If the New Orleans Saints are going to have a perfect regular season, there’s a growing chance they’ll have to wait several hours longer.

Multiple sources around the NFC South and the NFL say there is a strong chance the Saints’ final regular-season game, which is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start in Carolina, could be "flexed’’ to a Sunday night game, which will be the final game of the season for the entire NFL because there is no Monday night game that week.

Currently, the Giants and Redskins are scheduled for the Sunday night time slot. But the sources say the league is looking strongly at putting the Saints in prime time, if they remain undefeated. The league rules about flexing allow a six-day window for changing the final game. Some exploration into the logistics into a change already has been done. In other weeks, decisions about flexing a game must be made at least 12 days out.

The exception for Week 17 means the league could wait to see if the Saints make it to 15-0 before making a decision.

Awesome! But, what if Payton decides to rest some starters that night? This would certainly bring some added pressure we may not desire. Oh screw it! How many times have we had this chance and how many more times will we get it? None and probably none.

Awesome? AWESOME?!

Stupid %#$@*!! NFL!

I’ll have a 2-hour drive to get home AFTER getting out of the stadium traffic! I could have watched an afternoon game, had a leisurely celebratory dinner, and still gotten home in time to get to (ahem) bed…AND NOW THE NFL MAY FLEX THE GAME?!

%#^$&*@#+!!!!!

Yeah, but...

if they win and finish 16-0 you’ll be so pumped up and excited that you won’t be able to sleep that night anyway. You can stay on scene and party with all the other Who Dats. Can you take the next day off and stay in a hotel? Think of the history that could be made that night and the instant reversal of our dismal past 40+ year history. You could be on scene for that! I’d love to have that problem.

Oh you love the Bank of America Stadium experience, or whatever it’s called. The Catbox. Whatever.

Several weeks in a row of the Saints being selected for one of the Replay games on NFL Network too. Oh that’s right…. Charter Cable. GAAAA!!! I’m thinking it’s time for another live chat experience with them.

Thank you for choosing Charter Chat Live! A Customer Care representative from Cable TV Order Inquiries will be with you shortly.
You have been connected to DAC Ebony .
DAC Ebony : Hello this is Ebony with Charter Communications, How may I help you today?
Stujo4: Hi, DAC. I’m inquiring for a friend of mine, MtnExile, who lives in a holler near Charlotte I think. Maybe near Aunt Bea and Andy, not sure.
Stujo4: He complains constantly about how he is a Charter Cable subscriber but can’t get the NFL Network. Why is that?
Agent is typing a message…
DAC Ebony : Im sorry i cannot answer that, i can only offer what we have and at this time we are not offering NFL i do apologize
Stujo4: Outrageous. We even have NFL Network in Kansas. Are the Carolinas more backward than the prairies of Kansas? I think Oklahoma has the NFL Network for Pete’s sake. What can my friend do to get NFLN?
Stujo4: DAC, have you ever heard of AT&T U-Verse? It’s awesome.
Agent is typing a message…
DAC Ebony : nothing at this time, charter is not offering it
Stujo4: Maybe your subscriber base would increase if you offered popular programming such as Bravo! and NFL Network.
DAC Ebony : that maybe true, however you have reached the sales department Im here to place orders,is there anything else i can do for you today
Agent is typing a message…
Stujo4: That’s an idea. Carry popular channels that the rest of THE ENTIRE COUNTRY gets with their cable. Even COX offers NFLN and they are the dregs, man.
Stujo4: You a Panthers fan, DAC? Cause me and M-E love the Saints and they’re coming to town, you know.
Stujo4: DAC, why don’t you try selling your manager on the fact that Charter sucks without NFLN. Tell her everyone you type to mentions that they are disappointed and considering The Dish Network because they can’t see the Saints on NFL Replay.
Agent is typing a message…
DAC Ebony : I will pass the word around
DAC Ebony : Thank You for choosing Charter Have yourself a wonderful day/night!
Stujo4: Thanks, DAC! What it is. Later, bruh.

THE CATBOX

That sounds like the name of a sleazy hotel off the interstate on-ramp near the stadium that M-E could sleep in if he calls in sick to work on the January 4th…and here’s what you do (so you’re not lying).

You call work from your cell phone on Monday morning, and you tell your boss/secretary/office manager this: “I feel awful. I won’t be able to come in to work today.” It’s all true.

You will feel terribly tired from being out in the elements for 4+ hours and you will have a sore throat from yelling for 4+ hours.

I used this idea when I was calling in sick on the Friday morning of Halloween weekend about 10 years ago. The preschool in which I taught had no children attending on Fridays – we worked in our rooms and did home visits and had staff meetings and trainings on these days. But I had flown down to New Orleans Thursday night and was staying in the French Quarter with friends to party on Bourbon Street for Halloween weekend.

And again, it was all true – I called the office at 7:30 on Friday morning and said, “I feel awful and won’t be able to come in today.” I was hungover and tired as h&*^, and I sounded terrible on the phone as I had drymouth and my throat was raw, too. Worked like a charm! I didn’t tell them I was calling from under a bed in a hotel in the French Quarter – they just assumed I was at home.

Don’t you love it when a plan comes together, M-E?

Not at all

A minute left…down by 6…no time-outs…and a 4th and 2 on our own 13…

Yeah, that’s doable. Come on, man! This year, nothing is over until we say it is.

If we get to 15-0,...

…I’m GOIN’ TO THE GAME!

How can I not be there for that experience?

Mtn, we’ll have to go grab a late, LATE dinner with all the CSC NC folks….and the heck with work the next day!

Prime Time

As though a 16-0 season isn’t enough pressure in and of itself. But I hope it happens. I love seeing the ‘09 Saints team getting the national exposure they so richly deserve. And, yet another example of my argument to the many Who Dats that have been complaining that the Saints aren’t getting any “respect” in the national media.

One question: Does this indicate that the NFL moguls don’t think the Colts will get to this point or because they think the Saints are a more compelling story?
