Bears Player Preview: Josh Bullocks
When the Bears signed Bullocks this is what one New Orleans Saints fan had to say about it:
"I hope Bears fans don’t have any expectations for Bullocks to start (they likely do). As a Saints season ticker holder, I can almost guarantee the Saints have the worst starting safeties in the league… and Bullocks COULDNT EVEN START FOR US. He’s late to reads, miss-times jumps, has terrible hands, doesn’t tackle well and he’s slow. Other than that, he’s a fine player…Goodluck."

My wish...
is that he looks great for them in training camp to the point where the Bears and their arrogant fans think, "Wow! This guy is good! Why did those idiot “Aints” let him slip away?" I hope he becomes a starter. But, during the waning minutes of any important game for them, I hope he gets burned for a game-losing TD or two. That’s basically what he did for us.
I feel like we’ve managed to plant a deadly weed in their vegetable garden that will sooner or later destroy the growth of any 2009 playoff hopes for them, and I couldn’t be happier about it. Is that wrong of me? Does that make me a bad guy? Nahhhh, of course not. Rationalization can sometimes be a good thing.
Go Saints!!!! Deuce may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.

I feel we owe them
They helped keep us out of the playoffs the last few years. Even if it’s indirect, why can’t we help them out by doing the same?

Actually, I hope the Bears have a great season
…so we can meet for the NFC Championship in the Dome. And Drew can personally toast Bullocks for three TDs. And Fox can cut away to the stands to show people in black t-shirts with the legend, “F*** Da Bears!”
New Orleans 45, Chicago 3. Better than all the beignets in the world.
This is OUR year!

Yeah! I really like that revenge scenario!
And Fox can cut away to the stands to show people in black t-shirts with the legend, "F*** Da Bears!"
Ha! That was an awesome moment. Here she is again.

I just realized...
when we visit Philadelphia in week 2, there’s probably gonna be more than a few people wearing “F*** Da Saints!” T-shirts. But, I doubt they’ll be looking hot enough for FOX to put them on TV and maybe have to pay a FCC fine. Besides, imitation is never as good as the original.

Hell-bent on revenge!
I think we’ve all come to hate the Bears more than the Vikings, Lions, and Packers fans combined.

well, i understand and agree
except where the writer says we have the worst starting safeties in the league. I think Harper and Sharper are good safeties. i won’t comment on Bullocks – I think our old Dc brought out the worst in all, but I like Harper and Sharper and I am glad Bullocks and KK have been replaced

Worst safeties
I think whoever said that about our safeties said it immediately after Bullocks became a Bear, which was before we upgraded the secondary with Greer, Sharper, and Jenkins. Kaesviharn was still a Saint at that time, so I’d be inclined to agree with him.

They just moved Bullocks to strong safety
4 Josh Bullocks is the team’s most experienced safety and means business.
Don’t assume Bullocks was switched quietly to strong safety from the free safety spot he has primarily played during his first four NFL seasons simply to supply depth. The way Bullocks sees it, he is there to challenge returning starter Kevin Payne — who’s a big hitter but still could improve his feel for the game.
“Me learning strong safety is actually going to pay big dividends for me in the long run,” Bullocks said.
As the Bears search for the right safety combination among Craig Steltz, Corey Graham, Payne and Bullocks, Bullocks’ 49 NFL starts can’t be overlooked.
That first line really cracks me up. What business is he referring to? The “F@#k Your Team Up” business?

They misquoted Bullocks
What he really said was, "Me learning strong safety is actually going to pay big dividends for me in the long run."
Unfortunately, it’s the short run he has to worry about. As in, being cut in July.
