Jeff Duncan's vague media proposal
"To all Saints tweet followers: Trying to gauge interest in a local weekly tweetup/Saints forum w/live media roundtable. What do you think? Times-Pic would host. It'd be on either Mon/Tues night at a local spot. We'd have guests, local media, Saints officials, etc. Any interest? Q&A from audience with the roundtable on Saints. We'd record it for nola.com. If it gets popular maybe we can take it on the road for away games. Maybe...

A live T-P Saints mailbag via twitter?
Q&A from the live audience? Or from tweets? Jeff Duncan reading his blackberry into a microphone in a noisy crowded bar, in front of an audience and Brian Allee-Walsh-Dreyfus two finger tapping tweet responses into his phone? I’m in!
A worried man with a worried mind
It isn't bad enough
when local TV and radio personalities pawn themselves off as celebrities. Now the print media has to find a way to get into the act. “Hello, I get paid to type for a living. This makes my opinion inherently more valuable than yours. Feel free to ask me what I think.”
“I’m blah-blah-blah reporting from blah-blah-blah …” Jesus H. Tapdancing Christ, no one cares who you are or what floor of the hotel you’re doing your little Sesame Street newsflash from. Do us all a favor and cut to the chase. If you’re not a player, your name is superfluous information. If it’s your job to summarize a training camp practice, do not feel the need to go above and beyond. Report exactly what you saw. Do not interject your predictions or opinions. Do not spin player suspensions into “just what the doctor ordered”.
Seriously, this whole thing is just getting way out of hand.

yeah but the alternative
may be just poor reporting and a lack of interest

Poor reporting = fired reporter. Lack of interest = watch/listen to something else. I think far too much emphasis is put on the entertainment value of news. News wasn’t meant to be entertaining. It was meant to be informative in an objective manner. That’s basically lost in this day and age and I think a lot of that has to do with ratings, first and foremost, but also the celebrity mentality of those delivering the news. Obviously, there were always names involved, but when did you ever see Walter Cronkite break the fourth wall and offer his “take” on news article? It didn’t happen. The information speculation age has seemingly turned Time magazine into People magazine. And even that’s slowly inching towards omg.yahoo.com. At least Wikipedia debates the neutrality of their articles and so forth. What keeps the media in check? Nothing. It’s a free spin, be it the news, sports, what have you. Don’t get me wrong, I can dig spoken or written commentary, when clearly labeled as such and set apart from the actual NEWS news. Remember Phil Johnson? Nothing but respect for the man. Remember his son, Kaare? Cool dude, but never knew where to draw that line. And believe me, there have been plenty of Kaare Johnsons since. All I’m saying is, there’s nothing wrong with forming and/or expressing your own opinions, but to constantly mix the two is driving people further away from doing just that. It’s a form of brainwashing, really. I guess some people are into that. I’ve just never been one of them.
