Saints burn through tight ends; We're LUCKY to have David Thomas
Here's the body count in the PayLoo era: Ernie Conwell, Eric Johnson, Mark Campbell. THIS season, it's Dan Campbell (Aug), and Billy Miller (Sep). Signed David Thomas after Billy went down, from Hoodie for a 2011 7th round draft choice, which has turned out to be a BARGAIN since he's played pretty well and Shockey's been hurt off and on. I don't even know Darnell Dinkins, I guess he's blocking and playing special teams, rarely hear his number. Now this:
Rotoworld.com:
David Thomas (calf, doubtful) missed Saints practice Friday. It's unclear who will start at tight end for the Saints on Sunday.
Jeremy Shockey (questionable, toe) was limited in Friday's practice. His status is uncertain for Week 17, and the Saints might err on the side of caution with a first-round playoff bye coming up after the regular season finale. Shockey has been dealing with turf toe for nearly a month now.
I was watching the Giants@Saints game today. Shockey was awesome, and so was Lance Moore. We need both to get healthy for the playoffs. And David Thomas, bless his heart.
D Thomas only has 35 catches for 356 yds and 1 TD, sure seems like a lot more than that. Shockey = 48/569/3
I guess this should have been a fanpost, but I don't like the new format.

When was the last time Shockster played this season?
Seems like it’s been a looong time since he suited up!

I used to be in the full-go camp
but now? I hope I get to watch the JV play Sunday. Let the hurt guys sit. Give them the week off, let them have a few laughs, cheer from the sidelines, whatever. Then another two full weeks to get well, and clobber Dallas or whoever we face the first game back with a fully healthy roster. Like in the first five weeks.
Then try to find a good third-round tight end, because we’re going to need some more. And a fullback. But linebackers first.
BURN THE BLACK PANTS!!!
yup - I jumped the fence and joined the "rest 'em all" club yesterday
we need to be rested and healthy for the divisional round…

Drew Brees – QB Jan. 1 – 10:08 pm et
Drew Brees will be the No. 3 quarterback on Sunday, coach Sean Payton told Peter King. If true, this is a complete turnaround from what Payton said the Saints would do all week. It sounds like Payton got scared by the Panthers’ hot pass rush. Mark Brunell now appears to be in line to start, with Chase Daniel backing him up. All Saints are suddenly risky options in leagues that extend into Week 17.
Hey, Merry Christmas, Peter!
You telling lies thinking I can't see,
You can't cry 'cause you're laughing at me.
week 17
I don’t think Payton is scared, I just think his options are limited. No, the Saints do NOT need to go into the post season on a three game losing streak but the time for fixing that was last week against Tampa Bay, not this week against Carolina. I truly believe Payton wanted to go balls out in this game and win to get back some positive mojo, but reality is reality. The Saints are a hurting team and need these three weeks to rest some players. I think ultimately getting people healthy in an effort to go deep into the playoffs offsets the need to win a game so we all “feel better.”
