Gay shut down?

From Rotoworld:
Saints coach Sean Payton revealed Wednesday that CB Randall Gay's Week 12 hamstring injury is "significant."
The Saints may consider placing Gay on injured reserve with Mike McKenzie playing so well. Gay has been New Orleans' nickel back for most of the year.

It is times like this when you are very thankful for some quality depth in the secondary.  Hopefully it is not the case.  But the recent signings of McKenzie and McAlister are looking even more brilliant.

definetly like the

cornerback signings now. i won’t think about another one untill later and depending on who’s going to be back and who’s not. If Greer and Porter are both sure things to be back, then no because i’m ok with greer/porter starting, jenkins in the nickel, and mm and mccalister behind them. sounds pretty deep to me.

Superbowl bound!!!...I know! do you?! Go Saints!!

I think they may be misinterpretting

Their source, Jeff Duncan Twitter, says this:

Payton said CB Randall Gay (hamstring) was the only significant injury from Mon. night’s game. His status will be officially reported later.

My interpretation is that his injury was the only “significant” injury from that game and not that Gay’s injury is “significantly” serious. It’s too early to know if he’ll go to IR. My hunch is that he may miss a couple more games as he has been battling this hammy problem ever since he got here last season.

They can always work Usama Young in as a nickel or dime back, if need be.

One way or another

…this makes you appreciate the job that Loomis and Payton are doing with the roster. Loomis is definitely earning his Super Bowl ring.

Glad that it would appear this means Bell is okay!!

I think, with all the Saints talent, narrowing the active roster to 45 is a major challenge. But that is a very good thing- it means that many times some players with a minor ding can take a week off to get truly healthy instead of playing compromised. I think this bodes very well for the playoffs. I hope Gay is just dinged a little- inactive is much better than IR.

DB's

He has the David treatment……I think he is still a quality Defender……In the Nickle.

I agree

but his tackling has to get MUCH better. I’ve seen him miss to often by not properly wrapping up. But on the same hand, he’s usually always near the play meaning he covers well in the slot.

Mike McKenzie

Funny thing…I NEVER was a big MM fan while he was here…there was always something about him that rubbed me just a little wrong, but after coming off last years surgery, not getting picked back up and the shape and rehab he must have dedicated himself to do to still have gas in the 4th qtr Monday….I’m liking him more than I ever have.

Gay shut down?

Are they closing the French Quarter? The GGM only swings one way but that is taking homophobia to new heights and I do not approve!
