If they've re-signed Roby

…that means they’ve cut someone. Who?

Had to figure

this was coming, with Bell’s emergence on offense. Roby and Meachem should pair well on KRs.

I agree

Ortega has been dropped and picked up more times than Nadya Suleman’s breast pump.

Pat Y reports:
# The Saints just announced they have signed receiver/return man Courtney Roby, who they released before the season. To clear room for Roby, the Saints waived tight end Buck Ortega.
# The Saints also tinkered with their practice squad, signing tight end Tyler Lorenzen and releasing wide receiver Matt Simon.

Never heard of the last two guys.

Flip that roster

Okay, sign a WR and cut a TE. Sign a TE to practice squad and release a WR from there.

Question: Did they sign Lorenzen to the practice squad because Ortega didn’t qualify, or do they think he’s better ? And is he “The Round Mound of Touchdown” Fred Lorenzen’s brother?

by WhoDat_OH on Sep 15, 2009 8:20 PM CDT via mobile up reply actions

Fred = Jared. And no, they’re not related. Tyler was a QB at UConn, though. He’s also been tried at WR, OLB and SS. Sounds like a slower version of Matt Jones.

From the Saints site:
New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Tuesday that the club has agreed to terms with free agent wide receiver Courtney Roby and waived tight end Buck Ortega……

It's beginning to look like...

Smith and Grant will be allowed to play this weekend. Surely they would have alerted the team by now wouldn’t they? I know, I know. Goodell is a d-bag who likes making people sweat and don’t call you Shirley, right? He needs to stop jerking everyone around and allow all players involved to play out the season.

Just posted a fanpost

from NFL.com— suspensions on hold until the Vikings’ situation is resolved. How absurd. I just wish Grant would actually start playing while he’s on the field instead of acting like he’s serving a suspension during the games…

So maybe Meachem's done with KO returns?

Anyone think Roby might try returning punts, too?

So is this

a strong indication that either A) Thomas will not soon be 100%, or B) Bell is officially RB1 or “1a”?

by FuSoYa on Sep 15, 2009 11:37 PM CDT reply actions

Exactly

I was just about to say that. Seems pretty apparent that #1 is now Bell’s to lose.

It will be Meacham and Roby back returning kicks, and I don’t see Bush losing punt return duties yet.

I honestly think Bell is a better runner than PT anyway.

I have it - just in from my NFL sources

Goodell and Grant came to an agreement last year that Grant would not be suspended as long as he does not register a sack!! Now that explains everything!
