Just logging in

1) I really f$&@ing hate Marion Barber right now

2) Drew better not play like this come playoff time

3) Glad to see Porter back. He’s tonight’s D star by far. He broke up a few crucial passes.

by Jee on Dec 19, 2009 9:24 PM CST via mobile reply actions

nothing going right

Cowboys playing well, we’re not – not a good combo

by SaintBevo on Dec 19, 2009 9:28 PM CST reply actions

I can't even begin to say how disgusted I am

I can’t blame this poor performance on the defense. The offense has not been able to do anything against the Cowboys. This one is on Brees.

And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.

by Ace Venom on Dec 19, 2009 9:28 PM CST reply actions

At the very least . . .

. . . this turd of a game should help to motivate the Saints going into the playoffs.

by Devin Grabarek on Dec 19, 2009 9:29 PM CST reply actions

It's time

The Saints as a team start focusing on playoffs. Yeah, it sucks having idiot Dallas fans talking sh%t, but what’s more important? 16-0 or a LOMBARDI TROPHY?

by Jee on Dec 19, 2009 9:29 PM CST via mobile reply actions

Lombardi Trophy

Losing a game in the regular season isn’t a big deal. The Saints will be able to learn from this experience.

And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.

Great freaking day for my fantasy team.

Too bad I won’t live to enjoy it since I’m gonna go jump off the Causeway Bridge.

Brees gonna throw down the Saints... Wide open Devery Henderson! Nobody's within twenty yards of him! He could do the backstroke into the end zone from there! And he'll take it in for a seventy-five yard touchdown strike!

There's a lot to be said for MOTIVATION...

I’m not giving up hope, we all have to agree that the Cowgirls are desperate.

They need this win. We’d really like to have a win.

Not to mention getting demotivated by the HUGE frustration of the first half referring. When you have to play against the refs, you lose you’re motivation because you cannot beat them.

Geaux Saints!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now dat Dallas for sure is one cool city in da South,

They got more Super Bowl rings den I got gold teeth in my mouth,

I loved old Coach Landry so much class he sure had,

Now dat Wade Phillips some big shoes to fill he does have,

We loved our Bum Phillips for sure he was a blast,

But as a Saints head coach not very long did he last,

But come Saturday night all friendships and bets will be off,

Because a spell I will cast to insure the Dallas Cowboys a loss,

So old Papa Legbow and Priestess Laveau,

I call on my ancestors from above and below,

Atop of old Monkey Hill I sit here reflective,

I need all your help so my spell is effective,

Now in my Voodoo pot I brew up dis new spell,

And cast it on the Cowboys so they won’t play so well,

Tony the Romeo on your arm a spell I do lay,

When you throw dat ball it will come Sharper’s way,

Then next when you try to pass it to Crayton,

On dat one Jonathon Vilma will be waiting,

Den of course you will try to make with the run,

That’s when Da Saints will stop all of your fun,

As a final hex a broom I lay across your goal,

Your effort to score will be blocked by the Saints foal,

So with eyes of newts and a dead cow’s horn,

This spell is now cast and all hope for the Cowboys is gone,

My spell now completed and I’m done with this deed,

Da Saints will beat Da Cowboys and on dis u can believe!

This was a huge statement game for the Cowboys and they earned it. I’m not going to bitch and moan about the officiating. The officials didn’t make Brees commit three turnovers. The officials did not make Henderson drop a sure TD. Nine times out of ten, the Saints would have won this game. This was that one time. Well played, Cowboys.

1) The offense performed horribly in the first half. This is a good reason why you can’t start slow.

3) We really needed Ellis and Greer.

Good point

The Saints played their worst game of the season and still lost by seven points. A loss is a loss, but let’s not forget something. Tony Romo is a good QB. Drew Brees is better on most days, but he was absolutely horrid tonight. Not all of it was his fault, but the three turnovers were. As much as this game shouldn’t matter, the Colts look unstoppable. The only way Brees could win the MVP was to also have the Saints go 16-0. Whatever. I don’t care about that anymore.

