We just dropped Carney
The Saints released John Carney and Marcus McCauley. We resigned Kyle Eckel and a Safety. Herana-Daze Jones..
Don't know much about him. I think I remember him from his Indiana days but I can't be certain. This is his info:
Jones was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as a college free agent on April 28, 2005. After spending the 2005 season on the Bengals' practice squad, he made the 53-man roster in 2006. Jones led the Bengals in special teams tackles in both 2006 and 2007. He was placed on injured reserve on October 17, 2008 and released from injured reserve with an injury settlement on November 4, 2008.
Also spent some time in Denver and New England (Training Camp) but missed the final cuts.
Wonder why we're going after a Safety all of the sudden.

Because Usama Young is injured and Sharper/Harper have a lot of downs on their resume this year
so I think they are just being careful. Also, if we win Sun he would get some playing time vs. Carolina so as to rest Sharper/Harper. They deserve it!! Don’t expect him to be on playoff roster.

oh yeah
and I don’t really have a full vote of confidence in Garrett Hartley yet. I know Carney was inconsistent as well. I’m just not sure where I fall on that move. At least Carney has the veteran experience. Sometimes that makes a big difference in the post season.
Hartley is fine
He’s been money so far. Only missed one field goal. And I’m convinced that missed extra point was something having to do with the hold.

Carney may have experience....
but he was inconsistent. even the kicks that he made were just barely squeaking through

I can't recall this much roster fiddling just before the playoffs
But then again, the Saints haven’t had all that much playoff experience…and I don’t usually pay too much attention to other clubs and their late-season roster fiddling. But I get the impression this is somewhat excessive. Anybody? Buehler? Stujo?

It's been making me a little nervous.
I just have to have faith that the big boys know what they’re doing.

None of these moves are anything major, just tweaking for depth. Probably setting themselves up to rest a lot of starters in Week 17, should they lock up HFA this weekend. Of course, they’ll never come out and say that. Otherwise, they’d feel the wrath of Valerie Bertinelli and the cliche police, for not taking it One Game at a Time.

I would really like if we had a true fullback, I guess there are few options out there
but I would be willing to take a chance on Lorenzo Neal for a few games. I would also be willing to take a gamble on Deuce Mc Allister at FB, knowing that 1) he would only probably be the lead blocker on a run play 1-4 plays per game 2) just the idea of him would be exhilirating 3) just the threat of him possibly running the ball would work for me
4) outlet passes to him after chipping a DE would be very safe 5) he was always a good pass catcher – he could catch 2 passes a game from the FB position (or split backs) which could make a huge difference

U think Deuce......
would come back? I say YES. First mention I have seen of him, but since while we are playing musical FBs…..WHY NOT???

Did anybody else see this?
we brought the old man back as a “Kicking Consultant” to mentor Garrett Hartley.
I think thats a great move. It definitely solves my “veteran experience” issues. good deal!
