CSC All-Time Saints Team Election: Wide Receiver No. 2

It's time now to vote for another member to be elected to our CSC All-Time Saints team. If you missed our second wide receiver nomination post yesterday you can catch it right here.

Coldpizza had a few other notable wide receivers but I figured we have enough on the list and none of them really have a chance of getting elected so we'll stick with what we've got. The polls will be open for exactly 48 hours which means they will close at 6am on Saturday, July 4th. You only get one vote so make it count. You can make a difference. If you've never voted in a CSC poll to date, now is the perfect time to start. Be sure to tell everyone you know to come on over and vote as well.

As always, the comment section is open for more discussion about these great players and the way things used to be.

Voting for Colston

over Abramowicz is comparable to voting for Reggie Wayne over Raymond Berry. Being that most of you are probably either thinking “who’s Raymond Berry?” or “um, hello? … Wayne IS better than Berry!” I’ll chalk that up as expected.

Agreed

Even though Reggie Wayne played for John Ehret. But voting for Eric Martin over Abramowicz isn’t silly, no matter how painful it was. Other than average YPC, Martin owns all the numbers…plus he played here longer than Danny did. He didn’t mean as much to the city because he played on some good teams, while Danny was sometimes the only hero we had. But I still have to say, I honestly think Martin was the better player. If we add a slot receiver, though, Danny’s got to be voted in—because he comes from that era when going across the middle was a real act of courage.

I don’t know what to say about the Stallworth vote. That must be Saintsational messing with us.

I personally think

that Abramowicz was the better player compared to his NFL peers, which is really the only way you should ever judge players. I won’t be upset if Martin wins out, though. It’s at least understandable, considering the records he holds/has held, as well as the success of the team while he was here.

I’d also like to point out that Abramowicz was the 420th overall pick in the 1967 draft. Consider that when you marvel at the odds of a 252nd overall pick making the roster.

I attended Ehret in 1981-82, the year they won state. Little before Wayne’s time, though I did get to witness that incredible 46-45 game against West Jefferson at Hoss Memtsas. Garry James, Tyrone Vaughn, Norman Jefferson … man, that seems like a lifetime ago.

Were you at the state championship game?

The way the Saints lost to Philadelphia in the playoffs in 1993 reminded me of that game. Covington hung in there for three quarters, and then Ehret just overpowered them.

Sure was

Vincent Alexander had a pretty good game, from what I remember. Wonder whatever happened to that guy. I think he went to Southern Miss, but never really heard anything after that. I went to all the playoff games that year, including the road trip to Neville.

Alexander was a strike player for the Saints

He scored a touchdown against the Rams in his only pro game.

Jefferson was Mr. Irrelevant, wasn’t he? I also seem to recall he had an interception against Covington, but my memory is hazy.

Yeah

Jefferson was taken last by the Packers. I don’t recall the Alexander stint/TD at all, but I don’t doubt it. Plenty of scraps & scabs on those replacement teams.

Damn

how can Colston be that close?! He doesn’t even have a career to laud yet!

This leaderboard deserves a soundtrack

It’s a boring day – I’ve got nothing to do
Except to get a load of retards and drive ’em to the zoo

Oh oh oh takin’ retards to the zoo
Oh oh oh takin’ retards to the zoo

Load ’em on a bus just for laughs
Down a winding road stepping on the gas
Down a winding road just daydreaming
Down a winding road with the retards screaming

Oh oh oh takin’ retards to the zoo
Oh oh oh takin’ retards to the zoo

One of them blowing a big spit bubble
Slam on the brakes at the first sign of trouble
Head on collision bodies everywhere
Head on collision retards beware

Oh oh oh takin’ retards to the zoo

who voted for quinn?

unreal. That guy was disappointing.

Probably

people who were thinking “best WR2” as in … “not the go-to guy”. Although, even under that interpretation, you would flat out have to hate Stallworth to vote for Early.
