, and IF we look dominant in the playoff games, and IF we end up in the Superbowl, don’t you just know in your heart of hearts that Perloff will be saying, “Yea, there’s my boys!”
Andrew Perloff sounds like one of those guys who are just too wrapped up in statistics and trends and odds and all the other stuff that turns a “sports writer” into a cheap computer that spits out unreadable print that’s only suitable for the compost heap!
I wonder if Andy has ever actually played the game!

One look at that chump's picture
and I’m fairly certain the only pads he’s worn were between his legs.
The caption under the picture of Drew picking up the muffed snap is what got me: “Drew Brees and the Saints have not been that impressive.” Really? 303 points in 8 games isn’t impressive? A defense that has scored more TDs than some offenses isn’t impressive? What a joke.
Exactly right mississippisaintsfan – just another wannabe sports blogger trying to stir the pot.

They get points for readers, bottom line. Having an article that’s against the grain of everyone else’s thought processes tends to get you more readers than going with the norm. Look at Howard Stern. The majority of people that listen to him, don’t even like his show. In the end, it’s ratings and he gets paid.

I wonder if this guy
thinks the Colts are a great team, since they have struggled in at least three of their games this year(including a HOME game against Miami). Maybe the Vikings are great, with their come-from-behind miracle wins against powerhouses like the Packers and Ravens and 49ers. He’s probably thinking of the Pats, who once again showed how great a passing attack can be against the Titans and Bucs(but who had some trouble with the reeling Jets and the Bills at home). No, it’s the Steelers, who showed that even the worst defense in the league can’t blow a 30 point lead.
The lesson: Win a Super Bowl. Then you can be great, no matter how pitifully you play some times. Or be in the NFC East, where three SB contenders reside every year, even if they all stink for 50% of every season.
What you have to do is to turn his little body over so that when he does get it, he lands on his head and he doesn’t come back in for a while." -- Gregg Williams on Steve Smith.

We shouldn't be too surprised
Saints could win 3 SB’s in a row and all the nat. media will talk about is Jerry Jones & the Cowboys,NY Giants, T.O. ,Tom Brady and how bad the Raiders have become. And as far this season goes 1.Colts are kicking FG’s,2.Vikes D is good but can’t close the door 3. Pack looks like we did last yr. 5. Pitt is the only team that finds ways to win, but tough to repeat. 6.Pats have Tom Terrific/Belichick but aren’t the world beaters they once were. So its up to the Saints to keep focus, and not worry about these writers that hate us for not being Glamor Boys.

Did Kolb lose to the RAIDERS???
If I’m not mistaken, Kolb has the best QB passer rating for his team this year.

Let's look further into those signature wins
McNabb’s replacement looked good in every game he started. McNabb was shut down by the Raiders. Both the Giants and the Jets were unbeaten. The Falcons did beat the press’s glory team, the Patriots. Miami has been in every game they have played this year and were the preseason of Perloff to go the Superbowl for the AFC. By the way, he picked Carolina, who had three game winning streak going into the game, to win the South. Perloff writes to be contriversial even if he has to make up the contriversy. We are NOT flying under the radar. We don’t get the press, because New Orleans is a small market southern city. However, the Saints are ranked #1 in every major power poll. That is NOT flying under the radar. Everyone is gunning for the Saints now and are getting up to play us. This carries them early and gets them off to a good start. However, emotion can only carry you so far, before the fickle bitty known as momentum switches sides and the cream rises to the top.

We get no respect...
You know it’s funny. Before all those games mentioned by the supposed writer, everyone said “this will finally be a test for the Saints”. The Jets and Eagles defense, the surging (at the time) Dolphins wildcat, the Falcons surging play, and Delhomme never lost in the Dome. All this negative from national sports writers. They are trying to find the weaknesses in the Saints, but our guys keep battling back. It was the SAINTS that made the Jets, Eagles, and Falcons middle teams.
Let me tell ya, don’t respect us. Keep us on the bottom of the list…. It only adds fuel to the fire.

Saw that and this time heard it
Had audio muted b/c i was doing something on Sun. but i just heard the interview before MNF, wow ! is he having a geritol moment? its as if the Saints don’t exist, typical, and he wants the Cowgirls in the 2011 SB b/c its in Big D. i wonder if Sal Pal (off-camera) reminded him the Saints were 8-0, I dis-like the Cowboys but had respect for him, my Mom loved him,saw him play in person(in 2 SB’s) and met him one Sun. in his local Plano,TX church (my cousins attended 1970’s). Kinda disappointed he never even mentioned us.

Just keep winning baby
If we body slam Dallas again maybe they might come around, (Who really cares?) Only all those WHO DATS out there.

Just win
If we blow out the Rams and Bucs 77-0 a piece, then crush the Pats 33-10, and beat Dallas by 10, we probably won’t get all the credit that we, as fans, deserve we should be getting right now. Honestly though, who cares? This isn’t college football, where if a Coach says your team isn’t that great, then you don’t get to go to the big game. We keep winning games and who really cares what they say when we’re in the playoffs, winning big games and taking home the SB rings. Then, they’ll call us the cardinals from last year but just slightly better and we’ll go back to being that team that no one picks to win.

What you guys don't get is
Dallas, Philadelphia, New York, Boston and Pittsburgh are all huge markets. They need those markets to be interested to sell their papers and to get ratings. So they have to hype the Cowgirls, Eagles, Giants, Jets, Patriots and Steelers to keep those fan’s interest. They cannot afford for those markets to lose hope. The Cowgirls will self-destruct unless Romo has grown a backbone and can win a playoff game. The Eagles’s defense is so eratic. The Giants and Jets can’t get it together. The Patsies have defensive problems that will rear its ugly head against the Colts. Well, I have to admit the Steelers are the defending Champs and look good.

are small market(sorry)
and won’t get the attention so much as those teams for the reasons you pointed out but that’s mostly because they have a history of winning whereas the Saints don’t, imo. I don’t really care for getting alot of coverage now that i’ve found this site but before, when I relied on ESPN and other sports networks for my Saints info, I hated not bing mentioned ever except as an afterthought.

For those of you...
…using the “small market” argument:
Green Bay is CONSIDERABLY smaller as a home market than NOLA, and they still get a great deal of national attention. Why? They were at one time WINNERS.
The Saints are working their way into that now, they win a Lombardi Trophy, and they’ll get similar attention.
Irony: An atheist Saints fan.

The trophy is name the "LOMBARDI TROPHY", so that could have something to do with it.

Why is everyone so surprised?
A former Cowboy is picking three teams from his former division to be contenders. I don’t find that too surprising in the least.
I’d say the Falcons are better than any of the teams in the East and that the Panthers could challenge each of them, but I guarantee you that any fan from the East would be calling me crazy. It’s just favoritism. The man’s entitled to his opinion.
