Around SBN: Tiger Woods, Tony Romo Grouped Together At Pebble Beach

The Saints made the highest possible tender to Evans - a one-year, $2.792 million offer - which means the Saints would receive both a first- and third-round pick as compensation if their starting left guard signs with another team. They also have the option to match any deal he signs with another team.

They offered Moore a one-year, $1.545 million deal, which means they would receive a second-round pick as compensation if the starting receiver signs with another team and they don't match the offer.

They made the lowest possible tender to Torrence - a one-year, $1.01 million offer, which does not include any draft-pick compensation since the backup cornerback entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2005. They still have the option to match any deal he signs elsewhere, though.

If I was an NFL GM looking for a good WR

I’d jump on Moore. A second-rounder? Lance is at least as good as any projected 2nd-rounder in the draft, plus he’s got the NFL experience to prove it.

I hope nobody agrees with me, because I really want to see Lance back next year. I bet Drew does too.

Oh when the Saints...Start kicking ass...You don't want to be in that number...

Hmmm...I wish we'd have tendered him at that First rounder level.

I think he’s worth it, and I also wouldn’t have a problem if he signed elsewhere…essentially a trade for a first rounder. I don’t think we could get a first rounder for Reggie.

But for the record, I like Lance and hope he returns…

Thanks Deuce!

Am I the only one puzzled by this?
Tight end Dan Campbell, 32, was released this month by Detroit, where his career was derailed by elbow and hamstring injuries. When healthy, he has been productive as both a blocker and receiver with the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys and Lions. He was a favorite of Saints Coach Sean Payton when they worked together in Dallas between 2003-2005.

With Shockey’s injury history, it probably doesn’t hurt to bring in another TE, but why this guy? He’s got a bit of an injury history too. I guess Mark Campbell or Buck Ortega will be let go. It kinda makes me nervous when Payton brings in “favorite” players from past teams. He may not be as good a player as Payton remembers, since he last worked with him four years ago.

I’d like to see Lance back next year too.

Go Saints!!!! Deuce may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.

no I was just typing my own Campbell post

I’ll bet Mark Campbell could kick his ass.

I much prefer the Mark version over the Dan. At least we KNOW when Mark is going to get hurt: Virtually on every play, but still.

So many provocations, so little time.

HA!

I like Mark and wish an injury didn’t happen to him virtually every time he catches a pass. I get nervous for him every time I see him catch one.

Go Saints!!!! Deuce may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.

He used to really annoy me

But now I see him as a real over-achiever. He should be teaching middle school PE somewhere but he’s an NFL tight end. With the grace of a big doofy white guy. I want to see him land on his ear hole at least one more time. “Campbell makes the catch…. but he is shaken up on the play.”

So many provocations, so little time.

At least we didn't give up anything

Under those circumstances, it’s worth taking a look. But I wish Payton would judge players by their recent productivity, rather than what he remembers from years ago. He made that mistake with Shockey, and I bet it’s going to cost us a top-notch free safety in this draft.

yeah, satch and stu

another injury-prone, aging tight end named Campbell? Add Shockey to that mix and three of our four TEs can’t stay on the field! How can that help?

Where are Hoby Brenner and John Tice when you need them?

The Detroit Lions are on the clock!

 I can’t believe he’s worth that much.

I'd be pissed

Tracy Porter, Usama Young and Roman Harper are playing in 2009 for about a half million each. Does that seem right to you?

Well its official

We signed him:

Ala Rotoworld

Saints signed TE Dan Campbell.
Campbell has no fantasy value, but he can be a quality reserve as a solid run blocker and receiver. The injury-plagued veteran will replace fellow MASH unit tight end Mark Campbell as the third-stringer behind Jeremy Shockey and Billy Miller.

I guess the Mark Campbell era is over

Somebody help me deal with this.

Sign Lito Sheppard and convert him to tight end

I guarantee you, he’d be hurt on every play. And you could go, “GAAAAAAAA!” every time it happened.

Sign Lito Sheppard and I’m going to go “GAAA!” on every play anyway.

stujo...

At this point I think Reggie is still “perceived” to be worth a first rounder. I mean come on, its Reggie Bush. What he did last year prior to the injuries is stuck on opposing teams minds. And I also don’t get why we took the Campbell guy but may be just to be deep in that position I guess. All I know is that we really need to upgrade our defense. Hopefully, next year we can at least be mediocre. That would be an improvement!

Don't worry I got your back cuz...

I think poor Mark is gone.
