A former undrafted free agent (Toledo), Moore is quick, dynamic and runs precise pass routes. Think of Wes Welker (New England), with more speed and wiggle. We normally don’t recommend a player with second-round compensation, but Moore is more accomplished than any wide receiver a team can draft in the second round. And wide receiver is a position where players don’t exactly thrive as rookies.

1) Everybody knows Welker. How many fans know Lance Moore? That is some BS.
2) We’re lucky that is some BS. Lance is a steal. Let’s all cross our fingers and hope nobody notices him.

Guess you're as nervous as I am

Colston, Henderson, Arrington, Meachem…even if it does have some rytmh to it, how can Pay-Loo let go Brees emergency go to guy? We know Colston will have a better season next year but isn’t Moore, no disrespect for Henderson’s surprising efficiency last year, a bigger contributor on offence then the last 3?

I’ve been worried since the Saints tendered Lance. After readfing (thanks Hollywoo!) how poorly RFAs did on “free” market over recent years (3.7 player a year and nine players in the last 3 switching teams), I feel a bit relieve.
I think our front office is gambling a bit but willing to match any offer sheet our man could ink elsewhere.

I do think it’s worth the bet because you’re right: Who would notice a 5’9, 190 pds and white wide receiver unless you’re Ben Cahoon playing in the CFL?!?!
.
Love the new signature…

2nd round pick

They put him out there as a win win.
Yes we lose him if someone takes him but we get a 2nd round pick. Quick trade of our 1 for someone elses high 2 and 3 and maybe a 4 and all of a sudden we hvae a Draft.
Downside is we lose Mr Hands.

Noone takes him, we get him for a pittance. Brees has Mr Hands to throw to and our #1 offense doesnt miss a bit.
Downside, we have no draft.

Yeah, well I can live without drafting another Jonathan Sullivan this year if we get to keep Lance. Lance is a known quantity. The second round pick is a big unknown.

true but

read the post on the main page where it goes into detail what SF did that year.

We know there is playing talent in the 2nd round. We know we are thinking of paying 1st round money to someone that would be available in the 2nd round but we cant draft there so we have to take in 1st.

Like I said. IF they take him we can drop our #1 for another 2 and more.

Lance Moore isn't just the equivalent of a second-round choice

…he’s the best possession receiver this team has had since Danny Abramowicz (for those of you too young to remember, think Fred Biletnikoff. Oh wait, same era…). I will be very upset if they don’t do everything possible to re-sign him, and I bet Drew will be, too.

It would be one thing if this draft had a Ronnie Lott or a Charles Haley in it. So far, it doesn’t look like that’s the case; and that being so, I have a hard time finding a single player I’d be willing to draft in exchange for Lance Moore. With all the accolades that Drew gets, it may really have been Lance who saved our season.

RE-SIGN LANCE MOORE!

Lance Moore

I’m on the same page with most of you guys, I’d give up Colston before I give up Moore. Colston, like Bush, has contributed RELATIVELY little compared to their respective competition Moore and Thomas/McCallister. After Deuce, i believe Moore is arguably THE most effective player on the team. I’d sell my left arm for the guy.

Welcome to the comments section, JAH

Now, if you tell us you are left handed, I’ll be REALLY impressed! LOVE the Lance!
