Cowboys's Williams: "We should be victorious [in New Orleans]"
Today Roy Williams decided to run his mouth about how the Cowboys were going to come to New Orleans and give the Saints their first loss of the season. It was picked up as a top 10 story by ESPN.com. The short article is definitely worth a read. More after the jump.
Roy also decided that the Cowboys will beat the Saints en route to the playoffs. "If we pack our bags and show up in New Orleans on Saturday night," he said, "we should be victorious."
I cannot top the article's report. Here it is quoted directly:
With a straight face, Williams said he is also looking forward to a rematch with the Saints in the Superdome.
"This is a two-round fight, and this is just the first round, in my eyes," Williams said. "I don't know about everybody else, but I think we're going to see this team in the playoffs down the road."

I guess we'll find out on Saturday, Roy. It doesn't help that America's Team (hahahaha) will be without DeMarcus Ware who is out with a neck injury.

You mean Dallas is going to win a December game this year and actually make it to the playoffs in the first place? Well, I suppose it could happen. But if I was him, I wouldn’t exactly be holding my breath at the moment.

I think this qualifies as an "aaaw, isn't that cute" moment
Roy Williams thinks he’s a big boy now. I bet he still thinks he’s their #1 receiver too. But seriousely, if I were a cowboys fan this is what I would expect from my players. If you don’t think you have a shot at winning then just stay home. But saying you “should” win if you “pack your bags and show up” is a bit cocky. Especially when you are on the road against an unbeaten team and your team is 5-10 in December over the past 4 years.

The Cowboys are actually 6-10 in December over the past 4 years. The Saints are 6-11 over the same stretch. The only reason for there’s a different number of games played in the month is because Dallas played on 11/29/07 (a Thursday night game), which they won. So, I surely don’t see that something to cast stones over. Not that past seasons matter much, either way. I expect a competitive game Saturday night, especially considering how banged up our secondary is right now.

Because I pointed out that we’ve performed just as poorly over the same stretch? Well heck, just change it to read the past three years. Then we’re magically the better team you want us to be.

drop off, not just wins
CP – I believe it is 7-10 (Dal) and 7-11 (NO) for the past 4 years in December. And yes, past seasons don’t matter much. But, you are only looking at each team’s wins in December. When I think about Dallas and December, I look at how Dallas tapers off in December.
In the past 4 years, NO has had a win percentage of 0.47 prior to Dec and 0.38 in Dec, which is not a substantial drop off. However, in the same time frame DAL has had a win percentage of 0.72 prior to Dec and 0.41 in Dec, which is substantial.

I don’t dislike the Cowboys as much as I did growing up. To be honest, there’s really no NFL team I outright despise. I suppose I’ve just outgrown the “us” vs “them” aspect of sports rivalries and learned the respect the game for what it is. Not saying I don’t want to see the Saints destroy the Cowboys, Falcons, etc., it’s just no more passionate a desire for me than any other victory.

My hatred of the Cowpatties is genetic...
…the first time I ever heard my mom say a “bad” word was when she was walking by me (I was about 12) while I was watching some football game involving Dall@$$ and the commentator referred to them as “America’s Team”.
Her comment: “F*** you, I’ll pick my own team!”
Mom raised me right.
I wish she were here to see her beloved boys in black & gold about to do what she dreamed of at the beginning of each season. Miss ya ma!!!

that would be a great slogan for a T-Shirt:
America’s Team…. F*** you, I’ll pick my own team.
Classic. Your mom raised you right indeed.

Can somebody going to the game get that made in time to wear Sat night? Because if so, they should try to do it. It would be like the F the Eagles girl, talked about for years afterward.

Cocky? Hardly
I think Roy’s statement actually demonstrates his teams’ loser mentality. A cocky winner would come out and say they WILL win the game, not that they SHOULD win the game. This guy is such a bust, only Jerry Jones would trade for this chump. With all the cash he’s making he SHOULD be the number one receiver on the team, but in reality he is 3rd at best. I saw the ESPN clip of him making these dumb remarks in front of his locker that was decorated with a texas longhorn championship poster. I laughed because UT was the last time he was relevant on a football field.

they should put up a dart board with his stupid face on it ,and in the game Vilma or Jenkins needs to knock his ass out cold..

The highest paid loser on their team
Roy Williams, needs to keep his mouth shut. It was a weak effort to talk smack, and he couldn’t pull it off., b/c he can barely speak english to begin with. At least Crackhead Irvin could talk smack, and motivate his team…..

this takes me back to 2007 when the Patriots came to Pittsburgh and Anthony Smith said that we were going to beat them (paraphrase) and the Patroits proceeded to beat him en route to beating us by a good margin

Reading all this is laughable
is it only smart people who can see he was sarcastic in his tone and for the media trying to crown you all before you even played the rest of the season. I am proud that you finally have a team to cheer for but please lay off the confidence as if you been here many times before. Most Cowboy fans like myself are rooting for you all to do good if we don’t make it. So just like all fans when their team finally does something they become cocky and arrogant. Thanks for ruining what respect I did have for your team and fan base. Good Luck you deserve it for once!!

Ok...
so Cowboy fans aren’t cocky and arrogant? You’re being cocky and arrogant right now by insulting every WhoDat on this blog by saying we aren’t smart enough to see that he was being sarcastic. Almost every Cowboy fan I know is cocky and arrogant and ya’ll havent won any type of hardware, let alone a playoff game in over a decade. So you can take your backhanded compliments about being proud that we have a team to cheer for and head back over to your blog because we’re not gonna stop being confident just because it displeases the holier than thou Cowboy fans. Practice what you preach… We don’t need or want your respect….. cause I’m pretty sure that we never truly had it in the first place and we’ve done very well this season, and in the past 5 meeting against you guys, without it.
Just remember that there’s more pressure you than us in this game. You have to win this game… it’ll just be icing on the cake for us if we win. With that said we’ll be 14-0….. Hater.

read the responses on here and
tell me again how you all understood the sarcasism he was speaking. I cleary see different opinions on what he was saying than what you just posted. Nice try!! Again good “ONE” season. I can tell you feel this is your SB and it should be after how many years of nothing? When your team accomplishes something , then at that point I might have a reason to hate :)
