Fear of the Past

Gris Gris Man, I feel your pain.  Our New Orleans Saints are sitting here at 13-0 for the first time ever and fans are complaining about "ugly wins".  Bitching/complaining about how bad our defense is, about bad play calling (fake FG), and any player not on a highlight reel.  It's fear, fear of the past.  Being a lifelong Saints fan, we've been on the losing side of "ugly" for years.   How many times have we watched our Saints fall apart at the end of a season?  Far too many....

It's been said several times this year, these are not the Saint's of the past.  For some it's just words, though they want to believe, fear of the past creeps in.  It's time we all embrace this years Saints.  I mean really, we are 13 and 0.  Perfect.  Without loss.  What else can you say?  Have we given up alot of yards, lately?  Yes.  Have we given up alot of points?  Yes.  Have we missed some 3rd and 4th down conversions?  Yes.

HAVE WE LOST A GAME?  NO!!!

We have had several key starters out on the defensive side of the ball.  These are not players on IR, but are players we will get back before the playoffs.  Not only will they be back, but several other players are gaining true game reps.  We should field the same aggressive, ball hawking defense that we saw early this year, for the playoffs.  The offense is just scary good.  Anyone can second guess playcalling, but the aggressiveness is what makes the Saints hard to defend.  So what is there to fear?  I don't see anything...........

Don't fear the future, because of the past.  This Saints team has no fear and I can proudly say for the first time ever, I also have NO FEAR!!

There’s a line between “the sky is falling” and “this really needs improvement”. Figuring out where that line is, however, isn’t easy. And calling your opponent names — whichever side you are on (yes I’m pointing fingers at BOTH sides here) — isn’t going to convince them you are right. All you do is piss your opposition off, shut down rational thought and engage knee-jerk “what an idiot” responses.

MtnExile had a rational response. Whether he’s right or not, he presented a logical, calm, mostly polite argument for his position. You just called people names. And you, and everybody else like you on this side AND the other, need to cut it out.

I can not disagree with any thing you just said MtnExile

I can appreciate that there are different ways to enjoy being a fan. I am not, even though I am a witch doctor, a man of science as much as a happy coonass New Orleans Saints fan and although I do see the merit of intelligent critique and though my post was attacking the critiques I am just trying to say….rah rah rah…and enjoy…it was a little controversial for a point, I don’t really deny the fact that I can see the validity of your side, just pushing my own! Respect and enjoy the differences in all of us…Peace Out.

Wow!!!!!

That’s why we have more than one flavor of ice cream. I think we all see it a little different and I’m not calling out any “fan”. The point to my post was, hope is not lost. Even though we have struggled on defense, we still have not lost a game and will get some key starters back by the playoffs. I would love a perfect season, but it’s all about the SB. Would I like to see blowouts every game? Of course. My wife already thinks I’ve lost my mind, when I yell at the TV. Do I think we have room for improvement? Yes, alot. Is it fun to have discussions about all aspects of our Saints team? You bet. But the one thing I feel the best about, no matter what we think (and some are out there IMO), is our coaching staff. I do think they are making the decisions that are best for this team. Are they perfect? No, but can you remember ever having one better? I can’t. WHO DAT!!!!!!

"I said this early on, that this was a good football team, they just maybe had to have a stick put in certain parts of their body to play a little harder in certain places." - Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.

Constructive criticism never hurt anybody

The fans who imply that anyone who does nothing other than constantly chant “13-0” and “Who Dat?” are somehow “lesser” fans….. it’s the same group that thinks any sports writer or analyst who makes even a slight criticism of the Saints is a “hater”.

I not only want the Saints to win the Super Bowl, I expect it. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t recognize that Charles Grant is currently playing like a large lump of crap. And that has nothing to do with “fear of the past”. It’s actually knowledge of the present.

ahhh

ok, just being me…lol I know everyone loves the Saints, I know there are different ways to share your love of the Saints like the rah rah BS I love or the researched critique of the every changing challenge we have with the players an injuries and lack of ability…but we really are a different organization and that is what really counts…we are winning and doing it with all the short comings you guys analyze…so I’m just saying, 13 – 0 BRO!

saints of the past. NOT!!!

Just my opinion but here goes. I want to see the SB as bad as the next guy,but if it doesn’t happen. MAN has this been a ride or what! It has always been next year. Knowing damn well next year would bring the smae or similar second or third tier players, coaches results. I say that chit is O V E R.! Thie organization has grown up. We are seeing the building of an elite franchise before our eyes. Sinse Payton came in and cleaned house it was on. Get’s Brees. Fired damn near anyone with this team. Started picking and choosing. Last year. Great offense, no D. This year. We are 13-0. It isn’t over at the last tick of the clock in Miami. Next years saints will be better. This is how monster franchises are built. Enjoy the ride . I am. GEAUX SAINTS KICK DEM COWBOYS AZZES

Coaches We Are Not

You want to be an armchair QB like the rest of the talking heads & ex-jocks in the booth, go right ahead, that is your right, but dont think we are less of a fan cuz we take the team for what it is. Let the players play, let the coaches coach, and let the fans get drunk and have fun, is my motto.