The fact of the matter is, the Saints are in the playoffs. Nobody cares about that lost game in December if you win the big game. I’d take 18-1 and winning the Super Bowl. I’m sure you can get every New England Patriots fan to agree with me here. This team was really not playing well coming into this game, so it’s better than they took this loss. They can refocus, stop worrying about 16-0 and focus on coming back strong for the playoffs.

Here’s hoping this makes a lot of bandwagoners jump off the bandwagon.

it's ok

we still control our destiny and we’re 13-1. Could be a lot worse. Imagine if we had lost the Miami and Washington games and were 11-3. Worse yet the Rams game and 10-4. We’ll be fine. by FriarBob on Dec 19, 2009 10:49 PM CST up reply actions

The defense gave up points on the opening possession

They did that far too much this season and it finally came back to bite them. Simply stopping them on the opening drive would have put us in OT. The offense also started too slowly. You can’t do that every week and expect to win every game. Let’s face it. We were fortunate to win some of these games and those wins are wins. It’s just like this loss is a loss. The Saints need to learn a lot of things from this loss.

13-1 and a bye-week isn’t bad at all. The perfect season would have been nice, but this team was just sinking fast. Better to drop this one here and get their heads straight rather than go 16-1.

I mean, really…we should have lost in Washington. That should have done us in there. Don’t be depressed because Brees couldn’t pull another win out of his ass. This team badly needed a wake-up call and they got it. Now they have two weeks to prepare for a Super Bowl run.

"Drew Breeeeeeeees!" "Oh, yeah."

by Malsby on Dec 19, 2009 10:49 PM CST up reply actions

OK I just got back from the bar(s) where I had to watch this travesty. Let’s be honest. The Saints played like crap and did not deserve to win. I said it before the game and I said the only way the Cowboys win is if the Saints beat themselves. And let’s face it. The Saints DID beat themselves. They missed plays, they blew coverages, they committed penalties at the wrong time, etc.

But I just about puked when I heard the announcers yammer about how it was a well officiated game. My BUTT! What about that missed PI on Henderson when the guy literally shoved him to the ground before the ball got there? What about all the missed holding calls and the tripping and other crap their OL got away with? Our fouls they officiated pretty well. I didn’t see a single phantom call against us. Good for them. But I sure saw a ton of fouls on the Cowboys that did NOT get called.

In a game of 11-17, you have to play perfect to win. We didn’t.

by FriarBob on Dec 19, 2009 10:46 PM CST reply actions

Oh and I hope we play the cowturds again in the playoffs. If we play all of that game as well as we played in most of the 4th quarter, we will win by 30 or more. And if so, I guarantee you that revenge will be EXTRA sweet.

by FriarBob on Dec 19, 2009 10:47 PM CST up reply actions

Agreed.

The first half officiating was horrible.

Not bad… HORRIBLE.

Like you said… literally SICKENING.

by Dan Kelly on Dec 19, 2009 10:54 PM CST up reply actions

Officiating? Please....

…let’s not start with that. They beat us running. They beat us passing. They beat us on defense. On special teams, it was a wash. The officials had NOTHING to do with it. Did the officials make Brees throw that terrible interception or make Henderson drop that touchdown pass?

The only excuse we could possibly make is how many starters we’re missing on both sides of the ball. But guess what, I’m sure the Cowboys are missing a lot of starters too. (Don’t know their personnel well enough to say for sure.)

Blaming the officials is for losers. We’re winners, so let’s lose with class. Give them credit for beating us and get ready for next week.

by NOLA1708 on Dec 19, 2009 11:30 PM CST up reply actions

Ya I completely agree with everything you've just said BUT they didn't have any big injuries..

except for Mark Colombo, their starting RT.. But then again we’re missing Jammal Brown (starting LT and is going to be re-signed after that horrible game by Jermon Bushrod), Jeremy Shockey, Sedrick Ellis, Jabari Greer.. I mean those are all big names, especially the way this game turned out, those 4 guys could’ve impacted the result of this game..

