Vick to Eagles
Well to all the people wondering what happened to Michael VIck. as of 8:30 PM EST he is a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. The same Eagles that the Saints are playing week 2 ... the only thing good about this is that hopefully he will not be incorporated into the offense by this point. This was a tough game to begin with, now the W seems a little further away.
Should the Saints make the playoffs it is likely that we will face the Eagles at some point. I am a little troubled and wish that he went to the AFC, but no we will be seeing MV at least for the next two years. (length of his and *Mcnabb's* contracts, foreshadowing?)
I wish we took him just to keep him off of other teams. I will reserve my further comments and hope they never are needed!

He'll still be serving
his suspension in Week 2, but you’re right. I definitely hope we don’t wind up crossing his path in the playoffs.

as an eagles fan living in the philly area...
this is the greatest thing ever. eagles fans are so mad and ready to jump off the walt whitman bridge. my dad who is a huge birds fan threatened to kill me if i wasn’t lying when i called to break the news to him…i love this!
for those that are worried about vick being with the eagles, don’t worry. now they have 2 qbs who can’t accurately throw a football

wow
Mcnabb is not a true or real QB? (also if you say that he did not play well in the beginning of last year remember what he did after they benched him…. now bring in a three time pro-bowl QB… do you think he is gonna play well? Don’t answer that we know he will)
Vick will give them options, I believe that he is eligible to play the other positions, so it just gives them another threat.

sense when did McNabb become a bad passer?!!
I’d hate to play for the Eagles above all teams. They have the worst fans ever!!!! No loyalty whatsoever…no offense.
Don't worry I got your back cuz...

I wholeheartedly disagree with the "worst" part
They’re some of the most passionate fans in the league. Fairweather, yes. But you get that in every city, New Orleans included. The Superdome was a ghost town through much of 1980. The Baton Rouge games were a joke, in terms of attendance. The Philadelphia faithful DO come across as extremely brash and I think that’s where much of their bad rep comes from. Though, I think that’s more the demeanor of that entire city, not just Eagles fans.
As far as offensive production goes, they’ve been the 10th best scoring team and 12th best yardage team overall on average, since McNabb was drafted. That’s really not that bad at all. By comparison, the Saints have been 6th in scoring and 2nd in yardage since Brees took over. Probably not the fairest of comparisons, being that it’s only one third the amount of time. Still, certainly nothing to sneeze at by either team.

have you ever watched an eagles game???
Sure McNabb has a strong arm, but the knock against him, as it should be is that he is not an accurate passer. do yourself a favor and go back and watch the 3rd and 4th down plays that ended the eagles season last year. on 3rd down hank baskett is wide open running a dig across the middle of the field and mcnabb delivered it right into the ground in front of him. next play was not as bad, but his shot to kevin curtis certainly was not a very good one. if he was accurate, it would have been a pennsylvania super bowl last year.

I watch every Eagles game because I am a true Eagles hater
McNabb is an excellent QB, but not an exceptionally accurate passer. He throws a number of balls into the turf, more than probably any QB. This is why there is always a large contingent of people booing him every game. A good # of fans up here want to replace him and Reid as they think the Eagles will never win the SB with them. I tend to agree.
As far as the fans go, I can tell you from first hand experience, they are the worst in the league. If you had a 12 year old son and he wore a Saints jersey to a game at the Link, they would throw beer on hm and cuss him out. I got into an altercation and called a guy out who pussed out on me – it was about 5-6 years ago in the Link and I was standing in line for beer and a stranger in front of me turns areound and says “I’m starting to get a little worried now.” I had nothing on indicating I was a fan of either team. I said “well Deuce had about 120 yards and it’s only the 3rd quarter” He says to me “are you a Saints fan?” And I said “yes.” He says “you’re a j.o.” And I said well you are a pussy" And he says You’re a fat f**K" and I said, I don’t think you heard me correctly. I called you a pussy and you have 60,000 fans that will back you up so show me what you got……and I wasn’t sure if I was going to get stomped and mugged by the crowd that was watching or a standing ovation. This guy just whimpered away.
I said to him “that’s what I thought you would do.” Stinking coward.
The Eagles fans threw snowballs at Santa, they booed when Mc Nabb was selected in the draft and have treated him like shit ever since, They booed and heckled Michael Irvin when he was seriously hurt and had to be taken off the field in on a stretcher. They constantly chant for Kevin Kolb when Mc Nabb has a bad series (Kevin Kolb, who the hell is Kevin Kolb for them to rally around- what has he done?). In the old stadium they had to gave a judge and a court in the basement. No, my friends, take it from me – first hand knowledge, they are crude, nasty, low class and they take pride in it. If any of you go to the game inSept and wear a jeresey or hat, I would like to hear about your experiences afterwards.
And for the record, the talk on the Sports shows before Vick was signed was that he is an inhuman type of individual that should still be in jail and no NFL team should show an interest, so it shoulod be interesting!!!

