Around SBN: Randy Moss A Raven?

Some fellow ballcarriers also believe bulking up is a bad idea. "You think you're going to be more durable, but injuries are still going to be there because of his [physical] running style," says former Saints back Deuce McAllister. "You say 10, 12 pounds is going to enable you to punish defenses, but the reward is not worth the risk."
McAllister played at about 220 as a rookie in 2001, then started putting on weight for the rigors of a full-time role after Ricky Williams was traded to Miami in '02. In '05 and '07 McAllister, who weighed 232 by then, sustained ACL tears without being hit. "I believe if I hadn't put on the weight, it wouldn't have happened," he says.

Dig that idea (emphasis mine). I know we're all still just trying to salve our wounds over Deuce's departure, so I hate to open them again, but it is an interesting aspect to Deuce's career that I had not considered. I read it in my Sports Illustrated that arrived in the mail today, in an article about Adrian Peterson wanting to bulk up, but you can find it here Pound-foolish? by Jim Trotter on SI.com. Reactions?

Said this on May 5

regarding Thomas putting on weight: “…it might just put more strain on his joints and shorten his season. Just saying.”

If it was me, I’d listen to Deuce.

Come home, Stuart.

I read that post/thread, but did not remember your oh so insightful comment

Did you remember this being the case for Deuce?

“this” being that he sustained both injuries without being hit, and that he felt his weight gain was the cause of his knee injuries?

Does Wil-Mis-Pay know this? Does anyone have Loomis’ fax number and a fax cover sheet I could borrow? Or does he follow CSC on Twitter and we can get him a message that way?

I will watch PT closely. Bulking up may have cost Deuce a couple of years, with injuries coming after 3-4 years at his new weight.

NFL Live today

AP was on and was talking about putting another tens lbs on… the first thing Trey W. said was referencing what Deuce said and asked him if he was worried about losing any speed… Ap’s rebuttal was to reference Vernon Davis who runs a 4.3….

Vernon Davis has a far larger NATURAL body mass and does not play the same position but who knows everyone’s body is different.
