BIG LOSS TO DALLAS - WHAT SAY YOU?

This is honestly NOT about I told you so, but over the past several weeks with all of the talk about how horrible the defense has played, I have been trying to point out another subtle (for some) fact: this offense hasn't been showing up lately either. I hope somebody is seeing this. The last time I mentioned this, Phillinwood's response was that the Offense is fine, but I strongly disagree with this. I see the weakness in the LT position, but I also see a HUGE inconsistency in the Offense. Sometimes they show up strong (as in the game against the Patriots then at other times they look lethargic (as vs the Falcons and Redskins). When you see the Colts play, you see consistency: Manning comes out putting 14 points on the board in the first 3 seconds (not a typo, a hyperbole). You don't see that with the Saints team. One other disturbing thing is the watered down responses from Sean Payton during press remarks of: "I'm glad we got the win." This is a big change from "...we have a lot to work on..." that I used to hear at the beginning of the season. I'm not discounting the injuries we have, but that's mostly defense. We have enough Offensive weapons on that team to completely destroy folks, but we haven't been doing it. I'm not going to go on about much of the obvious stuff like we played mediocre teams at the beginning of the season and December is a tougher month to play in regardless of who you are playing. The bottom line is that there is a HUGE inconsistency in our offense and starting with the Dolphins, we have exposed our weaknesses and is in grave danger.

What Say I?

“Minor speed bump.”

I HATE the f%^&*ng cowboys

As a SAINTS fan I would rather have gone 1-15 and beat the fu*(&ng cowboys than 16-0. In North La where I’m from I see so many that support the cowboyus rather than the SAINTS and it makes me SICK! I HATE those mothaf*&^kas!!!! I know tha opposite of love is not hate. I know when I HATE them it is not pure LOVE for the SAINTS. But thta is overwith, the better team won tonight and it is time to move on and win the Superbowl! NOW!

Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die!

Screw that

If we go 18-1 and win the Super Bowl, Dallas fans can talk about being the team that beat the Super Bowl champs. How exciting. They get to talk even though they didn’t make the big game. Whoop te do.

And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.

Fan from the beginning...

but this is a discussion about reality, not a cheerleading thread. My handle refers to Pilney Park, which WAS where LaFreniere is now, a stone’s throw from the Saints original facility. I grew up there – and then – and have literally been a fan since my earliest memory – so don’t start calling me a hater. – But JAHson is right. We ran 45 passing plays and only 13 rushing plays. Time of possession was 36 – 23 in their favor. I don’t have all the answers, but tomorrow, when SP inevitably says we need to improve on some things before next week, it shouldn’t be hard to find those things. If I was a hater, this stuff wouldn’t matter this much to me.

You may have been around

some of you guys need to chill out

not every fan is gonna be happy-go-lucky, a 15-1 team can lose in the playoffs…we do have somethings to work on. Dude is just being objective. Personally, I think once we get Greer and Porter back, we’ll be better on D. As far as the offense goes…he’s right, some games we come out gunning and other games we delay that till after halftime.

Don't worry I got your back cuz...

WHAT SAY YOU?

I expected many of you to disagree. Anyone that is honest can see our offense has not performed consistently NOR to its potential over the past several games. I’m not a bandwagonist but a realist. I am a big Saints fan but we have some serious Offense problems no one seem to be acknowledging including Sean Payton (until tonight). Its one thing to be proud of the teams past accomplishments (11-0,12-0,13-eaux) but its quite another to be drunk with elation and ignore reality. Virtual Reality seems to be the order of the day in our country – we ignore truth and hope that it just goes away. I would to GOD that we can return to being men (and women) and confront reality head-on when recognize it! Saints Fan – win, lose or draw. I still believe the next 3 superbowls are mine, but we have some problems.

Good Lord

Honestly, some people act like Peyton Manning has never had a bad game. Is it so easy to forget that he was known as a huge choke artist before he finally got a Super Bowl ring? And let us not forget that Tom Brady probably committed one of the biggest choke jobs in Super Bowl history. Are we so quick to forget that?

Where were you during the Mike Ditka years when we traded our entire draft away for Ricky Williams? Where were you during the Jim Mora years when we could only hope the guy wouldn’t be so conservative? And God forbid the years before Jim Mora come to mind. The Jim Haslett years, the whole “live and die by Aaron Brooks.” We finally have a Hall of Fame caliber QB in New Orleans and a team that can finally contend. We’ll be talking about these teams for years even if they don’t win a Super Bowl.

