Who is the Most Valuable Player with Deuce Gone

I'm a big Deuce fan and still hopeful that some type of MIRACLE deal could be worked to get him back on the team.   I am a huge fan of Lance Moore and feel that, after Deuce, he has performed stellarly on the team and is perhaps one of the most underrated players in the NFL, hands down.  The guy is an extremely competitive player and has the potential to fire up guys around him which is really what the Saints need on that team.  So here is the question:  Who dat da man on dis yere team chere'?

voted for Brees

He’s started 48 straight games and put up insane pro bowl QB numbers 3 years in a row. We’ve NEVER had a QB as consistently good as this. He also leads the team woof woof cheer circle before games. He always says the right things to the media. He is straight-A aces on and off the field (i.e. on sidelines and in the NOLA community).

Anyone writing in a vote for Albert Connell gets voted off the island. (look up what this locker room cancer did to the team in the early 2000s)

Brees, all the way

Drew Brees will shortly go down in history as the greatest Saint of all time. It’s too early, after only three years, to say that; but just give it another season or two. There will be no dissenters.

Come home, Stuart.

not even close.

you have to do a poll and say Except for Brees to get any other answer.

haha

you should redo this vote without Brees. It is so obvious it is ridiculous!

Not only now

As much as I love Deuce, and as both a Saints fan and a Mississippian I do, Drew has clearly been the most valuable player on this team since he came here (while Deuce was still playing).

DUH!

(…really, this is just about the most obvious question ever asked, right after “Would like like a Dixie with that pile of boiled crawfish?”

brees...

while lance moore and colston(only other 2 who got votes) are definetly good, they can’t be regarded as mvp of a team really. they are wr and brees makes them phenomenal w/ his great ability. they’d still be awsome w/out him but he makes them seem more like superstar wrs. brees is the obvious choice, especially being on a pass-happy offense. he keeps the game under controll, can run the no huddle by himself, and commands the game so well. not to mention he has killer accuracy and enough arm strength to knock your head off lol. after that it’d be vilma, who is our leader of a D and the biggest ray of sunshine on that side of the ball then i’d have to say reggie b/c he can do so much offensively. line up at slot, rb, is good w/ 2 rb in and takes up the attention of D’s. i won’t say more than that b/c we already have a long post for reggie

Superbowl bound!!!...I hope? Go Saints! :D

Crazy Question

Obvious Answer. Not even worth discussing.

Who's the most valuable player with D-Mac Gone

My memory is poor. However, I believe it was the last game of the season that D.Brees (with all due respect) released a couple of poorly thrown passes when it really counted. This in no wise negates all of the beautifully accurate passes he has thrown. My point here is: often, quarterbacks get the glory (which Drew certainly deserves) without much attention to the receiver unless that receiver is a multimillion dollar Lynn Swann, Jerry Rice, TO. Lance Moore, in my humble opinion, brings his game EVERY game. He appears to give 110% every game. It is this kind of charisma and professionalism that would serve to ignite the players around him…and its because of his overall ‘package’ that he gets my vote.

by JAHson on May 16, 2009 7:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Granted

I’m a Lance Moore fan, too. But if Moore was hurt, we’d play someone else in his place; and while that might make the road bumpier, I would imagine our offense would be able to overcome it.

If we lost Drew…well, that doesn’t even bear thinking about. Suffice to say, Drew Brees is the player who makes the entire Saints offense work. He is not replaceable by anyone on our roster, and only replaceable by perhaps 3 other quarterbacks in the entire league. How you can vote against that is a mystery.

Time to re-sign Deuce!

by MtnExile on May 17, 2009 3:27 PM CDT up reply actions

well....

It is intresting to see not everyone agrees on Brees

The 10 people that voted against him should stand up and defend their pick.

Lets here you all.

Reggie

He has to play a bigger role in the run game, at least until a younger guy gets oriented. He also must continue his special teams performance that it seems like people seem to rely on now. He must continue to be a threat as a playmaker off the screen and pass in order to be a viable spark plug when the opponent’s defense is covering all Drew’s targets and the offense is stalling. Drew is amazing, however a healthy Reggie would perform at a prow bowl level in three facets of the game.

how could u not vote for Brees...

I mean Reggie is def the 2nd but without Brees the Saints are nothing…

Don't worry I got your back cuz...

by TAYDIGGA on May 20, 2009 3:21 AM CDT reply actions

And also

without Reggie the holes get a lot smaller, the rush is coming faster, and there are less big plays.

I'm sorry

I’m not trying to be mean, but the reality is this: If you voted for anyone other than Brees, you don’t really understand football or the Saints. The question should not be MVP (because there is no debate there), the question should be where will that spirit and leadership that Deuce brought come from now? Brees will certainly bring some of that, but I think an argument can be made for some of the other players as well.

by NOLACuse on May 22, 2009 1:00 PM CDT reply actions

Hokay man.

The MVP wasnt’ playing all year last year…. and we didn’t make the playoffs. He will be this year….. and we will. Brees is top three for sure, and I am in no ways saying he is bad (actually the most accurate). But the field opens up so much due to Reggie (mainly the passes to tight ends that aren’ t covered by the LB who are covering Reggie). Add that to the extra yardage Brees gets from dump offs tthat Reggie breaks on the outside. In the past three seasons, I would say Brees. This is a prediction as the post states. Reggie affects three aspects of the game, instead of one, therefore I say Reggie. It’s sound reasoning. You can disagree man, but its not like I’m saying Josh Freeman was worth trading up for.

by ReggieVilma on May 22, 2009 8:16 PM CDT up reply actions

MVP...

what is it?

Most Valuable Player.

Which player if removed from your team would have the most impact.

There is only one answer. Brees.

Anyone else is replacable.. we know this because we have replaced everyone else for games and the results were not OMG different.

Yah we missed the playoffs but if you honestly think that lies anywhere but squarly on the Defense then .. umm… well I am trying to stay polite.

#1 offense

That’s all you have to say. Brees is the only candidate.
