sign him...
then trade him and our 1st rounder for boldin??? i know its not gonna happen, and you can argue that the draft pick might be more valuable than boldin (esp w/ his injuries)…BUTT, if we really are trying to win THIS YEAR, think about that offense. colston, boldin, bush, PT, maybe even a meech or an arriginton that performs. im just dreaming here, but all that combined with our O-line AND a slightly improved (?) defense…
i know we need to improve the DEF, but cant we dream for a minute?
Stupid finger slip
I disagree, we had the number 1 offense and we were 8-8 and sat at home during the playoffs. With Boldin we would offensive records and still be sitting at the house come playoffs.
We need defensive help more than another weapon for Brees.

The absolute stupidity of drafting Meachem
will haunt us again
I still don’t understand what the hell we were thinking.
I mean, do we really have people so stupid making that decision?
he had a hunch
Payton thought you’d be calling him a genius at this point, the next Bill Walsh. Oh well.

Meachem
If he does not produce this year, he will be gone, Or he maybe on the chopping block we just dont know it yet. If I had a choice, trade him for a 3rd round pick, drop the cap and get someone worth throwing the ball too. Hell pick up boldin! LOL
It's 6:53 am EST, and after checking nola.com, espn.com, and nfl.com
And as of this hour, there is no news of Lance re-signing with Saints.
C’mon, Mickey…is your fax machine on the blink? I know you bought the service plan with it, and I’m sure you kept extending the warranty to keep it protected, too. Why didn’t you get the repairman out to service it earlier in the week?
I know…I bet there was a paper jam, and he’s trying to figure out where it is.

Boldin would be bad for this team
We already have so many playmakers that there are not enough footballs to go around. B U T …….fortunately we haven’t had an me,me, me, me me, guys so far that would mess the chemistry up when they want their due share and more every quarter and every game. That’s really been a plus. You put a guy like Boldin, TO, Moss, etc in there and everything will change. It’s a delicate situation- these guys (SAints receivers) are all stars who can take over a ball game and want to take over a ball game, but they are also team players. Could be a major problem with the wrong guy in the mix.
And it is too early to judge Mreachem. Clearly he has shown he can play in the NFL. You don’t make it into the endzone by luck in this league. He needs his chance. If he had no value he would have been gone by now but Peyton would be afraid to let a playmaker go to another team and haunt us.
Question
Is
Mreachema typo, or a very clever nickname? It did feel like a “reach” for us to select him in the first round.

Let's consider Meachem as objectively as we can.
He was actually ranked the 20th best player in the draft shortly afterwards, on May 8, 2007. The Saints took him with the 27th pick.
Yes, Greg Olson and Anthony Gonzalez were still available, taken at 31 and 32. They were ranked as the 19th and 35th best players in that draft.

point taken...not so much a reach as a "Why did we pick him when we had so many defensive needs?"

Lance to Jets?
Well a buddy of mine called me a few mins ago, and hes a big Jets fan, he works for a paper in New Jersey, their is word that the Jets have made an offer to the Saints for Lance Moore, I am not sure the whole details but if you think about the Jets are in postion to get him. They have a 2nd round pick and need a WR. So how untrue this is I dont know. I dont want to start rumers but this does feel like it could be ligit.
No need to sign him
The deal is that if another team does not sign him, Moore stays a Saints and plays under the one-year offer worth $1.545 million. Then the Saints can work on a long term deal.
So, does anyone else feel like no news is good news?
i.e., can we assume that since we’ve heard no news of him signing elsewhere, and that it now is after the restricted FA signing period, he is actually and factually now still a Saint and is “signed” to the tender offer we extended to him?
