1. Never. At least, not anymore…not since I left New Orleans in 1984. Before that, I went pretty often. Back then, you could decide Sunday morning to go to the game and still be able to get tickets at a decent price.

2. You kidding? I wouldn’t touch stadium food with Dave’s lips.

3. The field. I had the chance to shoot the game between the Saints and the 49ers in…1983? I think. Not a single photo came out unblurred, but the experience was unforgettable. The pro game is unimaginably fast—even when you’ve spent your whole adult life watching it live and watching NFL Films specials, you still have no conception unless you’ve been able to watch at field level.

4. I always seemed to miss the great moments, but I was there for quite a few miserable ones. The one that stands out the most is blowing the playoffs under Bum Phillips by outplaying the Rams the whole damn afternoon, but letting them steal the game on a last-second field goal.

5. I never paid any attention to them at all.

This is OUR year!

1.) regular attendee for several years. didn’t get to attend any games last year graduated from Tulane, hope to attend a few this year maybe an away game vs panthers moving to Charleston on Aug. 1st (anyone attending shoot me a message)

*mtn you still can get tickets for 10-15 buck before game (not great seats but when you wake up hung over and head down there an hour before game time it ain’t bad, also the people up top are definitely rowdier

2.) i’m with Mtn.. food is awful, call Zara’s on way downtown or get food prior

3.) box seats

4.) whenever you make it to a game it is a great moment, fans energy is awesome

5.) i like the robot guy, seems to make it up on the tron when they play

Gettin' to knoooooow youuuuu............

Sorry, my singing is terrible.
1) 2 to 3 games a year. I would love to be there for every snap but I have two small kids and I can’t leave them behind. I take them just like my Dad took me.
2) I actually like the red beans and rice. It’s no ther best in the world but it’s good for stadium food.
3) Alot of lower level stuff nothing like you guys but anywhere in the Dome is great to me.
4) You know me, I like every play, every down of every game, win or loose.
5) Elvis is my favorite but Moses is a close second.

Who Dat?...... Drew Dat ! ! !

1-4 I've never even been to Louisiana let alone the Superdome

Although one time, I was in the bleachers at Lambeau Field and the Saints got smacked around by my grandfather’s favorite team, the Packers. It was embarrassing, they lost by like 35 points. Those were the Aaron Brooks days… so no great moments. Overall the greatest moment for me as far as excitement and jubilation was when they had that crazy lateral play in 2003 against the Jaguars as time ran out. They needed to win to make the playoffs and they had just tied it (basically) I was going absolutely crazy and then… Carney missed the extra point and we lost. I feel sad just typing it.

I think that Green Bay game

was in 2005 after the Hurricane.

If it makes you feel any better

they wouldn’t have made the playoffs, even if they had won that game. Dallas clinched the last NFC wildcard berth with a win over the Giants about five minutes prior to the TD. We managed to beat the Cowboys the following week, though neither team had anything to play for, outside our not finishing below .500.

1. How often do you attend Saints home games?
As often as they’re played.

2. What is your favorite Dome food?
Inside, BBQ pulled pork sandwich or chicken strips and freshly-squeezed lemonade. The M&M ice cream cookie sandwiches are delicious, as well. Outside, kielbasa smothered in onions on the Bud Bridge.

3. What were the best seats you’ve ever had in the Dome?
In terms of assigned seating, Sect 614, Row 1 (50 yd line terrace). The rows were numbered differently back then. We had those seats for about 10 years. I’ve snuck into better seats (lodge) too many times to count. I’ve also watched a couple of games from the club suites (swapped out for comps), but I don’t really consider that “better” than the lodge, outside of the free catering. The unauthorized worst? From the catwalks in the roof. Yes, I’ve been up there during a game. And it’s scarier than all hell.

4. What was the greatest moment you witnessed in person at the Dome (blocked punt notwithstanding)?
Hakim drops the ball. Easily. The blocked punt was electric, but might not even make my Top 5.

5. Favorite Saints fan costumed character (i.e. Moses, The Pope, Whistle Head)?
Mousey is the most entertaining, by far. Same costume every week? Probably Boba Fett. His outfit is definitely the most impressive.

by coldpizza on Jun 22, 2009 1:01 AM CDT reply actions

How often do you attend Saints home games?
Almost never – last game I attended in person was the playoff win over the Eagles

What is your favorite Dome food?
I can’t recall any I particularly enjoyed. Does Beer count as food?

What were the best seats you’ve ever had in the Dome?
I’m kind of partial to my Dad’s old season tickets (loge, corner of the endxone) for sentimental reasons, but I suppose I’d have to say my seats for the aforementioned Eagles playoff game (Plaza level, 50-yard line, about 25 rows up).