And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.

I Remember!

I remember all of the things you’ve cited here Ace Venom, that is why I’m so upset. With all due respect (and I sincerely mean that), I’m not trying to hear “…even if we don’t win the Super Bowl” because that’s what its all about. We’ve lived too long with years of disappointing seasons. We’ve come to close to the prize to start to let it slip away. We need to get it together and make no mistake about it: regardless of what the pundits say, Carolina in particular, is not going to be a walk in the park IF we don’t get our stuff together. We are indeed the better team, but division games are the toughest and Carolina has a solid team. Records don’t always tell the whole story.

By comparison

I’m very used to getting my heart ripped out by the teams I love. I’m also a die hard Chicago Cubs fan, so I have double the heartbreak every year.

13-1 ain't bad

The defense has been weak all year giving up tons of points, last night the offensive line got blown away but 13-1 ain’t bad
Look no Saints team ever won 13 regular season games before and we would have been happy with a wild card spot
Sure I would have rather have seen them loose to Tampa than Dallas, but you know I have a feeling this is the way it had to go
Anytime the media and gambling are involved anything can happen

Worried

The cumulative QB rating of our opponents over the past several weeks – even the season- has to be well over 120. We have to get better pressure or the 2ndary is going to continue to get burned. Imagine the possibility of Manning against this D = embarassing pummeling.
That said, we did only allow 24.
Overall, disappointing, but the big picture is still in sight and hopefully this wakes em up in the locker room and we can end up like the 1 loss 86 Bears

LINE

We’re hurting on the off. line. Face it Turds needed this game and the turds took it. We shall over come, I hope. We just need a weak team to beat up on ala Bucks but then ???? A time to heal. Go Saint’s

Your wrong

We hald the Cowboys to 24 points so our defense is playing like they have been
The offensive line (specificlly Bushrod) didnt show up yesterday and played terrible
All that said except for a few missed oppertunities( henderson drop in the end zone) we still had a chance at the end to win
I think we’ll be ok but we need a left tackle by half time i was hoping Strief would go in for Bushrod

by mississippisaintsfan on Dec 20, 2009 8:33 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

It's just one game

Our Saints looked tired and flat from the git go. No bounce in their step. Cowboys looked fresh. We will be fine. Just call it a wake up call. Cowboys played their best game of the year. Even when we did get to Romo he moved and made plays. We didn’t. Enough said. Worse case our Saints are in the playoffs with a first week buy. Win two more, home field. Now thats pretty cool I think. GEAUX SAINTS

by saints-fan-in-miss on Dec 20, 2009 9:35 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

Who brought game...

I hated losing but on any given day it is who brought the best game. Our boys were just not “right” last night… I can’t quote stats, I can’t tell you why Player A should have done this and Player B should have done that.

But in the first five minutes I just kept thinking. They just aren’t “Right” tonight. And I had to watch it surrounded by Dallas Fans in a Bar with a Dallas fan bartender. At least he bought me a drink at the end.

But they just weren’t “right” And Dallas brought Game. Unlike a lot of people here I don’t hate the cowboys at all and if we had to lose… I would much rather it be now to them than in the past to Atlanta… THEM I HATE!

This game meant everything to Dallas they NEEDED this win and we didn’t bring EVERYTHING to beat their need. So… as I said somewhere else

Boom
Bada Bing
Ching Ling a Ling
The Loss don’t mean A thing.
We still gonna get our RING

dallas came out way more aggressive, like they owned the field. It was tough to watch. The HOME team is supposed to be amped up like that. Not the visitor.

What's this yur problem???

Our offense has been nothnig short of spectacluar all year. If you think that there are not going to be some 3 and outs during the playoffs youve not been watching football for very long.

by jray2000 on Dec 20, 2009 1:38 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Injuries

It seems that Payton is calling aggressively and resting a ton of players. He just calls them injured. Check out Tracy Porter, for example. That guy was ON last night. And he wasn’t slated to play. I wonder if everyone else is just kind of coming back conservatively? We can afford to be a little conservative. Hopefully we could afford this loss.

Our offense had trouble with consistency last night and has done so for a lot of the year. We played well against some overhyped teams that lost to us and then proceeded to drop out of the playoffs pictures. Who have we beaten that is a great team? That’s the problem. No marquee wins. I thought the Pats might be one but they have been terrible. Anyway, we’ve been doing what it takes to win. I just hope we can quickly get back on track against our last two division rivals. Those games are always tough.
