Breaking News: 14th pick
JENKINS??!!
Being reported in his Monday Morning QB column on si.com Peter King states:
What I want to do now is try to tell you a few things I've learned on the phone and via text messages in the last week or so, in no particular order
• New Orleans is going defense with its only pick, at 14, in the first three rounds.
This news is very exciting to me. That gives the Saints in my opinion, three solid options if they are still sitting at 14 and do not move down. Those options are Jenkins, Cushing and Matthews. The only other player I think they may consider would be Peria Jerry from Ole Miss, but I am not sold on them selecting him at 14 overall. I think Williams would want a versatile player, making either Jenkins or Matthews the pick over Cushing.

Yeah, but...
I think he has this one exactly right (somehow). If we’re stuck at #14, I would take that breakdown myself. I’m not big on Cushing, per se, but if Gregg likes Matthews-then-Cushing, I’ll go with Gregg.
If Jenkins is gone at 14...
… then it is Knowshon Moreno. Bet the farm.

Headstrong PayLoo will have their way.

if jenkins is gone at 14...
trade down and pick up a late first and maybe an early 2nd so we can get Chung!
Superbowl bound!!!...I hope? Go Saints! :D

Need to be honest with themselves and think about the saints. What their needs are! Please! The institution hypes up their players (everyone does and rightfully so) but THE SAINTS will be better served by trading down and getting 2-3 draft picks and drafting a class consisting of: DT,FS,OLB,C,RB (5 picks) …. RG, WR [7 picks] – RFA or trades in future. This draft is deep in WR and if we make some trade(s) we can steal a great WR in beginning of 2nd round – only if we pick up more picks than a 1st,2nd,2_4th’s & a 7th! via a pick, future pick or player trade
Why do we need a defensive tackle?
Last year we drafted two, including one in the first round. Why would we do that again?
And wide receiver is the last thing we need, considering the emergence of Lance Moore and the fact that we’ve got Adrian Arrington coming online this year.
RE-SIGN LANCE MOORE!

I think most people forget about Pressley at the DT position
Sometime in the next few years the saints will need to get younger at DT though. Side note, WR is probably the least needed position of all. Colston, Moore, Henderson, Meachem, Arrington plus Roby and Green. Not to mention we’ve got Bush, Shockey and Miller catching a bunch of passes. The Saints really need a free safety, strong side linebacker, center and power running back.
yeah but
even though it’s not a pressing draft need, we need to add a DT at some point. excluding the two we drafted last year, the youngest interior lineman on our roster is 31. we need youth at the position even if it’s just a developmental prospect, but don’t be surprised if it happens earlier than you think—although i don’t buy for a second that we want raji so bad we’ll trade up to get him. but our interest in ron brace as well as sedrick ellis’s former teammate fili moala make me think we might go 2nd-3rd rd DT if we can.
