Falcons Babineaux Busted for Ganja 1045 pm last night

Falcons' Babineaux charged with drug possession Associated Press LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux has been arrested and charged with marijuana possession. Gwinnett County Police Cpl. David Schiralli says Babineaux was arrested during a traffic stop on Interstate 85 in suburban Atlanta around 10:45 p.m. Thursday. Schiralli says the 28-year-old Babineaux had nearly 1 1/2 ounces of marijuana and is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Intent to distribute charges can be brought any time someone has more than an ounce. Babineaux also faces charges for having expired registration and driving without a license. He was released from the Gwinnett County jail Friday morning on $8,300 bond. A spokesman for the Falcons did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment. Can it get any worse for the hapless Falcons?

Well as a matter of fact it can they have to play the Saints this week

actually

this idiot was already limited in practice this week, so if they decided to sit him for being a bonehead it wouldn’t be a big factor in the game as there was a 50/50 shot of him actually playing. Wondering what Dave the Falconer has to say about his idiot?

Bottom Line:

The law, right or wrong in the end, is the law.

This IDIOT decided he was either above it, or it somehow didn’t apply to him, and now he’s paying the price. Worse yet, his TEAM is paying it too (or will tomorrow), which is totally unforgivable.

Playing professional football is not a right, it is a privilege. Just because you’re big/fast/talented doesn’t give you the right to flaunt the rules that all people are required (like them or not) must live by.

We can make quite a list of people that should not even be playing the game right now, but are, because in the end, the rules that WE have to live by are not applied equally to people like this. They get a slap on the wrist then get to go back and make millions of dollars playing a game.

I love football, the game is a wonderful thing, but there should be a limit to what we allow those that have the privilege to play the game can get away with.

That limit should be the same exact one WE have. They cannot be held above us.

Sadly, some are (I’m talkin’ to you, dog abuser/gambler man; I’m talkin’ to you DUI/Manslaughter man; I’m talkin’ to you make it rain/get involved in a shootout man), but that does not make it OK, nor does it mean that this idiot deserves any more consideration than you or I.

not really sure

Smoking a little pot is not exactly dog fighting or shooting guns at people.

Reading comprehension:

It matters.

I did not make a value judgement about Babineaux’s “crime”, just that it was, indeed, and without question as of this time, a crime.

He broke the law, he pays a price, and is not going to be available to his team mates, whether or not he WOULD have been able to go, now he WON’T be able to suit up (or he SHOULDN’T be able to). He let his team down by doing something stupid.

I did not pass value judgement on the crime (that’s a totally different topic – but if you must know, I think that the laws regarding marijuana in this country are laughable, and I’ve never touched the stuff, nor do I intend to), just on the mentality of the individual accused of it, and how that affects the people around him; then continued on to point out how his (and many other players in the NFL) let their selfish interests come before that of their team, the organization, and most importantly the fans that support them in the privilege of playing a game and becoming a millionaire doing so.

As for the comparison you bring up, well, didn’t I do so first? I think the unnamed but very obvious individuals mentioned should be flipping burgers or down in Cellblock H, but the NFL, in all it’s wisdom, disagrees.

Acceptance is approval. :-\

He was STUPID, because he knew the rules, and thought himself to not be subject to them, right, wrong, or indifferent of the validity of said rules.

I’m very thankful that (so far), we have not had issues such as this on our Saints, and hope that remains the case. It is so much more satisfying to be a fan of a team and organization that has the class displayed each and every day as that of the New Orleans Saints, and very sad to see this happen to the good fans (and there ARE good ones) of any team in the NFL.

This pathetic piece of self-centered human flotsam, along with all those like him, should be banned from the game. If the NFL were to take this seriously, and there were indeed VERY serious consequences for those that don’t treat this as a privilege instead of their absolute right, then this kind of idiotic behaviour would cease – nothing will make you see reality like the loss of your ability for whatever reason to do that which you love to do and be paid like a king for doing it. If you see your peers getting bounced out of the league for being idiots, and NEVER being allowed back in, don’t you think it’d stop pretty quickly?

No Room for Bias Here

Saintslam, sounds like the only crimes that should be a crime are the ones that Black people have broken? There’s no room for racism here

by JAHson on Dec 12, 2009 2:24 PM CST up reply actions

?

Not sure where the race line has been drawn, and actually I never really said that Babineaux deserved a pass, just making a distinction between crimes that hurt beings and ones that don’t. And saying I think many people famous and unknown, important and lowly, at times cross a line or two and it was unlucky for him to be caught. As far as this particular issue you may not have ever touched the stuff but it seems you horse has and you might want to get off for a while.

Oh great, now I'M a racist?

I’m Seminole Indian, let’s TALK about racism, how ’bout it?

:-P

The dude did something stupid, he got caught doing it, he’s paying a price, and it’s costing his team, the organization, and the fans, and I’M the bad guy for pointing it out?

Calling ANYTHING I’ve posted “racist” is laughable.

I’m NOT on a high horse here, I’m pointing out the REALITY of the situation: like it or not, pot is illegal, he got busted for it, it will cost him.

End of discussion, right?

Let’s get back to something we can agree on: GEAUX SAINTS!

;-)

Agreed

Like I said I did not refer to race, JAHson did, and I don’t really know if he said you or I was one.

by saintslam on Dec 12, 2009 3:07 PM CST up reply actions

Cool.

I did say I thought that the laws in this country in relation to marijuana are “laughable”. I really think that.

However, they ARE the law, and if you’re making millions of dollars, don’t you think you should be aware that you’re at risk of LOSING that privilege by breaking them?

Babineaux’s actions hurt himself, which is bad. What’s REALLY stupid is that they hurt his team, the organization, and most of all the FANS.

It wouldn’t matter if he were a Wookie, he did something stupid, race has no bearing on it.

Media Moles

This is irrelevant. he probably wouldn’t have played anyway. Just another media flip floping story. Don’t ya’ll see what the media is doing??? Any story that they can cover that shows weekness in a Saint’s oponent yet to be played, helps them explain why another W is placed in the Saints’ win column. They just can’t admit that skill drove a win. Instead, I’ts always " The (oponent) lost", not “THE SAINTS WON”. I hate those in the media that think they already know it all and how it should be. Stop the manipulation and just report the news. WHO DAT…..Saints 42, Falcons 10.

Fine by me....

…the weaker the press tries to make the Saints look, the more foolish they will seem once the Lombardi is sitting in the Saints offices on David Drive, hm?

Not to mention, maybe some of their opponents will be foolish enough to actually BELIEVE this garbage.