What was the greatest moment you witnessed in person at the Dome (blocked punt notwithstanding)?
I think I’d have to pick the Vikings first series in our first playoff game in 87. If my memory serves me correctly it was sack by Rickey Jackson, incmplete pass, fumble recovered by Vaughn Johnson (followed shortly by a TD pass from Hebert to Eric Martin).. The fact that we went on to get pounded does not change the fact that that’s the loudest noise I’ve ever experienced.

Favorite Saints fan costumed character (i.e. Moses, The Pope, Whistle Head)?
Moses

How often do you attend Saints home games?
Every game they played since 98. I love my season tickets

What is your favorite Dome food?
The spiced beans in the Bloody Marrys

What were the best seats you’ve ever had in the Dome?
Club level 45 yard line .

What was the greatest moment you witnessed in person at the Dome (blocked punt notwithstanding)?
Hakim dropped the ball! First ever play off win! Of course the blocked punt was special, but there are many others.

Favorite Saints fan costumed character (i.e. Moses, The Pope, Whistle Head)?
I use to like when Mousie did his routine at the end of the 3rd. Now I have to give it to Fleur-D-Licious!

1) every game since college (btw most of yall are pathetic, one thing i learned when i went away for college is that you have to live where your favorite team plays)

2) miller lite or any contraband whiskey

3) ive sat in the plaza, club, suites, even been on the field but the real experience is in the terrace with all the other maniacs

4) the punt, both playoff w’s were fun, but the san fran game in 2006 when reggie scored three td’s was a blast, never left the dome in a better mood.

5) where do i start: whistlehead, v for vendetta, the transformer, super saint, mousie, etc.

by DrewBreesManCrush on Jun 22, 2009 10:01 AM CDT reply actions

1) once a year, maybe. I live in Austin, so only when I go home to visit family.

2)Miller Lite. Dunno why, but I love those plastic bottles.

3)Tie between an Exxon suite and nosebleed.

4)A MNF game against St. Louis when, after a particularly one-sided series of penalties gainst the Saints prompted the entire endzone crowd to throw their beer bottles onto the field. I was sitting around som Rams fans from out of town who were disgusted by our city’s lack of civility, and Dennis Miller had some choice comments for the fans I heard later. Hilarious.

5) Does Benson count?

by FuSoYa on Jun 22, 2009 11:04 AM CDT reply actions

Benson

Ha! If Benson counts, then there are a lot more on the sideline who should count as well. Like QuarterBackMan…you know, that guy who wore #2 and would throw the ball backwards?

1) unfortunately only once or twice a year, when friends can spare an extra ticket if someone cant make it
2) Domino’s personal pizza – pepperoni of course
3) sideline passes – yea it was amazing
4) nothing compares to the first game back in the dome, whether you want me to list something else or not
5) elvis, but my memory always goes back to a hot chick wearing a black and gold boa that sat in front of me one game

by wchris h on Jun 22, 2009 12:56 PM CDT reply actions

1. i’ve been to one game :\. last game of the season last year. looking to get to 2 this year since i unfortunately don’t live close to la. anymore.

2. I can’t even remember what I had but it was not bad since it was stadium food. might have been domino’s small pizza.

3. 50 yard line terrace. next to the last row.

4. at that game, it was the whole 2nd half. we played great but our D blew it at the end.

5. Idk the saints characters but i would have to say that the mardi gras ppl were cool

Superbowl bound!!!...I hope? Go Saints! :D

by skinnykinney on Jun 22, 2009 3:48 PM CDT reply actions

1) Havent been to a game since my kids were born but 2-3 games a year when finances are good.
2)Dominoes pizza and cold beer.
3)Was in the Texaco booth 1 year next to Benson’s. Free booze and food.
4) Cant remeber the exact year but early 90s against 49ers, Morten kicks long FG as time expires. The place was rocking 30 minutes after the game was over. No one wanted to leave.
5)Moses.

Backgound. Im actually from Texas and came here in 80 a diehard Cowboy fan. The Cowboys fell off in the late 80s about the time the Saints took off. No internet back then so local coverage is all I got. I liked Mora and the D and going to games at the Dome. Over a little time I became a fan. Cowboys are still my team but I pull hard for the Saints.
Ive been asked how you like both teams but they are rarely good at the same time. I work in down town N.O. and when the Saints win this is a great city and everyone is happy and excited. When they lose or are rebuilding, eh not so much.
Im sure I catch some grief for this announcement but I do offer an opinion not totally based on emotion. I love football from the violence to the strategy to the fans. I have been a blogger else where for 4-5 years now and Im pretty hook it.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the goverment from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

Getting To Know You

1. How often do you attend Saints home games? Not very often- I have been to only three, and just one in the Superdome: Saints VS. Texans in 2003; Saints VS. Dolphins and Bears in Baton Rouge in 2005.

2. What is your favorite Dome food? I think it was the Hot Dogs, as it is in just about any other stadium.

3. What were the best seats you’ve ever had at the Dome? The seat I had at the one game I went to was an excellent seat! I was very close to the Saints bench so I could very easily cheer them on, and I got on the Superdome’s T.V. screens three times! -Two of those times the camera was focused on me, and another when I was in the background.