Shall I be more verbose?

I am definitely in the camp of RAH! RAH! It’s kinda like when I first came to this site a few months ago. It was pointed out that certain posts could just be ignored by those who don’t want to read them Duh! So, I scan the ones that get into gory detail of this player or that player. But, I’ll admit it. I am NOT a big football fan. I pretty much despise the NFL organization of greedy idiots and, if it weren’t for the Saints, I could easily skip football altogether. Gimme WHODAT!!! Gimme voodoo!! I am NOT the one that needs to make the Saints win. In fact, it would be just so scary if my analysis/thoughts/superstitions could atually make a difference.

Well, anyways, you see GGM? You got me started….

It Is What It Is................

We can talk about it and complain about it all we want but there is not a damn thing that we can do about it except Keep the Faith and Hope for the Best. It is all in Sean Payton’s hands and in the injury God’s hands. So…… go crazy worrying about it if you want… I am going to continue to live in and enjoy the moment… WHO Dat !!!!! P.S. Like watching San Fran. beat the crap out of Arizona. Half time….

There are two different ways to be a fan

Since I have been a part of this blog, I have noticed that there are two corners here. The corner that bitches and complains about everything from media access to play calling to the color of pants the players wear. And there’s the other corner (which I’m in) where we just enjoy the game that we are watching. If we win, I brag all week like I had something to do with it, and if we loose I forget it, because I didn’t have a thing to do with it. I’m a fan because I love them, win or loose. When it starts to piss me off, I’ll stop watching. 40 years, and so far, that hasn’t happened. Who Dat for life!!!

This is OUR year!! Yea, I said it. Who Dat!!!

I'm trying to accept the things I cannot change

And with that mentality, I have made up my mind to simply enjoy being a fan of a winning team. Yes, the Saints aren’t perfect, but their record is. Focusing on why they should have lost isn’t going to make the team any better, so lets enjoy the fact that a W is a W at the end of the day when they tally up winning percentages.

I totally get why a lot of Saints fans don’t hold this same view. We’ve been burned before when we got our hopes up. I don’t blame you, really I don’t. But for me, I’ll keep drinking the kool-aid, clutching my gris gris, and sticking my fingers in my ears when any negativity starts.

Good comments on both sides. I always hate when the two sides start calling out who is the real fan.

I’m more of the drinking the kool-aid kind of guy, but I do revert to my bad habits when watching the Saints defense in the last couple of games. I just think Saints Fans(Me) want it so bad that they fear the defense is going to let them down like last year. We have been proven wrong 13 games now, so until we lose I gotta have faith our defense will not cost us a game. I also think some people wish our team get a little bit more respect through the media and the focus of the media has been about our defense. It shouldn’t matter, but I know I get tired of the media pointing out our defense week in and week out. We need to realize there is not one perfect team out there right now in all phases of the game, each team is very beatable. I was worried about the Cards, but SF man handle the offense last night. Vikings lost to the Cards a week ago. The Colts didn’t look sharp for the whole game against the Broncos. Eagles gave up a ton points to the Giants. Dallas doesn’t look good and I think our secondary will get a good test on Saturdary. The best looking team right now is the Chargers, but they had their early season problems. I guess my point is we are doing just fine at 13-0.

Simply put

Simply put I love my Saints Win-lose or draw. We have already gotten the following monkey’s off our franchises back:
Never won a playoff game
Never been to the NFC championship.

We will soon get the never been to the SuperBowl and never won the Superbowl monkeys off our backs. I have loved the direction of the Saints since Payton took over, no complaints here.

Inlike some of the other teams fans we Saints fans do not need a Superbowl win to validate our exisistence in this world. We are Saints fans, our bandwagon is always open to new fans, but when they leave we are still onboard, still Saints fans, still in love with the Black and Gold.

I fear the future much moreso than the past. This year’s team hasn’t won a playoff game yet, unlike two past Saints teams.

Da new fella

How all my fellow WhoDat!!! Nation Super Saints fans doing out here today, hope all is well with each and every one of yall. I been reading along with yall for a few weeks now (Used to read Fox till I found out about yall, but this here CSC is better to me by far). I feel like a lot of yall bout OUR Saints, greatful for the wins, but there are times during those wins that I get worried (You betta have a good ticka if you gon be a Saints fan, chere’). For me (I wont say the name I’ll only refer to it as ‘The 19th Game’) the 19th game is the most important one, but I cant say I wouldn’t want us to win um all. To get to the point of it all, I agree with GGM we need to just be greatful fans that we have such a team that if we choose to we can brag about now , but I also see where MTN is comming from, as I dont want to turn a blind eye to what other teams may see in us (cause we see it you betta believe dem other teams see it too). Special Thanks to Fluer De Lis for unknowingly letting me know this site existed, it seems to be the perfect home for Saints fans fa sho. All in all Imma Saints fan to the bone grissle win or lose been that way since I was itty bitty and it’s gon stay that way till I’m grey. WHO DAT!!!WE DAT!!!DEM SAINTS DAT!!!!PLEASE BELIEVE DAT!!!!!
