Around SBN: Dog Football! Which Breeds Are Best Suited For The Gridiron?

The Elephant In The Room

To say that things have been dicey around here lately is an understatement.  Nerves are frayed, tempers are flaring. We are eager to start our run to the Promised Land. (Drew Brees was in my dreams last night for cryin' out loud.)  But that is not the reason for the consternation.

I propose a simple solution to restoring the peace on CSC, (which came to me as I was eating my day-old Papa John's) and it doesn't involve a drastic measure like banning an account:  Simply ignore sarcastic, asinine, disrespectful, argumentative and humorless user comments.  Work around them.  Talk around them.  Treat them like they don't even exist.

If you don't feed the vine, it will whither and die.  Slow and agonizing is a more satisfying demise than quick and painless.  And this way, we can't be called fascists.

Is it Sunday yet?

It ain't you, Tay

We may disagree with you, but we got your back.

Hollywoo, I came to pretty much the same conclusion and decided to implement it myself on a personal basis. If everyone else wants to join in…the more the merrier! Maybe this place could get back to the where it once belonged.

This is an excellent suggestion, Hollywoo!

Frankly, it surprises me that this idea just came to you over supper. I’ve been avoiding idiots like the plague since the 2nd grade.

In fact, when someone recently took exception to something I posted in another thread, I offered similiar advice:

“If you don’t want to discuss the topic, then don’t. If you don’t want to read or buy into my angles, then don’t. It’s that simple.”

That under the assumption that THEY thought I was an idiot. You know, since this sort of thing is all about perception.

Pardon the tangent. Regardless of who wrapped their head around the concept first, it is indeed very sound logic, and I commend you for bringing it to our attention.

While we’re on the topic common sense, here’s something else I learned early in life, that I’d like to share with the rest of the class:

“Look both ways before crossing the street”.

Pretty friggin clever, eh?

Let’s keep these helpful tips rolling in and make this the strongest online Saints community yet!

Awesome

If that one guy would’ve done that in Florida, he’d still be alive and Donte Stallworth would still be playing football.

CP - How Often are your Posts a Function of

Heavy Substance intake? Or, given your ID, possibly your brain signals are distorted by “food poisoning” from the moldy cheese and bacteria infested pepperonis after 4 days in the oven!!

Before you go deep-6 on me, most of the time I enjoy reading your posts, and if not I bypass. Its usually doesn’t take long to know when we are reading “ColdPizza the contributor” or “ColdPizza the demon”. When it is clear “CP the Demon” is on the loose — avoid and ignore is the immediate response! Of course, Hunter S. might not bypass some of your “fear and loathing” oriented posts!!

Either way, you are part of the board’s personality no matter the schizophrenic component of your posts!! And I sure do enjoy waxing pre-1986 Saints, of which unfortunately not so many qualify.

Out of curiosity, am I on your persona-non-grata list?

FrenchFreak pointed out that I’m coldpizza’s stooge last week. I do often enjoy the arguments, and I think he/she knows a ton about Saint’s’ football, and I think he/she’s funny, when not in nitpicking condescension mode. I also enjoy writing long-winded comments with a lot of sarcasm and unnecessary poetic flourish. And I’ve only been here a few months, but I comment a lot, which may not work for you.

But I have no problem with just shutting up and reading, if that would enhance the tenured and distinguished members’ reading experience. I don’t want to be where I’m not welcome. Hard to tell if it matters at all, though. I don’t know any of you.

I’ve made my email address public,if anyone wants to tell me what an insufferable a-hole I am in a p2p format. I’d like to know where I stand, since the old guard is throwing down the gauntlet.

To the point of the post, I’m throwing in my recommendation, as I would think that’s the most obvious and positive recourse when you don’t have anything constructively debatable or “funny” to say.

question

do you guys take each others comments personally? i don’t know anyone here on a personal level but i love coming here and reading the posts… the object, subjective, outrageous, fanatical… all of it. anyway, i do hope that no one seriously offended or upset. the way i see it, we’re all here because we all love the saints and we want them to do well. how, why, and what it takes for them to get to the big show is always up for debate and i think that’s what makes this all the more entertaining.

anyway… go saints!!

I agree nanvinnie

I Love to see all post stretching from the deep analysis to the plain Jane comments from Joe Bob in the corner. It is all in good fun, and we should applaud people for individuals whether we agree or disagree.

no one should

take anything over the internet very seriously. Everyone is going to have their own views about things and we should all agree that we can disagree.

Rec'd it

Starve the vine and it will wither. I think that most of us enjoy a good debate from time to time but we should all(myself included) try to refrain from attacking other ppls views. I would agree that we are all a little on edge for the upcoming season because even if you think the Saints will be the next 0-16 team, you’re hoping that they’ll be SB champs at the end of the year and that’s what’s important, we all want the Saints to win.

I personally find all the commentors and posters to be valuable members. Alot of times people bring up things that I hadn’t noticed before or know more rules about the nfl(CP is very good at this) than me. I might not agree all the time but they give me a different POV on things. I don’t agree with CP on alot of things but i respect the argument that he brings b/c it’s never a “just because” answer but an answer that is backed up by examples or stats or things like that. I’ll take that any day of the week. Keep em coming CP and make them daily. I know I always have something to comment about every day.

Superbowl bound!!!...I hope? Go Saints! :D