4. What was the greatest moment you witnessed in person at the Dome? On the field- seeing our Saints beat the Texans; On the sidelines- getting a kiss blown to me by one of the cheerleaders (I do remember who she was, but, she will remain anonamous.) that particular cheerleader, although no longer with the Saints, will always be my personal favorite Saintsation!

5. Favorite Saints Fan Costumed Charactor? I’d have to say Moses, i met him at one of the Saints away games, and he seems like a neat guy!

by Jimmy Star 00 on Jun 22, 2009 6:36 PM CDT reply actions

good times

1.since i’ve moved to miss. one or two a year
2.the beer
3.all ways the cheap seats.
4.it’s a tie—— the first game i attended, Tulane stadium , the 49ers, i drank 12 cokes and puked off the top of the stadium. the game ended in a tie (21-21).i got jake cupp’s autograph after the game.i was hooked for life.
also, the monday night game against the rams, when the refs got pelted with plastic beer bottles, after that bad call in the end zone. man,i got drenched. not that i condone that sort of behavior, but that is why they switched to plastic, so we could throw them…..right?
5. elvis. ahh, thank ya very much.

by r c a on Jun 22, 2009 6:51 PM CDT reply actions

5 Questions, I got answers

1) Last home game I went to was that Rams MNF game from 2001 season that a few folks already mentioned (I remember that interference call and the pelting of beer bottles, and I was outraged at first, but the group I was with – brother in law, two uncles, my Dad, and my dad’s best friend and his son – each felt after seeing the replay that it was a legit call). We tailgated (with Popeyes and Bud light) in some dark parking lot off Poydras before hauling a** into the Dome to catch the kickoff. We were 7-5 going into that game and still clinging to playoff hopes when the Rams beat us and we lost the next 3 to end the year 7-9 – ouch.

2) My fave Dome food comes from when my parents had Tulane football season tix (late 70’s early 80’s) when I was a 9-10 year old….box of popcorn, bag of peanuts (still in the shell), and a tall fountain coke in a souvenir plastic cup with the Saints and Tulane football schedules on the side. They would let me get that to munch on for every game we went to. The popcorn and half the coke would be gone by the end of the first quarter, and then I’d crack into the peanuts in the 2nd Q, and try not to drop shells/dust into my coke, but it rarely worked.

3) Best Dome seats ever were from a Breakers game I went to with my Dad when I was a kid. Somehow he scored us tickets in someone’s suite, along with sideline passes. I won the pool for the 2nd quarter, took the money and bought a big Breakers foam finger and a cap, and then we went down to the sideline to walk around, and my dad took my picture with one of the Breakers Girls. I don’t even remember who won the game.

4) Best Dome moment in person was beating the Eagles (with Randall and Reggie White and their awesome defense) on MNF in December of 1989. I didn’t think we had much chance to win, but we did and it felt great.

5) Favorite costumed crazy?? As a kid I liked Crazy George with the drum, then my next favorite that came along was Moses, and my new favorite is that crazy wild F*** the Eagles babe. But to be honest, I love them all. Elvis, Whistlehead, Transformer, Chef Who Dat, SuperSaint, etc. i love their enthusiasm, their spirit, and their dedication. Plus they look AWSOME on TV.

As a side note, can anyone create a photo gallery of all these costumed crazies??? I’d sure love to see them all in one place. Maybe we could even vote for our all-time favorite costumed crazy to go with our all-time CSC Saints line-up.

I should have hit preview

so I would have spelled AWESOME correctly.

BTW, great “get to know you” segment, Dave. And good luck, best wishes on the run-up to the wedding. It’s almost here!!! Yee-Haw!!!

And in the words of Frank Sinatra “I’m gettin’ married in the morning. Ding Dong the bells are gonna chime… We’ll have a whopper, pull out the stopper. Get me to the church, Get me to the church, for pete’s sake get me to the church…on… time….ding dong ding dong ding dong!!” (paraphrased from my memory of him singing that on Live At The Sands)

top 5

1) How often do you attend Saints home games?
  about 2/3 of game
2) What is your favorite Dome food?
  Blue Moon
3) What were the best seats you’ve ever had in the Dome?
Section 323 is only real seats ever; saw Saints beat Falcons from luxury box in around 1991 in Deion Sanders hey-day, but luxury box ain’t real seats
4) What was the greatest moment you witnessed in person at the Dome (blocked punt notwithstanding)?
I’m a newbie but aside from blocked punt which happened in my end zone, and aside from Philly playoff win, the 2006 win over Philly on field goal as time went out was awesome. Drove the ball down the field the last 8 minutes of the game, fell on the ball for three plays running the clock down, then Carney makes the kick in my end zone. Got us to 5-1 and we knew we were onto something
5) Favorite Saints fan costumed character (i.e. Moses, The Pope, Whistle Head)?
  Fleur-Di-Licious
