Doesn't make since......

I have been reading and listening to the experts all season. I just ran across a segment on NFL Network that was interesting. The question was posed that if the undefeated Saints and undefeated Colts met in Miami, who would win? Now i know that due to the past history of the Saints that they would automatically pick the Colts. But all of you know we have a defense this year that has been pretty remarkable. To make a long story short they were saying that the Colts defense was better.

Also, when they talk about the game against the Redskins, they always fail to mention the factors that were going against us. ( Short week, missing 4 starters on D, cold/sloppy weather conditions.) Now to me that seems like some pretty legitamate reasons that our team didn't play up to par. They also failed to mention what the Pats did to the Colts a few weeks ago, and the reason the Colts didn't lose. ( See the 4th and 2 call by the Pats.) Who knows if the Colts would have won if the Pats would have punted? I don't, but a win is a win right?

It almost seems like the national media is embarrased to say anything good about the Saints unless they blow out the Pats. Once we have a bad game like the one against the Skins they conveniently forgett to mention the factors. But then again, maybe it's just me.

Nothing new really...

It’s funny because, if I remember correctly, we made the Pats look like a bunch of amateurs when we played them. And who was it that beat them by the skin of their teeth? Oh, that’s right, it was the Colts.

Honestly, I can’t stand all these piss poor ‘sports commentators’ that seem to live in an alternate reality. They only mention the Saints if they absolutely have to, and when they do they are always bashing on and doubting them. And God forbid they start talking about the best QB in the league. To them, the only QBs worth considering are named Peyton and Tom.

Just ignore those mouth-breathing retards. The Saints will prove how stupid those guys really are, as usual.

It doesn't matter

all that matters is we keep winning!

Those teams have both won Super Bowls

and had 12-14 wins a season for the past 5-6 years and this is our 1st. so the Saints will not get the respect they deserve this year so far. The answer to that is to do something no other team has done before, that being…………….Undefeated season, NFC Championship, and to top it off…………Win the Super Bowl. From that point on, the Saints will be the Best of the Best untill it’s done again, which may NEVER happen again.
Hence the terms……….From the out house to the penthouse, From Zero to Hero……..
and the last……Super Saints !!!!!!!!!

But the Colts DO have a better defense

They’ve given up 50 points less than we have…that’s 4 points per game. They give up less yards per game and less yards per play. Maybe our problems are due to having starters out…but so what? The reason doesn’t matter, only the fact that the Colts’ defense has been more effective.

Don’t kid yourselves…Indianapolis is still the best team in the AFC, until someone proves otherwise. And in a head-to-head match, it’s a toss-up. Frankly, that strikes me as good news. We’re in the position right now that Indianapolis was in years ago: the beginning of a dynasty. These Saints could be very good for a long time.

And the Saints have 110 more points scored

49 of which are defense(14 for Indy). Of course you could add Meachem’s to the D. We have a very aggressive, opportunistic defense. So, the styles are radically differennt, not particularly better. I don’t particularly like the match-up, though, of Peyton Manning and our defense. Not really a lot of opportunity to take advantage of there.

WHODAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Take that!!!!!!!!!!!

For all those wanting to compare our Pats win and theirs...

let’s compare their Rams win to ours. They blew them out by like 30 points or something. We won by 5. Comparing wins to wins doesn’t do any good. Plus their D is better statistically. Not as oppurtunistic as ours but they don’t give up alot of points really and limit teams points to mostly FGs. We haven’t done that consistently. I agree with ME that it’d be a tossup. I think we have a bit more of an advantage with our running game and the fact that our D causes more TOs but they give up less points. It’d be anyone’s game that I would love to see!

Superbowl bound!!!...I know! do you?! Go Saints!!

Just doesn't make sense

Some history sheds light on the treatment of our Saints by the media. I was in Jr High when we originally moved to NOLA. The next year, bud adams supergenius, fired Bum Phillips from the Oilers. Bum brought Earl Campbell with him and the Saints became contenders. Instead of touting the Saints as contenders, national media avoided any mention of The Tyler Rose or Bum. I hate the media, and a Saints win in Miami would equal a large red hot poker up their poo chute!

The Saints Defense is not that good

The Saints lost 5 of their 8 games last year by 3 points or less, so the D doesn’t have to be great. But let’s not kid ourselves, it is really only the Defensive backs and coaching that improved. The D line is getting more sacks because people are being covered for a count or two longer. You put Jason David back in there again and the sack totals will drop.

Nay

We have better D-line and D-end play. Will Smith is much more explosive, and Hargrove really is a supafreak

by ReggieVilma on Dec 9, 2009 10:14 PM CST up reply actions

Smith played with a hernia

last year. It’s not really the same D-Line but IMO the difference is that we don’t play that vanilla defense that Gary Gibbs called. Gregg Williams gets the most out of everyone. GWs scheme is the difference. Hell we started the Pats game in a 3-4. When have you ever seen that??

And our CBs

before Greer and Porter went out, they had the most passes defensed, and most incompletions to receivers than any other CB tandem in the NFL……that is huge. With both of them back in the lineup and sharper leading them back there our defense is outstanding…Run Def is our only weakness and even with that we are in the top half of the league

Plus Lil joe

teams stop running once we get up (look at Car, Miami, St. louis) All 3 ran all over us in the 1st half, then we came out, made adjustments, took the lead and they became one dimenstional

by touchdown my pants on Dec 10, 2009 11:09 AM CST reply actions

Yes

I think our defensive half time adjustments have been great against the run. In my opinion, no one has beaten us wiith the run. They have done well with it in first halves and then came out and choked in the second. Now i’m not going to go get a bunch of stats and shit to back that up cuase frankly, i’m lazy. Just my observations.

I'm with ya dmcgoey

stats can be manipulated all you want. just bc a team is ranked ### in the run doesn’t mean that’s what they are going to do each week. I hate all stats except 12-0
