Which division has the best? Part 3: NFC South
Ok, I will be making a all star team form each division. Starters and Backups. Based on comments I might tweak the teams a little. After the teams are finished we will vote the best through the worst. Each week we vote which all star team gets booted when they get booted. The team with the most votes each week played the team with the least. Then the second most vs the second least and etc. Then we vote off who would has the least chance. Here's NFC South!

isn’t even the saints best cb. porter won a starting job last year across from mike mckenzie as a rookie. we just brought in jabrari greer and drafted malcom jenkins. i’d put porter on for houston and greer/jenkins on for gay. porter i think should make the starters positions instead of gamble. Porter was consistent and played very well untill he got hurt in week 5.
Superbowl bound!!!...I hope? Go Saints! :D

I'm not
a big Jammal Brown fan, but I still don’t see how you can start Donald Penn over him. Disagree on Porter over Gamble. Talib’s the more replaceable starter and even that I couldn’t condone just yet. Richard Marshall deserves just as much consideration as Porter, imo. Anyone familiar with ROODY White and JULIAN Peppers? Heh. Pretty good list overall.

Why in the world did you make a 3-4 defense for this division when not one team in it plays the 3-4?
You need to revise this to a 4-3. Some of the players you picked would be OK in the 3-4 but there are some people out there you ignored who would almost certainly be better if this fantasy team stayed in a 3-4. But all three teams are built around the 4-3 concept and while most of the players you picked could play the 3-4 few of them would play as well (and/or would have to shift positions, DE to LB for example).

He didn't make it a 3-4
He has two DTs and two MLBs listed. That gives it the flexibility to go either way, same as our All-Time Saints team. As far as your statement that not one team in the division plays the 3-4, that also isn’t true. The Saints will be playing both the 3-4 and the 4-3 (several variations of each), plus more under Gregg Williams this upcoming season.

I don't know about that pizza
I know they were screwing around with a 3-4 during minicamp but you really think they are going to operate out of a 3-4 even slightly?

saying we do run a 3-4
who is the NT now that big number 99 is gone? also I could easily see McCray playing as a LB in a 3-4 scheme (obviously w/ him rushing)

According to Williams
in his WWL interview on draft day, they’ll have no set base formation. He was specifically asked whether or not they’d stick to the 4-3 primarily and said that it would differ based on down and distance. Then he added that even that wasn’t going to relegate them a specific set. That there would be 4 to 5 formations used in a 3rd and 8 situation, for example. The only thing he was specific about was the total number of defensive sets: 26. Beyond that, I don’t think many people outside of the organization can possibly know what to expect. There may very well be more than 26, judging from the shroud of secrecy he seemed to be operating under. Guess we’ll see. As far as who will fit where in what formations, I have no idea. We don’t even have a final roster in place yet, so it would be pretty pointless to speculate that.

OK, but he listed it as “DT” not “DTs” as he did in some of his other similar posts… I noticed the two MLBs, scrolled up and saw “DT” and thought he created a 3-4. Was just a typo.
But Saintsational is right… they worked on the 3-4 in minicamp but that doesn’t mean in any way shape or form that they will actually run it during the season. Even less so does it mean that they would run it primarily.
And nobody else does either (yet at least).

also i think this team has beem picked upon career stats... not actual team chemistry, complimentary players or future potential

How about coaches?
Head: Fox, OC: Payton, DC: Smith
Glad you unbiasedly mentioned all the Panthers that deserve it. Not sure about Kemoeatu or Wharton, definitely Hoooover should be on there. Panthers are the only team that still value that position.

Mc Cray
I think Mc Cray should be ranked higher than Grant (and probably Smith and Spicer) if we are talking recent rankings. What have Grant and Smith dome for us lately? Spicer I don’t really know how to rank. Also, the Greer for Gay switch might make sense- I don’t anticipate Gay being a starter but a guy that will play a lot.
