The SAINTS restore sanity to the world?!
Get a load of this, from Walter Cherepinsky's draft blog:
5:39: Phew, finally caught up. If the Saints don't go Malcolm Jenkins, I'm giving up.
5:41: With the 14th Pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select Malcolm Jenkins, FS, Ohio State. There's some sanity in this world! If Scott Pioli were making this pick, he may have taken Chase Daniel(s).
He later adds this:
14. Malcolm Jenkins, FS, Ohio State
No more nosebleeds for Saints fans! Malcolm Jenkins should make New Orleans' secondary much better. With Jenkins, they'll finally hold teams to less than 30 points per game. (Pick Grade: A)
Would you ever in a million seasons think that the Saints could be counted on to restore your confidence in the possibility of a properly-run franchise? We've had some classic Millen moments of our own in our history, but this--coming from a man who's declared himself in the past to be "no Saints fan"--indicates how much our team has turned it around under Loomis and Payton. As much as we grouse, we're really pretty lucky.

We all need to appreciate this. Don’t have to idolize them. Just appreciate it.
Rotoworld.com:
Raiders selected Wisconsin DE Matt Schaunessy with the No. 71 pick in the NFL Draft.
NFL Network’s Mike Mayock had Schaunessy rated as a sixth-rounder, which makes two reaches in a row for the Raiders.

Today was intresting
My lions fan friends all went to find their applications for Raider Nation, well one didnt but his wife handed me the phone to talk him down off the roof.
She said she didn’t mind if he jumped but being a 1 story house he was probably just going to break a leg and she wasn’t going to look after him so best I get him down.
Us on the other hand… I am happy. I don’t think I have been happy with our first round pick very often. Dont get me wrong some have turned out to be wonderful picks in hindsight but actually smiling after the pick is announced is a rather new feeling for me.
Now if they can just resist the urge to waste any of our 3 remaining picks on a RB I dont think I will lose my smile. I wont go postal anymore if they do however, that was reserved for the first round pick.

2 down, 1 to go, MT
Sean Payton may have been reading your many “We don’t frickin’ need a RB!” posts. :-)

Only for a short while. Where's the pass rush?? It was horrible last eyar.
I thought the Saints made 2 excellent choices first 2 picks, but I think they could have done betrter the next 2. A punter? What is this thing with Peyton and punters? Does it have to do with $$? I thought our Punters and Kickers were fine. Still would like to see someone drafted who might be part of a pass rush.

right...
so we know what a blocked punt can do to totally change a game.
Anyone remember the home opener ….. we won the game on that play alone.
So now we TRADE FING UP for a punter who is know for getting his punts blocked.
boggle

You did. He has a perfect record through his entire college career of having exactly zero punts blocked.
Granted the college game isn’t the NFL, but I call that a good start. :)

Then where
does all this business about him being known for his blocked punts come from? This isn’t the only site I’ve seen it on.
Bah!

I suspect it was data corruption. Somebody said his claim to fame is that he’s never had a punt blocked. Somebody else hears that his claim to fame is that he’s had several punts blocked. Somebody else hears the second person repeat it and thinks “wow that’s not good” and writes up a blistering commentary for his scouting report… only to hear later on that the whole thing was a misunderstanding so they quietly try to flush it down the memory hole…

clarification… third sentence above should read “Somebody else *mis*hears that his claim to fame…”
