CSC Community Mock Draft: The Jacksonville Jaguars Select...

With the eighth pick in the Canal Street Chronicles community mock draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select...
Percy Harvin, WR, University of Florida
I was really tempted to take a quarterback or maybe take B.J. Raji, but wide receiver is a huge need for the Jaguars. People may this is a little early but the Jaguars need another playmaker besides MJD. When they picked Tra Thomas in free agency it gave them a little flexibility to go elsewhere. Harvin is similar to Steve Smith of the Panthers. He isn’t the tallest player, but 5'11" with a 4.45 forty time isn’t the worst combination. He catches the ball well and usually doesn’t take a hard hit. He has to work on his blocking and his technique some to beat press coverage in the NFL. He can also return kicks so that’s a plus. He may give the Jaguars that solid receiver they haven’t had in years.
The Green Bay Packers are now on the clock...

good job being a Jaguar GM: But what's wrong with Jeremy Maclin (other than the obvious: Missouri)??
Harvin is a Jaguar:
Harvin did not show the game-breaking speed many thought he possessed. Making matters worse, he chose not to participate in the pass-catching workout.
Si
GW: "Sean, I can’t do anything with this guy."
jags fan here
if i have to take a wr, i go maclin, thats just me tho
we dont need a qb,
rajii has character concerns
Im hearing talk of chris wells and michael oher.
i can say tho, the jags do want to trade down very bad. The new GM wants to build through the draft, and we need picks to do that
surreal to be teal
Harvin gets the Reggie Bush comparisons...
but he’s not as fast nor is he as standup. Heard he’s had some off the field issues before.
Don't worry I got your back cuz...
another reach at #8?
I’m not a Jags fan, but I remember last year everyone was scratching their heads when they seemed to reach for Derrick Harvey at the #8 spot, and it seems like Harvin is another Florida-#8-reach for them. Seems like consensus has both Maclin and Nicks as rated higher than Harvin, so I don’t get this pick even if Jacksonville is truly desperate for a WR.
The availability of either Sanchez or Stafford makes a trade-down for the Jags a realistic possibility, as Denver might package the #18 selection from Chicago to move ahead of teams like the 49ers to ensure they can get their QB of the future—unless that’s Kyle Orton (HAHAHAHAHA!).
From what I saw of the Jags last season, while they do need an offensive playmaker, both their lines need to be improved, and they could definitely use some secondary help. Reaching at #8 for, at best, the 3rd-ranked WR in the draft seems like a questionable move.
new regime so forget the reaches
new gm is entirely focused on character, building through the draft, and BAP (Best Available Player)
This is a huge reach and our gm was a d-lineman and coached d-line. Im not sure on what level, but he is big about the lines
Jacksonville needs a LT,
they signed Tra Thomas from philly but he is 32 or 33 and we have no future there. We have almost no wide receivers. Do not be surprised for a breakout year from Mike Walker entering his third year. he missed his rookie season and showed flashes last year amidst injuries.
Our guards are about 30 and we need some youth
Garrard is great but he never has anything to work with.
Now wr’s, o-line allowed him to be sacked second most in the league, and hit the most in the league.
D-line needs a young stud at tackle. Need a SS, also.
Dont be surprised if DT John Henderson is traded.
surreal to be teal
