MMQB
Usually, we rip on Peter King for not really giving the Saints the respect they deserve, or for having his head so far up his own rear end that he can see his own food as he swallows it just getting things plain wrong.
Check out what he says about Malcolm Jenkins in this week's MMQB though:
I think there's a good reason why the Saints fell in love with Ohio State cornerback Malcolm Jenkins and drafted him 14th overall in April. He's obviously got a good football IQ. But his love of the game is something Sean Payton, GM Mickey Loomis and the football staff considered a major factor. And this past week, he showed his eagerness. He finished all his Ohio State coursework a week early (Ohio State has three terms, not two, and thus school in Columbus runs into June), pulling an all-nighter before his last final exam Friday, and flew to New Orleans late Friday so he could report for the last two days of Saints' minicamp this weekend.

Yes, BUT...
And it’s a big “but”: he also trashed Jeremy Shockey. Out of ignorance.
I don’t think Jeremy Shockey is out of the woods in New Orleans. Not at all. He wasn’t working with the first team in this weekend’s full-squad minicamp, in the wake of his May 24 removal from a Vegas hotel for "dehydration.’’
In the same session, Usama Young and Pierson Prioleau worked with the first team ahead of Sharper and Harper. Tracy Porter and Jabari Greer flip-flopped at corner, spending some time with the first team and some with the other units. According to our own Saintsational, Colston, Meachem, Henderson, Moore, and Arrington all played some time with the first team—which means they also played some time with the other teams, as well. It’s June—does any of this mean anything?
I would bet King’s “observation” comes from reading a single sentence from Nola.com’s coverage of Saturday’s practice:
Don’t know what to make of this. Tight end Jeremy Shockey was working with the third-team offense for both practices.
I don’t really care if King likes the Saints or not. I just hate when he or any other sportswriter poses as some sort of god of knowledge when all they’ve done is skim coverage from 32 teams. Unless you’re Dallas or New England, chances are national coverage of your team is going to be inept and shallow.

I think I agree… but still, he got something right. That’s better than nothing right, isn’t it?

I did think that this quote he put up from Brees was interesting
I asked Drew Brees if he was worried about Shockey. He paused for a few seconds, then said, "Oh boy … I’m not worried about him. I don’t care who you are, here I feel like we can win without him, just like I feel we can win without Reggie Bush or Marques Colston. If he fits in, I’d love to have him.’’
Different, isn’t it, than last year, when Shockey came to camp as the quasi-second coming, and the Saints thought he’d be the most productive tight end in the league, and he finished with 50 catches, a pedestrian 9.7 yards per catch and zero touchdowns. Zero. His practice habits and route discipline weren’t great, and now the Saints appear to be saying, Whatever we get from the guy is a bonus. We can’t count on him to play a full schedule.
Sounds like Mr. Brees has been drinking up some of the cautious optimism that’s always on tap here at CSC…
