(I edited the title because I think people were not posting the questions I had because they had no idea what I was writing about) Which is Navaho for WTF???? I didn't get to see the game, but I watch the first quarter on the INET. I work graveyard, so I cought the first quarter then went to bed thinking that my Saints have finally come out of their funk only to wake up to see that they lost to TB by a FG in OT. I have been reading a lot of the other posts and from what I can gleen is that the offense pretty much stunk up the Dome by playing too conservatively with a lot of short yardage passes. Since when did Breesus throw short yardage passes. This made me really think about what might have been going on. Was Payton trying to play a conservative, prevent offense to keep his starters in the game, but healthy?? I didn't see any stats but how did Mr. Wendy's do?? I know that the defense kept the score low, but allowing a team to run over you is no excuse. I read taht Jenkins also got burned a lot. How many times did he get burned? PT went out with bruised ribs. Well I am sure the only reason he came out was because this was kinda a not needed to win game. But I thought that Bell and Bush would have taken up the slack in the run game. How did they do? These are questions that we all need to ask ourselves before we go bashing on the Saints. I know that we are all having flashbacks to the Mora years, but I don't think we need to worry about that. This is not Mora's team, this is Payton's team. A team that went to the NFC conference game for the first time in '06. A team that has won 13 in a row for the first time. A team that by all accounts, should have had a better record last year and would have if one or two things had gone our way. How many games did we lose last year by less than 3 points?? People talk about how the defense is basically the same with the addition of Sharper. I have to say, I am onthe D# band wagon, but he got burned what 2 or 3 times when in single coverage last week or the week before. These were the times that we ran the 2 CB blitz and it got picked up and Sharper was left alone in man coverage. I think he is too old for that crap. he doesn't have the speed to keep up with some of the younger wide outs. He is a great safety, but his legs are a little slow. He plays a kinda zone defense in which he knows where the ball is going to go and gets to it. Sometimes he can get the jump on the QB and pull down the pick, sometimes he doesn't. He is a great leader and I think a great addition to the team. Shockey is a beast and so is PT, but I think that Mr. Wendy's can pull his own weight, so the fact that Shockey wasn't there should be a non sequitor. This kicking game needs to be fixed, but what is there to fix? The fact that Carney and Hartlet missed kicks, is it the kicker or the holder or the snapper? I don't know but having two kickers with the same problem leads me to believe that it might not be all their fault. I am not a coach and I know I don't have the coach's ear, I am just a humble fan expressing what he thinks and asking questions that I think we all need to ask. I am a life long Saints fan, no matter what, so I am not going to be bad mouthing my Saints for having a bad game. It happens, even to the best of teams. But the great teams learn from their mistakes and carry on. On a side note, just remember that the year after the Buck-a-queers won the Superbowl, the Saints swpet them in the regular season. Happy New Year WHO DATS!!!!
