Usama Young Arrested
Doesn't look too serious, but parking in a handicap spot? For shame, Usama

Not smart
Parking in a handicap spot and not attending your court date back in March is pretty stupid. It was only a matter of time before it bit him in the butt. He should have known that. But, the “flight from an officer” charge seems pretty effed-up to me. So what if he drove a half mile before pulling over? It’s a half mile! 2,640 feet! How is that flight from an officer? Did he speed up? Sometimes a person at 3:00 AM needs a little time to recognize what’s going on.

… or ditch the contraband.
Hey maybe Usama can do a commercial, a public service announcement about where not to park.
Don't you know it's going to be all right? All right. All right.

Watch out....
for another Roger Goodell suspension to come down the line. We don’t need to also start losing defensive backs. We’ve got too many players missing the first part of the season as is. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets suspended a game or two for this very stupid mistake. This blows!

i don't think it's that serious
it’s a speeding ticket and a stupid resisting arrest because he didn’t pull over immediately. Maybe, the side of the road was small or he felt they might get hit. He did park in a handicap spot though but i dont’ think he’ll take it that serious. Lots of ppl park in handicap spots w/out really being handicap. I personally hate seeing it but it’s not like he should be suspended for it.
Superbowl bound!!!...I hope? Go Saints! :D

Maybe he can retroactively get
authorization to use the handicap parking space, what with the sprained shoulder and all?

Damn Man : (
Louisiana law describes flight from an officer as any motorist, after having been given audible and visual warnings (i.e. lights and sirens) from an officer, who intentionally refuses to immediately bring the vehicle to a stop thereafter. Technically he committed the offense but if he was cooperative after he stopped, discretion in my opinion could have been used (a half a mile is relatively not that far of a distance). Parking in a handicap space, no I think that’s just crappy. And furthermore, not appearing in court for said charge, inexcusable. I like Usama; he signed my son’s football before a game. But now I care a little less for the guy. Bad Judgment totally.

Rotoworld clueless on this one
Saints S Usama Young was arrested Monday for multiple traffic violations, including reckless operation of a motor vehicle and flight from an officer using a motor vehicle.
We hope he had fun, because cuts are days away and he moved from corner to safety in the offseason, which is never a great sign. Young was pulled over at 3:14AM, so he’s probably lucky he wasn’t charged with being intoxicated.
He’s not getting cut. He’s handled the transition to FS very well and could possibly win the starting job if Sharper starts showing his age. We need this guy, especially with Chip Vaughn injured and a mostly non-participant in training camp.

appearently they didn't see the superbowl commercial...
half a mile at…lets say 40 mph=50 seconds, so he probably had around a solid 60 seconds from the time the lights went on until he pulled over. If he started at 55mph,then it probably took him….
10 seconds to see the lights behind him, 5 seconds to freak out
10 seconds to develop a plan
5 seconds to get baggie out of pocket
10 seconds to get that damn piece of plastic panel off the side of the center console
10 seconds to stuff and close panel
3 seconds to roll down windows
2 seconds for a quick prayer
10 seconds to actually hit the brakes and pull over.
Usama, you’re a dumbass for not going to court, and parking in a handicap spot….C’mon MAN…really? WTF!?!? I don’t know why, but I still don’t think he is really a bad person, just making 24 year old mistakes. Hopefully this is blown out of proportion, and we move on.

Missing court doesn't make you a bad person
it makes you a dumba55. If all the 20 somethings in the world who missed court or parked in a handicapped spot were bad people, we’d be living in the meter maid version of Gomorrah. Luckily, we just live in a place where not paying a parking ticket on time and taking an extra 35 seconds to find a comfortable place to pull over costs a couple of hours in moron camp and $7,500, or two months salary for “the other half” of us. At least he’s got the money.
If he was loaded, well he should count his blessings he got pulled over by whoever it was, because my personal experience with Jefferson Parish sheriffs suggests that merely driving at 3a.m. is proof of horrendous wrongdoing.

WOW, I just reread my previous post
First off, the phrase “I don’t know why” shouldn’t be in there at all. I don’t know how I typed that.
Then, it should have read “Hopefully this is NOT blown out of proportion”
I totally agree with you that being out past 2 AM can be a crime in some cops eyes. But I do believe someone should smack him in the back of the head for parking in the handicap spot.

I always allow
1.5 seconds for a Binaca spritz. You never know, the cop in pursuit might be a smoking chick.

More here
In THIS REPORT:
Young’s attorney, Chick Foret, said: “It is the position of the police that he did not stop immediately. Mr. Young says that he pulled over as soon as he saw their lights.”
“We are aware of the situation involving Usama, and we are working with him, our legal cousel and we are supporting Usama in this matter,” Saints spokesman Greg Bensel said.
The parking violation was just stupid, but the fleeing charge I don’t believe because of a similar expereince I had. I was once pulled over for doing 56 mph in a 45 mph zone in Texas and the cop tried to accuse me of the same thing. He tried to suggest I was running from him, which was absolutely not true. I told him I pulled over as soon as I saw the lights and he didn’t press it after that. It was a very bad experience that left me untrusting of police. Some have a tendency to let the power trip they get from their badge blind them to better judgment. Not all, but some.
It’s nice to see the team is supporting him. Maybe Goodell won’t suspend him. VIlma didn’t get suspended immediately after that Miami incident that he was later cleared of, so I hope Young has similar luck. If Usama gets suspended, we’d only have Sharper at FS.

I hope that's true
The depth chart lists him as a SS with Sharper, Young, and Vaughn listed as the only FS. Williams likes guys that can play multiple positions, so they could probably cover it if needed. I’m not expecting Vaughn to contribute this season. He’ll probably get put on IR. I’m probably getting ahead of myself here as Young hasn’t been suspended yet. I just remember the nightmares we all witnessed last year from the FS position, but that was K.K. and Bullocks in a Gary Gibbs system. It can’t possibly get that bad again this year. Can it? In Williams I trust.

It can be bad,
But it CANNOT be worse. Not possible. I don’t need to knock on wood, because it’s true. Unless Sharper starts habitually running interceptions back towards the wrong endzone…Dammit!

I think someone should
tell The Saints that WE (the Saints Fanbase) have big plans for them this season. Being out after 3 AM until late January or early February is uncalled for unles it is a funeral or a wedding (and then maybe not) Dedicate yourselves and party your braiuns out in March, April and May. Go home now at a reasonable hour even if you are not partying.
