Saints in New Orleans until 2025
AP has broken what the big announcement later today is. Per wwltv.com:
The New Orleans Saints have agreed to a lease extension that will keep the NFL team playing home games in an improved Louisiana Superdome through the 2025 season.
An announcement by Saints owner Tom Benson and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Superdome.
A person with direct knowledge of lease negotiations confirmed to The Associated Press that a general agreement has been reached and was expected to be signed later in the week after final details have been worked out. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team and governor had yet to make the announcement.

Wow, 15 years. There's bound to be
Saints’ Superbowl win in there somewhere!

WooHoooo!
Suck on that Los Angeles! Well, not the actual population or anyone who had nothing to do with trying to acquire a NFL team from some other city. I hope I’m correct in assuming that we won’t have to worry about losing the Saints anytime soon. With Benson, I’ve learned that you can never know for sure. But, this sounds like we keep the team in their rightful place for a while and possible host another Super Bowl, which the Saints will obviously play in and win.
Go Saints!!!! Deuce may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.

Don't apologize for the LA diss
Though I think that San Antonio, which along with OKC tried to turn Hurricane Katrina into a jackpot, deserves more heat. I hope San Antonio enjoys watching the teams in other Texas cities.
(On a side note, what would have been worse: the San Antonio Saints or a changed name ala Oklahoma City Thunder? I shudder to think of what the poor folks in Seattle are thinking right now)
I'm proud of my damn strong football team. Have a great day!

Either scenario
would have been sacrilege.

wwltv.com
will stream the news conference live at 10:00 if anyone is interested in watching.
Saints officially announce they have a new deal with the state to keep the team here through 2025. The deal still must be approved by the legislature.
WWLTV.com will carry live at 10 a.m. the news conference with Gov. Bobby Jindal and New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson that will discuss an agreement between the state, the NFL franchise and the Superdome.

yay
such good news—it would be so horrible to hear “the Los Angeles Saints” (although it’s more fitting than the Utah Jazz—ugh, can’t we just switch names with them??).

I think about that all of the time..
They switched their color schemes, now all they have to do is give us our name back. For we all know there is NO Jazz in Utah. Utah?

No jazz in Utah
Yeah, it doesn’t make much sense. New Orleans was the main birthing ground for jazz and THE birthplace of jazz icons like Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton. Utah never had anything to do with it, so having a sports team based there with that name doesn’t make sense to anyone who knows much about jazz history.
King Oliver, who had led popular bands in New Orleans along with trombonist Edward “Kid” Ory, established the trend-setting Creole Jazz Band in Chicago in 1922. Also in Chicago, the New Orleans Rhythm Kings blended the Oliver and Original Dixieland Jazz Band sounds and collaborated with Jelly Roll Morton in 1923.
Perhaps the most significant departure from New Orleans was in 1922 when Louis Armstrong was summoned to Chicago by King Oliver, his mentor. Louis Armstrong swung with a great New Orleans feeling, but unlike any of his predecessors, his brilliant playing led a revolution in jazz that replaced the polyphonic ensemble style of New Orleans with development of the soloist’s art. The technical improvement and popularity of phonograph records spread Armstrong’s instrumental and vocal innovations and make him internationally famous. His Hot Five and Hot Seven recordings (1925-28), including his celebrated work with Earl Hines, were quite popular and are milestones in the progression of the music.
This concludes today’s music appreciation class. Next class, we’ll discuss the influence of Charlie Parker. :-)

can't wait to use the new mens' rooms
Maybe they’ll slope the floor and have actual drains that work so I don’t have to wade through an inch of urine water in my sandals to get to the pee trough.
Sorry, that wasn’t very positive. I’m sure the latest enhancements will make everything better.

This is so cool
I still remember when after Katrina, we had to watch San Antonio get the Saints, with every media darling talking about how the Saints were as sure as gone.
Now we’ve got 3 sell-out seasons in a row, a better team, and the Saints are willing to cut the state a (sorta) break to stay in New Orleans.
It’s a great day to be a member of Who Dat nation; an even better day to be a native of New Orleans.

Huzzah!
I think the NFL would have been mortally wounded for me if the Saints had ever left NOLA.