Ah
I didn’t really think we were talking about cordiality. I guess if that’s what you’re basing “worst” on, then yeah, they’re definitely right up there. In terms of loyalty and passion, though, I don’t think too many teams can boast a better fan base.

in fairness to philly fans
you can’t lump everybody in with that type of fan that whimpered away from you. i hate the eagles, but am a phillies fan. i yell and cheer and boo when guys suck, but i don’t yell anything derrogatory and aren’t one of the a-holes that want to fight a cubs fan when they’re in town just because they’re a cub fan. that is the thing that pisses me off about it, is everyone is lumped together. there are a good number of j.o’s as you said, but not everybody is. and i don’t know the exact santa claus story but that is overblown – santa was played by a drunk 19 year old pulled from the stands, or something

There are many good Phila fans
And I too am a Phillies fan. But too many Philadelphia fans behave poorly and something should be done. There was a murder, as you must be aware of, after a Phillies game 2 weeks ago. The Phillies fans booed the starting pitcher OPENING DAY after they just had won THE WORLD SERIES. There are multiple fights in the stands and other inappropriate behavior when the METS fans are in town (They are just as bad as Phila fans although they have lost their passion lately).
The Eagles situation is worse. Dads can’t take their sons to games if their young sons are Raiders or Ravens or Redskins fans, etc. They get yelled at, the bathrooms are hostile, people from sections above will throw stuuf at a fan from another team. This stuff is not rare and far and few between, it is rampant. So, I agree that not everyone is a bad, rowdy fan, but the problem is there are too many of them and they take pride that they “help” their home team by keeping opposing fans away. And very little is done about it because k-chinga,k-chinga the money is rolling in. Some of the opposing PLAYERS tell their RELATIVES to stay home and watch the game on TV as it is too risky for them to be at the stadium. That’s wrong.

I definitely agree
that the Eagles situation is worse. As for booing Brett Myers after they won the world series, what can I say? Last year was last year. Also, the beating death would have had nothing to do with the Phillies except for the fact that the guys were at a bachelor party at mcfadden’s, adjacent to the ball park. again, the eagles fans are the worst and is part of the reason the saints are my favorite team even though i watch every eagle game

I was going to ask you how it came to be that you are a Phillies fan but not an Eagles fan
as is with me. Is there more than the fan thing?? What area do you live in?

I have a friend
that lives in Philly. He’s still an Eagles fan, but he refuses to go to games, because of how much the fans razz on McNabb. He’s said that much of it seems race related — based on overhead comments, things shouted, etc — and it often pushed him to the point of confrontation (he’s white). Having supported Aaron Brooks through a lot of the unwarranted hatred here, I kind of know where he’s coming from. Just real glad I no longer have to deal with that.

I consider myself a good Eagles fan :P
I first started paying attention to football a few years before TO got to Philly since then I’ve seen them to the Super Bowl, and somehow survived the Mike McMahon disaster lol. Yes there are plenty of fair-weather teams, but not more than any other team. Vick should help us in different roles and he’s no threat to Donovan’s job. Sounds like a good move to me.
BTW anybody heard anything from Mike McMahon since his short stint with the Vikings?
Also I went to the Panthers training camp Last Friday, anybody want a small write up on it?

Only the parts where they bumble and fumble and cry about their futures in the NFC South. And that they didn’t get Vick because that was their only hope for 2009. Del Homme will be hung and burned in effigy by December.
And I'll probably feel a whole lot better
When you're gone.

Well out of 4 QBs
Delhomme looked the worst, it was his usual mistakes. Throwing intro triple coverage, twice into quadruple coverage, not setting his feet when he had plenty of time etc….Undrafted QB Hunter Cantwell looks nice though, which means the coaching staff will probably cut him because they don’t like taking time to work with young qbs
