Madden

How many of you guys play Madden?  What year?  On what platform?

I don't have any gaming consoles so I play Madden 08 on my Macbook Pro.

Some thoughts...

1.  Players progress way to fast.  Jason David, in 3 years, became my top corner.

2.  It's fun trying to create the same offseason moves in the game.  I tried to trade for Vilma and they wanted more than what they got in real life.  I did get Shockey though.

3.  When you play long enough (18 seasons) you can eventually get your players to become coaches.  I obviously got Brees to be the head coach.

4.  If you defense is too good (as a group) the inviduals don't get recognized.  Because my defense has mutated over the many seasons into a supernatural group, they defend a lot of passes and create pressure situations where opposing offenses can't connect for a lot of passes.  What happens is, individual tackle totals go WAY down and highly ranked players end up with only 40-60 tackles for the year, and I can't get any of them on the ProBowl teams.

5.  I wish the real Saints defense played like monsters.  In the game, my defense is more highly rated than my offense.

Well, just felt like ranting while I wait for the clock to wind down at work.  Cheers!

I'll take the Saints v.s. anybody

mostly on PS2 in the past( 00,02,04) have 08 on Nin. DS, but by far, my fav is PSP 08 just franchise/seasons (no draft/trade stuff) just straight in your grill football—Drew can’t miss, Deuce runs over people, and in the shot-gun form w/Reggie (lone back) one play he goes straight up field v.s. a Safety and ………..TD

You think you know, and you don't know, and you never, ever will know..Jim Mora Sr.

i'm on xboxlive all the time playing with the Saints...

My record sucks cuz by the time I really started acclamating to the strategies and all the things you have to put up with, it was too late. But now…I’d get in ya!!!! my name is KillinUfrmCali, I play madden 09 from the 360 so hit me up and we can play.

Don't worry I got your back cuz...

Madden Rocks!

Alas it gives you unreal expectations. My offseason moves always work out. I never draft a bust in the first year. Through savy trading I can get multiple 1st round picks every year. I can go unbeaten for years. I’ve always played on the PS2. Well I did have the original on the NES, but that was long ago.

PS2

I got good at 08 but my PS2 broke a little bit after I got 09, so I gotta get that mess fixed.

Draft

a good way to stay under the salary cap is to draft your players and release them into free agency and that way you don’t have to waste time trying to figure out what their ratings are going to be before you sign them. in free agency all of their ratings show up and they are often cheaper than when signed as draft picks.

i saw clips of madden 09 and i almost feel like buying an xbox or ps3 to play…

Highly recommend getting an xbox and 09

It is crazy…put it on a HD tv and you will be glued to the game for hours…

I play Madden 2005 on my old school xbox.

It gets funnier and funnier to see Brooks Horn and Haslett as the faces of the franchise…and not as funny to see Deuce.

I keep thinking it would be funny to keep track of all the commentary Madden makes during the game that makes no sense based on what is going on. You would think they’d get that fixed after their first few years and billions of dollars.

I actually prefer Coleco Electric Football

I had one of these in the early 70’s. Saints and Dolphins.

You could actually adjust the players’ movements by turning a little wheel at the base. The whole table would shake, and all the players would jumble up in the middle. If we stopped the clock after every play and reset every single player, we could spend the whole rainy day in Metairie playing 60 minutes of football.

Now that was awesome!

Do you know what it means...

Electric FB

There is an annual tournament for Electric football, around Super Bowl time ,think it’s held in Las Vegas, saw it on Fox or Espn…had no idea, one participant was a big time Saints fan, all deck-out and representin’ think he won it all……..I’m 44 and I had one, every kid on the block did too…lots of fun…and memories…
