Huard cut by Chiefs
http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/02/24/chiefs-cut-surtain-edwards-and-huard/
Huard to be the new backup? He's obviously still got some left in the tank, he's done a decent job when asked to come in and manage games, and he's a smart, smart QB. Seems a Payton kind of guy to me, he just might want a little bit more money than we want to invest in our backup...

I think he means Huard may be a savings over Brunell
And Huard may indeed be fine; but I’d rather the Saints keep Brunell if Payton is comfortable with him. One thing you can say for Payton: nobody is qualified to school the man on quarterbacks or the passing game. If he’s okay with Brunell, so am I; if he wants Huard, I say go for it.
Oh when the Saints...Start kicking ass...You don't want to be in that number...

And if he thinks Joey is a worthy project then you are all for it, right?

I said nobody can school Payton on quarterbacks
Joey isn’t a quarterback. He’s an albatross. Maybe Payton mistook him for a pelican, and that’s why they signed him.

God no.. He cant play anywhere in the same ballpark as Brees.
Please dont misunderstand me.
My view of passer ratings is about as favorable as my view of say… Lito.
All I am saying is that he was given a raw deal from the get go. I think that given a chance with a line that can protect him for more then 2.5 nanoseconds he could be a starter on more then one team in the league.
The boy needs his confidence back and being a backup behind Brees, seeing how it can be done, maybe is / was all he needed. He never had a real QB to watch to learn from.
At the end of the day, all I am saying is … I don’t see a need to waste money / draft picks paying for another QB on the chance something happens to Brees. If that happens the offense will not run as smoothly, doesn’t matter WHO you bring in.