With that being said, let’s finish this season on a 2 game winning streak, get home field advantage and win the Super Bowl, that’s what really matters

by AKAY47 on Dec 19, 2009 11:51 PM CST up reply actions

Oh I didn’t say I blamed the officials. It wasn’t their fault. And even if it was, it still wouldn’t matter. I just said they sucked. And they did.

I Predicted This...

Not because I think the Cowboys are the better team. The Saints have played great all year long and my Boys have been inconsistent.

But part of that inconsistency has been the misfortune of playing two games against teams whose seasons would have gone down the drain had they lost. Tonight, it was the Saints turn to play a desperate team.

Good luck. I do hope we play again with a Super Bowl appearance riding on it.

…is that they’re so bad in the 1st quarter now. Hard to win when you’re constantly spotting teams 7, 10, 14 points to start every game. They weren’t doing that in September.

"Drew Breeeeeeeees!" "Oh, yeah."

by Malsby on Dec 19, 2009 10:50 PM CST reply actions

Until tonight, there was a huge difference

The Saints were winning those games despite starting slow. Now it came back to bite them and the Saints are now 13-1. You can learn a lot more from a loss than a win. The New York Giants never would have beaten the Patriots in SB 42 without losing to them at the end of the regular season. They learned their lessons and got their game together.

That’s exactly what the Saints need to do. Learn from mistakes and get it together. There are still two games left in the regular season and 15-1 is still a real possibility. The Saints will come out strong next week. You can guarantee that. They’ll have a long week to to prepare and you can get that Drew Brees is going to be working extra hard. He may not win the MVP after this poor performance, but he now has his eyes on the ultimate prize. There is no more pressure to remain perfect, so those questions can stop. Now just focus on football.

And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.

We'll take on the whole city right now. I'm good to go.

Brees gonna throw down the Saints... Wide open Devery Henderson! Nobody's within twenty yards of him! He could do the backstroke into the end zone from there! And he'll take it in for a seventy-five yard touchdown strike!

I forgot how it feels to lose

A real shame about the loss but we still got a lot to look forward to next month, we
started slow and that killed us but Dallas came to play and did a good job. Buccs
next up and hopefully go 14-1 Well played Cowboys you deserved it tonight. Regroup and focus all will be fine…..

Lets GEAUX SAINTS.......... ALL THE WAY!!!!

I agree

I keep saying you learn more from a loss than a win. The Saints played sloppy ball against Washington and Atlanta, so this is a reality check. You have to like that this team didn’t give up in the end, so that’s a good sign. The pressure of going undefeated is out the window now, which is a blessing in disguise.

And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.

No more BS talk about should we rest players. It’s a done deal.

Absolutely

We should be able to punish Tampa Bay and get back on track. If we start blowing them out, I’m all for taking Brees out early.

Cha-ching!

There used to be a site that actually applied the BCS formula to the NFL, is it still out there?

Brees gonna throw down the Saints... Wide open Devery Henderson! Nobody's within twenty yards of him! He could do the backstroke into the end zone from there! And he'll take it in for a seventy-five yard touchdown strike!

Ya.. BCS and SI and ESPN power rankings don't mean SH*T

Your record doesn’t mean SH*T.. I’m actually happy we lost and that our D played bad because Greg Williams might stay in New Orleans this way.. We’ll draft a stud OLB that will be a better player than DeMarcus Ware (wishful thinking cuz the guy is a stud) – Navorro Bowman anyone?

And this is a game where a Jeremy Shockey is needed, he knows the Cowboys team very well and all our receivers were well covered but with 2 solid TE’s, we could’ve exposed this D.. Same as for Sedrick Ellis and Jabari Greer.. Would Miles Austin have made that catch on 3rd down if it was Greer covering him instead of Mike Mckenzie?? Give him the outside, not the inside Mike, you should know that, you’re a veteran.. Jammal Brown at LT instead of Jermon Bushrod? I mean we could’ve won this game, but that’s alot of IF’s..

