Down by contact
Okay the fumble, I thought for a player to be down it was their knee that had to be down? Then what are people talking about an arm or elbow being considered down, please enlighten me. On a side note this was a game that in years past the Saints would have just rolled over and died. These boys dont know what quit is they will play bell to bell and give 1000% effort. That is what makes this team special. And that is what could end up taking us to the promised land. Also I'm in Pensacola, Florida where in New Orleans would you guys reccomend watching that certain game that happens at the end of the season that determines a champion?:)

An arm or elbow, a butt cheek, the back, or the knee counts as down. I think that about covers the list.
I think it’s basically when any part of the ball carrier’s body, other than his hands and/or feet, is in contact with the ground, while either in contact with a defensive player, and/or due to such contact, while in possession of the ball. That’s considered down by contact.

Ball was coming out before...
I feel pretty confident watching back and forth on DVR that it was a catch and a fumble, I have heard other opinions but I believe they got this one right!

especially the angle from the immediate sidleine...
you can cleary see the ball coming out before even his forearm is down

Watching The GAME...
There is going to be a party for the Super Bowl in NOLA if the Saints go to the big one. I am sure there are going to be many many parties…but I am putting one together, probably in the French Quarter but it could be uptown too, but a bunch of guys from the Fox site and everyone I know and hopefully some from here that will be getting together to watch the game….the GGM’s party will be a blast and have some friends from the old days who still work in the hotel bizz so we’ll get a discount on a block of rooms for everyone coming in from out of town….we have to get there but when we do….the party is on like Donkey Kong!

Thanks for the clarification. OH YES THE PARTY IS ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!(At least if the ghosts dont get me this time.)
Any suggestions on a venue to watch the game from?
I’m leaning very strongly to somewhere in the Quarter and here’s why…I know as natives a lot of us think of the quarter as tourista land, but it is where the crazy will be….I’m going to get rooms in the Quarter for my crew…anyone else and the more the cheaper probably. The reason I’m not leaning towards uptown where I grew up or midtown like Fat Harry’s or something is because after the game I think the quarter will be the place to be and I won’t have to drive….DWI….ya feel me? If anyone that is interested in joining the GGM’s crowd from Fox and my local crew it would be great! If anyone that is interested has suggestions on the best location that would be great. The VGG has worked at a few places in the Quarter and almost all my sib’s have lived in the quarter at some time in the past…our Grandmother ran the old Nahan’s Art Gallery for about 30yrs so we have all been running around Royal and Bourbon since we were in diapers. I don’t know how long we can wait or should wait to make plans but any input from anyone interested in joining us or not would be appreciated. Anybody who has a bud who owns a good venue a little nepotism is cool….

NOLA party
NY-er here who’s been a fan for 25 years or so. For years, I’ve been telling my friends that if the Saints ever make it to the Super Bowl that I would head down to NOLA for the game (regardless of where it’s actually played), as the entire city would be a huge party.
If this is our year, I’m definitely making it happen. Please keep threads like this going…it’s a HUGE plus to see stuff like this for the out of towners that would love to hit the town with the locals.
Been to NOLA 6 times, love it like a second home, and would have the time of my life watching my team in the big game…
When we make it to the Super Bowl
it won’t matter where the game is… NOLA be Rock’in………………….
