"Mickey's a tough, shrewd negotiator, and I respect that,'' Dogra said. "He's trying to do what's best for the Saints and we're trying to do what's best for our client.''

This deal will get done today
“We’re not that far apart in terms of money,‘’ Loomis said Saturday. "We just have a fundamental difference of opinion when it comes to how we reach the final numbers. We know it’s going to be a five-year deal. We know it’s going to fall somewhere between Orakpo and Cushing. We both know that. But it’s not as simple as splitting the difference.’’
It seems they agree pretty much on money and contract lenght. Even if there are still some glitches about the structure of the the deal, I don’t think it will be enough for Loomis to hold out any longer without looing like a fool. I just hope Mickey isn’t using those negociations to send a message to Dogra in regard of the up coming Brees’ contract extension.
Geaux Jenkins!
Just get the D going!
"But it’s not as simple as splitting the difference."
Nor should it be. Has there been any talk whatsoever of Orakpo or Cushing playing two positions? Orakpo may wind up being used like Terrell Suggs at OLB occasionally, but when you factor in punt return potential, etc., I seriously doubt either will bring as much to the table as Jenkins. Even if he’s paid the same money the ‘Skins gave Orakpo on the high end, I’d have to think the Saints got themselves a bargain.
