8-16-09 and I'm Planning My Trip to Miami for Super Bowl XLIV

Alright, I got your attention and, YES, I serious. I have heard it said and I .....may..... have said it myself but here goes, "This is the year that the Saints go all the way." And there are reason that I'm declaring this now. There are obviously reasons that we haven't made it there so far. But, most importantly is to get your mind right and get on board while there is still room. The bus will only hold so many, so get your in the pot.

Star-divide

Now, I'm not going through every player and every coach and every scheme to explain why all the stars are aligned this year. What I will do is hit a couple of the high spots and then let some of our own (coldpizza, this means you) to turn over every rock and hunt in the dark to find the flaws in our team and explain why I have lost my mind and why I'm wasting my time by even bringing this up.

First of all, it's time. I know, that sounds stupid. But, the Saints have had the rebuilding years, we've had the years with young inexperienced quarterbacks. We've had the years when management sold us down the river because they knew we would fill the Dome, no matter what. We've had the years when the draft just bit us in the butt. (ala Ricky Williams) We've had the years with terrible coaches. We've had the years when injuries were the only thing to talk about. NOW, is our time. I don't mean "This could be our year." NO, I mean this is it. NOW. This year.

Secondly, we finally have the personnel. We, literally, have the best quarterback in the National Football League. When have we ever been able to say that we have the best, at the most important position, in the entire leauge? That's something that 31 other teams would love to say. And because we have the right personnel around him (Colston, Moore, Henderson, Shockey, Thomas, Bush and many more) we can also say that we have the best offense in the National Football League. #1, not #3, freaking #1. When have we ever been able to say that? An yes, we finally have a defense. We have personnel that other teams actually recognize their names. We have a hard hitting safety in Darren Sharper. We have defensive ends, that with our new defensive coordinator, can rush the passer, which will finally help out our corners.

Finally, and most importantly, our division is weak. Tampa is rebuilding in a BIG way. Their quarterback is freaking Byron Leftwich. I bought insurance from him last year. What is he doing as one of the 32 starting quarterback in the NFL. WOW. Atlanta and Carolina are both stronger than Tampa but neither can put together a team that can beat us this year. They both have a few star players but neither is the total package.

So, I'm planning my trip to Miami NOW. I'm not cautiously optimistic, in fact, everytime I read those words on CSC  I throw up in my mouth just a little. What does it hurt to be completely sold out, balls to the wall certain that this is the year that I believe!!!? I'll answer that for you. I doesn't hurt a thing. In fact, it just lets the celebrating start now. You can wait until we have won the final game if you want, but I'm starting now.

Now that I have gotten all of you on board,LOL, let's figure out a way all of us can charter a bus to Miami, get a group rate at a great hotel, and buy tickets for the Saints first Superbowl.

I'm open for ideas and suggestions on planning this trip. Be sure to check this out.

It's not that I don't WANT to get excited

It’s just part of my grand scheme in order to be able to afford tickets to the Super Bowl. See, while you’re going bonkers during our season opening victory over the Lions, I’ll be strategically saving my voice for my post-game 976 phone sex line. Let’s face it, no self-respecting Southern belle is going to want to get it on with a hoarse Who Dat. Acute laryngitis is sooo 2002. The naughty time money I rack up after hours by playing it low key in the Dome will more than pay for my airfare, hotel rental and ticket to the game.

My trash talk needs some work. I’m in 5 leagues and I’m having trouble keeping ’em straight.

I hate caution

We only get one life to live, so why not be so overly optimistic thta it makes you want to cry! Is this our year? YES! Did I say this last year? NO. Last year, we hit the injury bug. Hopefully, that will go away and everyone will play the way we know they can. Even with a few injuries, we have the depth to cover those for at least a few games and in some areas, possibly a full season. Yes, that does include QBs. I want Brees to be out there but I’m confident in our backups being able to come in and play 2-4 games and win at least 2 of those 4. Then Drew gets back and it’s all back to normal. Hope they start Jenkins opposite of Porter. I thought it was fitting that in the new madden 10 game, my first defensive play was a pick by Jenkins that he took back to the house for 6. I’m telling you, it’s a sign to let me know my high hopes for him are well founded! Balls to the wall optimism is what we need mroe of!! I’m an excited WHO DAT fan!! Are you?

Superbowl bound!!!...I hope? Go Saints! :D
