Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Greer could be back in time for the regular season finale at Carolina if the Saints want to get him some live work, but more likely he will remain sidelined until their playoff opener. With just one more victory, the Saints will be guaranteed a first-round bye in the playoffs.

Satch, do you work?

How come you ALWAYS beat me to these?

Yes, you can call what I do work

When in the office, I usually work 30 minutes, then surf the net 30 minutes every hour for 8 hours a day. Of course, to all my coworkers, it looks like I’m hard at it all day. Ever see the Seinfeld episode where George pretended to be stressed and overworked so his bosses would leave him alone? That’s my work philosophy. Don’t tell my bosses. :-)

Great episode and philosphy

as far as Jabari, damn this sports hernia injury is all the rage, whats going on, Will Smith played all yr. wth it, Shockey missed some games, LT Brown out all yr. plus a hip,the type of injury that is a graded/degree type, man, Jabari the one guy we thought could return this wk. Guess with position we have and other teams’ injury status we should be so lucky. Knock on Wood, heal up Jabari !!!!!

I know it's a different episode Satch, but are you the one who did the great work with the Penske file?

until divisional playoff assuming a first-round bye. Get well, Jabari. You have a date with Larry Fitzgerald.

Hopefully they will be in the Vikes side of the draw...

Kurt Warner, Fitz, Bolden, their underrated defense, their underrated running backs, and their underrated coaching staff scare me. I’ll take the Pack, the ’Boys, or the Eagles instead of the Cards. Honestly, with the way the Saints D has looked since the Dolphins game, everyone scares me. Homefield is key obviously and Saints D has played better at home.

Because Lee Harvey and G Dub are supremely confident in Malcolm Jenkins

You can do it, MJ. Focus. Just don’t let him get behind you. Stay with him. Be alert for when the ball is in the… OH GAAAAA!!!! MALCOLM…… GAAAAA!!!!

Lee Harvey?

You’re cracking me up again Stu. Is that your name for Payton? I don’t quite get it, but it’s funny.

Malcolm looked very good against Tom Brady and Wes Welker and they’re supposedly the best in the league. I think he’ll do consistently better on turf as opposed to the cold Maryland swamp he had to play in last Sunday. McKenzie too. At least, that’s what I’m hoping for.

Yeah I don't get it either

Some guy on PFT called him that and it struck my fancy because it’s so weird. I guess he sort of looks like him kinda not really.

lmao!

I’ll admit there is a resemblance. We mustn’t allow Payton to also become a patsy. I guess this makes Mickey Loomis’ beard the grassy knoll.

Not really. I'm sure he'll be fine.

You think they’ll put McKenzie on Roddy White? Roddy’s pretty fast. Better put the rookie on him. But 27’s not really that fast. He likes to pullemup on the receiver’s jersey just to keep things at hand.

Maybe we should chip in for hyperbaric chamber treatments for Jabari.

so do you know anything about Porter and his knee?

by Saintsfan4life on Dec 10, 2009 3:37 PM CST reply actions

I wish

they would have spotted the Hernia earlier…. he would have been back at least by the Carolina game to get some work in a dn shake off the rust. But as long as he’s 100% healthy its cool.

Get ready to FEEL DAT BREES!!!

The surgery was on Tuesday so McCal was cut regardeless (and also Payton said it was because they were unhappy with his performance)

Yes they wasted time and the hernia has been misdiagnosed… do you seriously believe he will be 100% when is back… Williams better come out with something or get those second stringers to cover…. sucks…. hang on… we are the team of destiny so no problem… jeez

Put Jonathan Casillas in, and play the same sort of defense Arizona played against the Vikings, where they had linebackers dropping deep (Favre never knew which ones) and lurking for interceptions. Casillas is fast…like, cornerback fast. It would be like having a hybrid nickel as a base defense. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

I hear you...

I am sure Williams will pull out another jack in the box…

But which one is it… the banged up secondary that shuts down the Pats… or the one that get torched by the Skins… this is killing me… lol

5 weeks

That’s how long we’ll have before our first playoff game. I think Greer will be healed by then and able to contribute. Porter should also be back by then or just before. A sprained knee usually takes four to five weeks and he’s already been out almost four.

I hope you are right

But there is nothing worse than rushing people back from injuries… both for the players and the team

Remember Redman's starting

need more pressure from D Line, secondary will be aight.

Word.

If our D-line had produced anything to be proud of last week, maybe our third-stringers at the corners wouldn’t have looked so bad. The D-line is like the only healthy and fully rotatable part of the defense left. If they can’t do the job, everybody’s in trouble.

If Casillas is that fast, I hope they start using him more

I originally was in favor of the Saints losing 1 game, and then I changed, thinking let’s go for it, let’s win out. But, now I think it’s pretty clear. We need to put healthy players on the field during the rest or the regular season and allow injured players to heal. If we win, that’s great, but it’s more important for key players to recover. There is plenty of time for players such as Greer, Fujita, Bell, Bush, Young, Moore, Mc Cray etc to recover and if we don’t do this correctly we can be at a big disadvantage for the playoffs.

This is the reason a loss may be a blessing in disguise at this point.

I still don’t want one, but at least Payton would take his foot off the pedal. We’re still playing divisional games, and playing for HFA, but the defense is looking very lacy right now. If Casillas can cover a TE, I hope they do get him involved. If anybody can cover a TE, I hope they get involved. The short crossing routes are killing us right now. I think the depleted depth is taking away GW’s ability to make adjustments to offenses in general, but hopefully a full week of preparation with defined starters at LB and DB will sew that up a little.
