Around SBN: Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire Vow To Fit In With Lin

"When we look at everything we've done, and by we I mean my wife (Kristen) and myself, being able to touch the lives of so many thousands of people, it's been a great run," Houser said. "I'll think of how wonderful Mr. and Mrs. Benson have been to me, how grateful I am to management for sticking with me for nine years, how much I loved being part of the organization and how we've been able to build so many great relationships and being able to see this city bounce back after Katrina.

"There's nothing better than being able to run out on the Superdome floor on game day representing the Saints, the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana. But this is a business where you put your best foot forward on the field, and if I'm not part of that plan, then I've got to move forward."

Damn,

I thought Thomas Morestead was going to be the inexplicably stupid sounding Saints offseason transaction this year…

Good luck, Kevin. Now go never screw your job up for some other team.

Houser SUCKS!!!1

He was always giving up leverage to defenders on PAT attempts and his snaps were often mistimed. Not off the mark mind you, just the improper number of rotations. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard placeholders scream “Laces OUT, Kevin!” in practice. He also couldn’t keep his grubby paws off the Krispy Kremes. At times, he reminded me of a less immovable, slightly more Caucasian version of Jonathan Sullivan. Only Sullivan showed excellent foot-to-peddle coordination on the stationary bike. Houser? Not so much. How appropriate that he was released between June 23 and July 22, as he truly was a Cancer on this team.

I'd REALLY like to hear you expand on those comments

I’ve never heard the slightest hint that Houser was anything other than a reliable member of the team (how did he last nine years?). Granted, I don’t live in New Orleans and go to all the games, so I’m perfectly placed to miss out on a lot; but I haven’t seen it mentioned in the media.

My first reaction was to think, here we go again with the special teams tinkering. This could be the 2009 equivalent of letting John Carney go. But what you write makes me think maybe I need to know more.

This is OUR year!

LMAO

That entire post was tongue-in-cheek. It’s just the typical BS you hear every time the Saints part ways with someone. They were either “vastly” overrated, wore out their welcome, “couldn’t stay healthy” (one of my all-time favorites), could only run certain routes, lacked “heart”, “leadership” or “work ethic”, were undisciplined, didn’t carry their weight, smiled after they threw interceptions (gasp!), were a “locker room distraction” or a “team cancer”, etc. Even in cases where there’s the slightest bit of truth to what’s being said, it NEVER comes to a rumbling head until they’re gone. I’ve seen this phenomenon play out so many times over the years, that I’ve become immune — no, make that numb — to the ignorance being spouted. Just figured I’d have a little fun with it, since Houser was the furthest thing from a team problem that I can possibly fathom.

I think we really need that sarcasm font

I’m a connoiseur of irony, and that eluded even me. I think that rather than being numb to comments of this kind, I’ve come to expect them…say that Drew Brees is a liability to the offense and is shredding team unity, and I’m liable to think you’re serious. Nuts, but serious.

This is OUR year!

Another team will grab him very soon

I expect Rotoworld will be reporting on his signing with a new team any day now. This makes no sense. Now that it looks like Payton’s last special teams tinkering mistake may now finally be fixed with Garrett Hartley, he has to go and do this. I’ll bet Houser probably questioned a Payton decision in the locker room and got canned because of it.

Go Saints!!!! Deuce may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.
