Here's how I see it
The Cardinals were lucky. They benefited from playing three games in a row against teams that were flat as pancakes. Atlanta should have beaten them, but played probably their worst game of the season. Carolina should have beaten them handily, but Jake Delhomme played the worst game of his career, and got little or no help from the rest of the team (where was Steve Smith? where was Julius Peppers? why didn’t they “take over” the game?).
Philadelphia played flat for a half and let Arizona get an insurmountable lead—then came out in the second half and surmounted it. They just couldn’t stop that one, last drive, and that’s why the Cardinals find themselves in a championship game.
I get the feeling they think they’ve seen everything. They haven’t. The Cardinals are like a man who fought a mean dog and won; then he fought a cougar and won; then he fought a bear and won. Now he thinks, “I can whip anything that comes up against me.” Next up, though, is a helicopter gunship. The Steelers are a whole order of magnitude beyond what the Cardinals have faced so far.
Or not. We’ll see. That’s why they play the game.
Oh when the Saints...Start kicking ass...You don't want to be in that number...
Im going for the Cards...
i like Warner’s feel good story. Although I couldn’t care less who wins. It wouldn’t be bad to see my boy Polomalu get one either. But you’re right MtnExile, they are very lucky. Their division sucked. But they doin it big right now. Can’t knock that. And are you talking about me with that analogy. Because sure, I’m not overconfident at all, I realize that dog, cougar and bear were nothing compared to a helicopter. But come on, not too many people can say they fought those animals and lived!!
Don't worry I got your back cuz...
I'll start off with a story
I’m at my daughter’s photo exhibit Friday night, people are filing in to see it and say hi. I know a few of them. Suddenly I spy some punk in a Chicago Bears winter coat. I grumble a little and try to move on. But he’s in my line of sight and I hate that C. Finally, I’m aggravated. I walk up behind him and say “Hey man… I’m a New Orleans Saints fan. And we’re going to beat your ass. Even if it takes 10 more tries.” He turns around and says “I hear you, man.” And I say “All right then. Go Saints!” and he goes “I hear you.” You may be thinking I have some cojones but I don’t. He was holding his baby in a carrier at the time. But still… hate those Bears.
Change is GOOD.
just checking in for a minute...
did anyone see Pittsburgh’s guard #62 pull Roehtelisberger into the end zone on that challenged play?
I thought it was illegal to pull or push your own player forward? I know they never call it anyway, and teams always seem to get away with it on short-yardage plays when a QB or WR or other RB push the pile, but I’ve always wondered if I’m crazy for thinking it’s illegal, so I looked it up on nfl.com.
They have a digest of rules, and it says this:
No player on offense may assist a runner except by blocking for him. There shall be no interlocking interference.
And then, under the summary of infractions, it says this in the 10-yard penalty section:
Helping the runner.
Am I nuts for thinking the Steelers (and all the other teams that do it) should have been penalized on that play?
The Detroit Lions are on the clock!

I did see that. They rarely call it. Also ball carrier can’t vault a defender and the NEVER call that, good for Reggie.
Change is GOOD.
Yeah, I just also saw that the rules digest still has a penalty listed for incidental face mask
they just changed that one this year…

You have to admit
that was amazing.
Oh when the Saints...Start kicking ass...You don't want to be in that number...
Just two guys on here?
GO CARDS!!! The Cardinals are showing us the way. They’re proving that a team that’s never made it to the big game can indeed win a Super Bowl. I hope they hold on and win this mofo! Usama’s commercial was AWESOME. At least we had one Saints player on today.
Go Saints!!!!

Damn It!
As soon as I post that, the Steelers almost score. Come on Cards D!
Go Saints!!!!

That's a catch and TD
He tapped both feet down.
Go Saints!!!!

This has actually turned into a great game.
Oh well, this may leave it open for the Saints to become the first team without a SB win to finally win it all next year. If the Cards manage to pull this out, I may just poop myself.
Go Saints!!!!

That was the most incredible Super Bowl I've ever seen
And that was a fumble. So was the earlier one.
Oh when the Saints...Start kicking ass...You don't want to be in that number...
It's not a fumble!
Can anyone remember a season where the officiating was this consistently awful. I can’t. Cards fans are gonna be pissed about that fumble call.
Go Saints!!!!

Your night will probably get worse
They’ll probably give it to him even though he doesn’t really deserve it. It should go to the entire Steelers D. I want to see another replay of that fumble call. His arm looked to be going forward.
Go Saints!!!!

You mean Polamalu?
For what?
Oh when the Saints...Start kicking ass...You don't want to be in that number...
You mean why don’t I like him? His Samson hair, his rah rah attitude, he’s a steeler, ….. I like Bob Sanders a lot. But I do not like Poly. I guess I don’t know why.
Change is GOOD.
No, I mean
why should he be MVP?
Oh when the Saints...Start kicking ass...You don't want to be in that number...
His arm WAS going forward
But the ball was already out of his hand. Just like the first one that was called back.
Oh when the Saints...Start kicking ass...You don't want to be in that number...
I'll need to see it again.
You may be right, but it looked very close. I guess it really doesn’t matter now.
Go Saints!!!!

My stomach hurts
That was even more draining than Pittsburgh-Seattle.
Oh when the Saints...Start kicking ass...You don't want to be in that number...
I know how you feel
If the Cardinals had won, I would have been pissed, too. The truth is, both these teams deserved to win tonight—and both deserved to lose. The Cardinals blew it. The Steelers nearly blew it. It was a painful, draining game.
Oh when the Saints...Start kicking ass...You don't want to be in that number...
At least we'll get to see Drew play next weekend.
I just hope he doesn’t hurt his arm again in this one. LET THE OFFSEASON BEGIN!
Go Saints!!!!
by David "Satch" Kelly on Feb 1, 2009 9:18 PM CST reply actions
That makes 6 for them.
Now we’ll hear a lot of crap during the offseason about how they are the most successful franchise. That’s why I was rooting for the Cards.
Go Saints!!!!
