New Orleans Saints Release Deuce McAllister
As per the Times Picayune
The Saints and tailback Deuce McAllister officially will part ways in a joint press conference this afternoon, ending one of the most successful and popular runs in franchise history.
"Decisions like this are always very difficult ones to make," Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis said in a statement before the press conference. "Deuce has epitomized hard work, leadership and productivity throughout his career and has been a source of great pride for all of us associated with the team. His records and accomplishments on the field speak for themselves about the type of player he was in a Saints uniform. He truly ranks as one of the greatest players in our club's history, and we are very respectful of everything he has meant to the Saints and our community."
Sad, sad day for me. I am hoping this is just someone jumping the gun and trying to break a story that has no substance behind it. God i am getting sick of breaking bad new on this site.

Gone but never forgotten
This is indeed a sad day, but we all knew it was coming. I kinda figured it would happen this week and in this way. I most want to hear and read what Deuce has to say about it. I’m sure he’ll be as magnanimous as he always is. This quote from Payton is interesting:
Today, we start the process of trying to replace him and find that player that embodies what Deuce McAllister has meant to this team.
Today, we start?
Go Saints!!!!

meaning “Today we start the slow, agonizing process of revealing to the world our plan to replace him.” No progress on that yet.
I was playing Madden 07 last night (Saints @ Bears) and Deuce was killing it, just like in real life. I still have my videotapes too. He’s a special guy and he will be missed.
So many provocations, so little time.
If Sean Payton was here right now i think i would have to punch him square in the face. I am extremely pissed off.
"We couldn't do diddly poo"
Now there’s a sentiment I can get behind.

I just got to thinking...
My cousin just had the idea that the Texans will pick him up, and he will be the thunder to Steve Slaton’s lightning. I would LOVE THAT!!! I’d start going to Texans games…
And that is one jersey of an ex-Saint I’d be DAMN PROUD to wear…
Alright...I'm cool with Harper. Bullocks must go!
the market for Deuce
will tell the real tale of this move. My guess is Deuce will be available for awhile. remember Shaun Alexander last year?
Just sorry the financial side of the game has become so dominant. I’ll never forget the Philly playoff game. Incredible.
Being a Saints fan will take years off your life
This makes me...
want to take the rest of the day off from work and go home to watch some of my favorite Deuce games. The three that most come to mind are:
the January 13, 2007 (my birthday) NFC playoff game against the Eagles: Deuce was an unstoppable tank that night. Remember when he disappeared into a pile of linemen and still managed to score the TD?
this past season against the 49ers: easily his best game of last year
this past season against the Pack: sets the Saints TD record
I just want to go home, down some beers, and maybe shed a few tears. Even though I knew this day was coming, it still hurts to see him go.
Go Saints!!!!

poll on Saints website
Vote on Deuce’s best game: The 2007 Eagles playoff game is ahead at 57%.
So many provocations, so little time.
That
was the greatest Saints game ever played. How could it not be Deuce’s best?
Oh when the Saints...Start kicking ass...You don't want to be in that number...
True
Best Saints game ever! Then, the next game a week later was one of the worst ever. Deuce barely got the damn ball! I’m so glad I got that Philly playoff game on tape.
Go Saints!!!! Deuce may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.

i love deuce
just hope somebody that could use him picks him up – maybe like the eagles and then i’d selfishly be able to watch him every wekk.

Deuce should
whoop the shit out of Payton for questionable ass play calling that got him hurt in the first damn place.
A sad day
i began as being a saints fan 7 years ago only because of a young man named Deuce. Living pretty far from New Orleans i never got the opportunity to see him play live in the regular season. Luckily i got a chance to see him with at TD at the Bengals during the preseason… just a sad day
does anyone have video of his record TD against GB?
definitely the eagles game
without a doubt. i’m from pennsylvania and my dad’s a lifelong eagles fan – i don’t know how i became a saints fan, i’ve just liked them since as far back as i can remember. i was watching the game with my dad and i literally dropped to the floor after the fumble by the saints toward the end of the game(think it was reggie’s?). i know my dad was secretly rooting for the saints though because he knew how much it meant to me. special day for me personally and for deuce and the saints.
was also wondering about the record td video as mentioned by my name counterpart above
