Reggie Reggie!!!

Capt

Heisman Trophy winning, media darling dating and a over hyped tag.............WHO CARES!!!

Reggie Bush is a good FOOTBALL player no question about it!!!  He gives our beloved Saints another dimension that most other teams would dream to have.  In all of his efforts he makes some pretty "Brain Fart" esk plays and tries to hard to make something out of nothing resulting in negative yardage I understand more than you might think, but are yall watching the same Reggie as I am?

The Dude did a Michael Jordan style super jump from the Miami 5 yard line to score a must need Touchdown against the Dolphins earlier this year, then almost duplicated the same effort against the Rams!!  He flies all over the field Running or Catching the ball (Like in this picture taken from todays game).  I have to admit Reggie Bush should not be returning punts, It gives me a heart attack every time the other team kicks to him, but I cannot knock him for just Punts!!!

Last year this guy was having a huge year then got hurt, this year more of the same thing.  Bush will always have his haters it is natural when you are successfull but from Saints fans? man he plays hard for the Black & Gold nation.  Today was just another impressive tick on his resume, ohh and I did see him go up the middle a few times and got knocked around a bit..............he's comming around.

Geaux Reggie Keep on Keeping on Bro!!!

Dont forget about what he did to the Cowboys in 2006, I am sure they dont!!!

Agree

Reggie has so much talent, he and the coaches are just trying to figure out how to get the most out of him, and personally I think Reggie’s best years are still ahead. IF he is not continually hampered by serious injuries he will get better and better…because he has MAD athleticism and he want’s to be great and part of something great.
PS I didn’t like it when he went out of bounds last week short of the first seemingly to avoid the hit involved with trying for the first…but he aint perfect yet…so what! I would hate to face him if we lost him to the Falcons or Bucs or Carolina twice a year…

Reggie is a Saint through & through........

The boy may be flawed but he’s black & gold in and out and he gives great effort even when he fails. I’ll take an unselfish player who appreciates being a Who Dat over someone just looking for a championship and a paycheck….He’s been a part of the rebuilding of this team and every player is not a superstar. Maybe expectations for Reggie were too high. Maybe he’s just going to be a good solid player who will bust his ass with effort and never be the superstar that people thought that he would be. The guy’s loves being a Saint. Thats good enough for me.. Cha Ching!!!

BOOM rec'd it

Really nice pic, thanks for putting that up, it’s my new desktop.

Reggie is not a featured back. But he is one hell of a change of pace back. Hope his knees hold up for a few more years.

if they manage his number of touches as they have this year, I see no reason why he shouldn't be able to play for 7-10 more years

and dang, if he gets over 1000 yards combined rushing and receiving with 10-12 TDs annually (and any return TDs would be delicious GRAVY), that’s pretty SWEET, isn’t it?

I think the 3 headed monster we have is great. We even have Hamilton busting big plays to? Seems like the O-Line got it together this off season.

Reggie has made some considerable contributions this season

i don’t think any of our other backs could do what he does. Those TDs were sweet. He adds a dimension to our very potent offense that makes other teams scratch their heads. Linebackers surely don’t want to see him on the field.

definitely agree

i’d like to see him get more touches though. i thought he ran well yesterday and on some of those third downs, i’d like to see reggie out there. i’d REALLY like to see reggie and pierre out there for a complete series. that will totally mess with opposing defenses’ heads.

rotoworld.com:

Dec. 14 – 11:19 am et
Saints coach Sean Payton raved about Reggie Bush after Sunday’s win in Atlanta.
Bush was benched for a long period in the second half of the Week 13 win against the Redskins. “Like I said to these guys (in the locker room), I yell at a player about 10 times a game, but when I yell at Reggie Bush it’s national news,” Payton said. Bush is out of the doghouse and looking very healthy. He’s only usable if Mike Bell (knee) remains out and you’re in a PPR league.

Look at that picture again. Look VERY closely.

That’s pretty “flashy” and not exactly orthodox running. Many say that style of play is going to catch up with him.

Now, to all the Reggie Bush critics. How critical would you be if that was a picture of the winning touchdown in the Superbowl?

Think about it. (Ok, times up.) Well . . . . . . . ?

Payton even talked about how Reggie consumes so much attention……THIS GUY AINT GOING ANYWHERE PERIOD!!!

by Saintsfan4life on Dec 14, 2009 10:33 PM CST reply actions

I like fishing too

but an 8 million dollar lure with 8-10 touches per game is a little steep. The Saints have shown that they can win without him. If he was just consistant with plus yardage, he might be worth third round draft money

by saint-sly on Dec 15, 2009 2:27 PM CST up reply actions

Again...Reggie is only a change

of pack back. He will be gone after next season because he’s going to want featured back money, which he clearly is not. His receiving skills are the only thing that make him a threat, as well as the matchup problems he presents, but his running style and production are far too inconsistent.

by DeuceisLoose926 on Dec 15, 2009 9:49 AM CST reply actions

This “change of pace back” is a scoring machine! Look at the first few games last year before injury.

by TAYDIGGA on Dec 15, 2009 11:28 AM CST up reply actions   1 recs

last time i checked, "change of pace" is pretty much self explanatory.