WHO DAT! 13-1

Give them credit

Cowboys came into the Dome and whipped up on us. We were 60 yards away at the end, but frankly, we were fortunate to be even that close. They outplayed us on both sides of the ball, so let’s just give them credit for being the better team tonight and then win these last two games. Hopefully, we’ll get a chance to play them again in the playoffs.

F Dallass

I think our team lost it more than they won. The injuries were too much. I think we especially missed Shockey. It was awesome to see Porter out there! Jenkins has the worst footwork ever and looks lost. In a weird way I’m happy that we lost. But damnit we need to start beating some half-assed teams like Tampa and Carolina by half time. We have to play a full game on both sides of the ball. Today we pretty much didn’t play offense in the first half and the defense took the 1st quarter off completely.

by xen-cuts on Dec 19, 2009 11:42 PM CST reply actions

They BETTER get hammered. If they don’t, I’m going to be REALLY teed off.

by FriarBob on Dec 20, 2009 12:35 AM CST up reply actions

Man.. The Saints are going to be fired up, they know they can beat any team in the NFL

But they haven’t been playing really well the past couple games. Look at us VS the Patriots, that was a flawless game..

How big was the Henderson drop in the endzone btw? God.. I’m still crying over this loss, my dad is laughing in my face, he’s a die hard cowboys fan.. :(

Ok ok ok, my last negative input on the tonight's game..

Is it just me or is Malcolm Jenkins disappointing everyone right now? I mean I was actually so happy with that pick, I thought him and Tracy Porter would be one of the best if not the best 1-2 tandem in the league for years to come and that we had a bright future for this defense but I mean he’s just exposed almost every sunday since Jabari Greer’s been out. At the beginning of the year he made a couple of good plays on special teams and then he had the interception against Tampa, but since then he hasn’t be doing much.. Ok I know he’s still a rookie and has alot to learn, hopefully these are just the learning steps and that one day he’ll be Champ Bailey or Nnamdi Asomugha like.. Top 3 corners in the league, IMO..

1) Asomugha
2) Bailey
3) Revis

by AKAY47 on Dec 20, 2009 1:12 AM CST reply actions

well Jenkins is more a zone CB than a man CB

i watched him grow for 4 years @ OSU and he was great when they played zone and looked ok when he was in man.
and his senior year, when OSU played man, they would move him to safety.
remember, there were pre-draft rumors that he would eventually move to Safety.

i hope the saints win the SB.

I've watched him to

from the hawkeye sidelines unfortunately. The kid is a baller. It takes a couple steps in this league. You’re playing man coverage on guys like Miles Austin and Santana Moss. One is a potential superstar and another is a guy who has worked for years getting to the spot he is at. Although I’m not hailing him as Rookie of the Year, I’m not exactly disappointed by his play either.

He’s gonna get beat. He looks like he can make plays, and will work to get better. I’m glad he’s there instead of Toast.

iowa

so which qb do you want iowa to start against Gtech? i want vanderberg. kid scared the living hell out of me on his first start. looks like better version than drew tate.

ricki stanzi

should be back and healthy. He’s not as pure of a passer as Vandenburg, but he wins the games.

i rather go w. Vanderberg

Look everyone

Dallas played their best game, we played our worst and only lost by 7. It sucks, but let’s be honest with ourselves. Our players, including Brees, were sounding more and more cocky every week. We needed to lose to get out of the media cloud.

This game I think was doomed from the start. With Shockey out and the way they were calling the game (i.e. letting them be “physical” which apparently means not calling pass interference), we needed the physicality of Shockey and we needed to not be down by so much.

But with porter back in, we held a lot better, only giving up one more TD. The O-line didn’t do badly most of the game; Dallas has a great D-line and we were covered (mugged) in obvious passing situations too many times.

The most important thing? Down by 21, we didn’t quit. You didn’t see Brees sitting on the sideline like Brady. We kept gunning it, calling TOs to save time w/ 11+ left on the clock.

We’ll be fine now. Let the Cowboys enjoy the hype before losing their last two games and Philips being fired; I’ll enjoy the Superbowl, thank you very much.

I'm proud of my damn strong football team. Have a great day!
