Holy Crap!!! Deuce is back!!!

Deuce is back!

Dave Cohen Reporting

The New Orleans Saints have signed former Black and Gold running back Deuce McAllister.

Sources confirm McAllister is back on the team after more than a year away from football.

During the offseason, the Saints released McAllister who had been struggling with multiple knee injuries.

We are awaiting details on McAllister's planned role with the Saints as they prepare for a divisional playoff game with the Cardinals.  So far, officails are only saying he is on the "active roster."

Stay tuned to WWL AM & FM and WWL.com for the latest.

I saw this on Rotoworld
According to Saints beat reporter Jeff Duncan, free agent Deuce McAllister is training in hopes of playing in the NFL in 2010.

McAllister, who turned 31 last month, was out of the league in 2009, drawing no interest after his four-game StarCaps suspension was up. Perhaps the ultra-thin free agent tailback market will help him get a look this offseason.

Nothing about him being signed.

Update from Rotoworld

WHODAT!!!!

WWL-TV in New Orleans reports that the Saints have re-signed free agent Deuce McAllister.

The move may have something to do with either Pierre Thomas’ cracked ribs or Mike Bell’s severe decline in production down the stretch. McAllister, 31, has been out of the league all year after serving a four-game suspension to open the season for taking a diuretic banned by the NFL. He’d be a mere insurance policy, and very unlikely to see any touches in the playoffs.

If we win, they don’t have to have him on the roster to give him one. I suspect that it’s likely that it’s pure insurance at this point, but who knows? And can you imagine how the place would go NUTS if he does another “drag half the DL into the endzone with him” march?

That year off may have added a few years to his career

I’ve always like the way he runs, he looks like he should be in a different black ‘n’ gold jersey with his phsyical style of running

Players who should be in the Hall of Fame: DIck Lebeau, Pat TIllman, Dwight White, Donnie Shell, L.C. Greenwood, Ray Guy, Steve Tasker, Greg Llyod, Andy Russel, Cris Carter, Kevin Greene and Jerry Kramer

Un-******g-Believable.

I don’t know what the hell to make of this move. I’m happy Deuce gets to be a part of this ride, but what’s the concern on the roster? If he’s coming in for PT, this isn’t going to help. If he’s coming in for Bell or Hamilton, I’m listening. This season has turned into a “Greatest Hitz of the Oughtz” kind of season. I think Joe Horn should come in to return kickoffs.

It would be difficult — but not impossible — for him to be worse.

But then again, that was also “rusty” Brunell at CAR. Now, I STRONGLY hope he sits for a long time and grows a lot more. But since he’s knocked some off, if he does have to play any, he probably won’t be AS horrid.

I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but let's not pretend that this is the same Deuce we had before.

The man can’t possibly be as effective as he was in ‘06. It’ll be a great emotional boost, but I don’t see him having a big impact on our game plan. Think about it, would you play a guy after adding him so late into the offense? After his knee problems? After being out of the league for a year?

Even if he hardly plays, it doesn’t really matter, the extra positive energy and overall intangible effects will make a big impact. It would serve as a great momentum push for the team as well as the fans. And he absolutely deserves to be on the field for the big game in Miami. There really isn’t a downside to this. And it will make it all the more meaningful when my hubby is wearing his #26 jersey. :)

Don't get our hopes up

I have a feeling the Saints are doing what they did for Ricky Jackson. After Ricky left the Saints, he wanted to come back after awhile, just so he could retire as a Saint. So, we obliged. We re-signed him for one day, and he retired the next. I have a feeling this is what we are doing with D.M. The chances of him playing are slim to none. BUT…he is a fantastic motivator for the players, but more so for the FANS! The gf told me he’s going out for the coin toss…where she got that from, I have no idea.

I’m so ticked off right now!!!! I’ve been watching ESPN for the last hour. They mentioned the Saints ONCE….while mentioning all the other playoff teams (except Arizona) numerous times. The one time the DO mention the Saints, it was with a “let’s just through any score out there and get on to the important teams/games” attitude. A 20 second spot, talking about Warner and Brees indoors….Saints 77 Cardinals 75. Poof, that was all for us.Now granted, I don’t mind not getting tons and tons of attention…leave us alone for the most part, let us play our game, then come and jump on the bandwagon after we win the SB. What I do mind is the nonchalant attitude towards us. And you just KNOW, SB champ Saints will have every sportscaster/reporter singing their praises, talking about how they knew all along the Saints were going/winning the SB…blah, blah, blah. Pure and utter disrespect.