How many featured backs in the league are averaging 6 carries per game because that is what he is averaging. as i stated his receiving skills and matchup problems make him a threat and he is having a good season with regard to YPC because……you guessed it – HE IS AVERAGING 6 CARRIES A GAME AND IS A CHANGE OF PACE RUNNING BACK!! i love having him on the team but some of you guys fluff him too much and probably want to give him peterson money in 2 years

by DeuceisLoose926 on Dec 15, 2009 6:07 PM CST up reply actions

that's just it...

your comments about him are based solely on what other’s think and not on the fact that the dude is doing what needs to be done. That’s all. I don’t think the money is much of a concern for Reg. I bet you he will take less money for a bigger role elsewhere if it pops up.

If the guy is way bigger then why try to doze him? I notice Reggie likes to dive forward or something to avoid the big hits, kinda smart to me if you’re an 205lb 6ft running back.

I’m sorry but I have to say it and there is no other way around it. I have had my criticisms but I have to be objective. Reggie is not only a Saint, but a Saint that is very important to the team. And Cold Pizza is a total asshole when it comes to recognizing Reggie’s value to the team.

It's the context

If we were paying Reggie Bush what we pay Pierre Thomas or Lance Moore, nobody would have a problem with Bush. He’s got a unique skill set that is ideal for 5-7 touches a game. He could be a niche player, something DeSean Jackson has done with great success. And if RB only got 5-7 touches, the injries wouldn’t be as big a problem either. He could probably average something like 35-60 total ypg and 8 TDs a season. That’d be a real nice player to have.

The problem is that a niche guy can’t be getting paid like he’s your starting defensive end/left tackle. And his expectations have to come down from NFL MVP to contributor on Super Bowl Team. We’ll see if RB can make the adjustment this offseason.

by thekourt on Dec 16, 2009 7:51 AM CST reply actions

Payloo have managed the salaries/money well, so it's not really a problem that Reggie is overpaid

at least it’s not our problem.

I do ...

I do believe Payton’s cautious approach with Reggie will pay in spades over the remaining 3 games and then as we march into the playoffs.

He is healthy, fresh …
a nightmare for Defenses to game plan for …
and he has something to prove to the neigh sayers.

I hope everyone is enjoying the ride we are on.
Soak it in …
and savor it as our team may not be in a similar position or as great again for years to come!!!

I pray to God that Breesus and the boys come away Super Bowl Champions!

also... with the limited touches reggie gets

there’s not enough out there for teams to use as game plan material

by nanvinnie on Dec 16, 2009 3:07 PM CST up reply actions

thats an excellent

point, before defenses would game plan to stop him, but now they are preoccupied with stopping brees, colston, thomas….. but Reggie will be a beast in the playoffs, just get him some touches. Which other running back who gets 5 rush attempts and 4 rec a game has 8 touchdowns… come on. Chris Johnson has 314 touches with 13 TD’s and is considered MVP already. lets get homeboy more touches, esp in the redzone where he is determined to get in that endzone by any means necessary.

GEAUX REGGIE!!

I know a lot of fans aren’t big Reggie suporters because he never got that between the tackles game going. That stutter step makes me crazy too. lol What he does have is a nose for the goal line! He doesn’t get them like some monster backs that just power in up the gut. He does it with determination and skills. A TD is a TD but damn he is fun to watch . Defenses have to stack the line and make who ever gets it go around. Reggie goe’s around with style! GEAUX REGGIE GEAUX SAINTS kick dem Cowboys azzes !!

by saints-fan-in-miss on Dec 16, 2009 6:31 PM CST reply actions

Money

He gets paid a phat chunck of coin, but he is a muli-tool, clearly he is a running back on paper but the guy is truely one of our best receivers. He gets paid a Hybrid style pay check because he runs both positions (RB & WR) very well. I watch NFL Replay for the 2nd day today and boy was Reggie on fire last Sunday.

GIVE THE MAN SOME PROPS!!!

He is a success…………..MARIO WHO?

Touches

I never thought about the touches nanvinnie. Thats a good call.

by Saintsfan4life on Dec 16, 2009 7:56 PM CST reply actions

Have you noticed how opposing defences hustle more when Reggie has the ball.....

or is it just me? Thier persuit gets faster, they hit a little harder and gang tackle more. I guess that taking the head off a Heisman Trophy winning first rounder trumps tackling a free agent. ( Not to take anything away from our great free agents)

Though I have been critical of his production in the past , he has continued to grow and improve and seems a lot tougher as well.

I can easily see Reggie shining throughout the playoffs and the Super Bowl ensuring his future with the Saints and setting the tone for the rest of his career.

He said it was

a pulled hamstring, but a minor one. After the game, he said he had never had a pulled hamstring below, and he plans to be back on wed for practice. Im pissed cuz I know he was gonna score on that play, there was too much green in front of him, I think he got over-excited and had a case of the premature bust.

sidenote: Im black myself, but my homeboy Charles Grant is so dark he looks lite blue under that helmet. He passed the end of the color spectrum and is on his way back right now!!!!!! And Lance Moore is the exact opposite, but i heard light skin brothers are back in this season….

Why you ask, because Reggie will kill on grass, his game is tailor made for cutbacks. U say well, that same grass will slow him down as well, however its very different when you are making a cutback compared to reacting to cutback. He knows where he wants to cut, defense dont, gives him the advantage. Either way, i guess the turf will just have to make him faster then everyone else.
